The thing that's so funny about Florence is that she has one of the strongest singing voices I've ever heard, but when it comes to interviews, and plainly talking, she's so calm and quiet! Love her.
I love how she uses everything in her life to influence her songs: death, hangovers, paintings, impending sadness, chaotic life,to express herself she is honestly amazing xx
In my opinion, "Never Let Me Go" turned out perfectly. It's one of those songs I put on repeat and could reasonably apply to so many situations in life. Thank you, ma'am, for an album full of brilliance.
I love her. Listening to her interviews is like a mix of meeting my mom in the 70s, meeting a best friend, and listening to a prophet at the same time. She's just AWESOME. I want to meet her so badly!
She speaks to my heart, I know so well what is it like not to be able to express yourself when speaking, whilst on paper everything just flows out of you naturally.
This is a fabulous record of Flo' the person, singer-writer/composer, artist-e. How many times does she have to say she's not a talker but singer: it's through her songs she expresses herself, big-time. And yet she provides the explanations, but how could anyone possibly expect them to be swift, cleanly expressed summaries of whys, wherefores and so on. What she reveals is the sensitive but bubbly person she actually is (some/most of the time, anyway, for obviously there must be the whole spectrum of emotions - as well as colours). It's all so magical in itself, the true essence of the human being behind her creativity. It's all there: genuine artists don't talk, far less offer a self-analysis, about their work. She's one of the last greats, and she's British-(South-)London; so those who don't understand it all that well shall probably have to wait it out for a full explanation. In the meantime, they have the records and varying images of a gorgeous personality to go with them.
Florence is so lovely and her voice is just so ridiculously big to come from such a soft-spoken person! I have Ceremonials on loop in my car right now. I think I've listened to it through about 8 times or so by now and I haven't gotten bored yet. Everything is so beautiful and interesting to try to analyze. She is a true artist.
I look up to Florence so much. She is beautiful and extremely talented. she puts a lot of other female artists to shame with the power behind her voice and her true emotions. I have also never listened to a singer where I have thoroughly loved every song of theirs, but with Florence I could listen to her nonstop and never get bored
Ugh, I *love* what she says about Leave My Body. I have that feeling so often... of just wanting to be left alone with my music and feel like I'm transcending, and not really wanting or needing anything else, anything worldly. It sounds so trivial to say it in words like that, but she captured it so well in the song.
' Love, to me, is like one long noise or one long scream and to give it a word would be really difficult' Florence, you've solved your own problem there; the word for love is..... love. #loveflorence
the standout CD of all time in my collection!!! So much emotion and depth from such an amazing artist. With the ability to remain true to herself, Florence can be proud to say her art has made her ,not like many others that can only make it with raunchy overplayed filmclips. So glad to see some real talent!!!
... I just want to hug her... She's so darling. Brilliant, creative, and expressive, with a great sense of humor... I could hear her speak all day. She's magnetic, even as she converses. What a wonder that is Florence Welch.
She so amazing. Seriously i could marvel at her speech and singing and everything about her for hours. she's a true artist. she can take just huge amounts of inspirations from things that most of us would just consider so insignificant. i just don't get how just one person can be this awesome.
Thank you for your beauty and sharing your talents. I AM eternally grateful 💫✨💕💫💫💕. I have carried your music in me for years.....and found parts of myself through it.
She is the only person who can pull off striking and lovely red hair with her BEAUTIFUL pale skin. Perfect combination. And her jaw line and cheek bones ! I could go on forever,... She's perfect
@AnnWiko What i meant was that the songs don't really have any specific meaning. They have been built up from items of symbolism and, like you said, they express themself to everybody in a different way. The best kind of songs! :D
No, "Bedroom Hymns" was recorded long before Florence probably knew about the adaptation. The real reason why it wasn't included (along with "Strangeness and Charm") because both were on the Deluxe Edition.
I could say almost the same, only I would add that when she finally let the song "go" the song itself take Florence within it, that's why I believe you can actually feel that song, not only hear it, but feel it! and now.. I have to listen how it feels, again ♥►♫
Ok absolutely favorite part of this video is the explanation she gives at 05:21....those fews seconds where she pauses as she's rapidly searching for proper articulation for her amazingly beautiful method for processing sadness. Good lord it hits me in my heartstrings!
The melody to "Spectrum"'s chorus is so beautiful that, everytime I listen to it, I ask myself, "Is this real?" The harp riff -or however it is actually called- that plays during the chorus and at the end of that song is also insanely perfect.
Could some enlightened soul please subtitle this video? My english isn't very good. Brasileiros/portugueses, inclusive. Quem traduzir terá todo o meu amor.
Some of them are on the deluxe version, like strangeness and charm. Landscape was a demo added on the deluxe UK version only along with acoustic versions of Shake It Out and Heartlines which are all three available in the US now on the deluxe version of her MTV Unplugged album.
She has such a sweet voice that 06:38 comes as quite a shock XD I love track-by track commentaries. Suddenly everything comes together and all the songs and lyrics make perfect sense.
Generally I don't want to know the hows/whys of how a song came to be, because as a listener, I have my own interpretation of the song. However, listening to her talk about the tracks was really interesting and fun-- cuz it's Florence! Who wouldn't want to listen to her talk?! Kinda wish she talked about the bonus tracks featured on the iTunes "deluxe" version, but that's alright. This album is amazing and epic. I've listened to little else in the past week that I've had it.
@FlorenceRedify i think that she knows, but it's hard to explain. You have to understand it. It will come to you slowly, because her songs aren't for one time. In her songs there are many many many many feelings and emotions. I' ve got the same thing and she helps me to express myself. And yeah - I love her!
I understand her ! I have a similar mindset, where I imagine things so complex that it's so hard to communicate through voice, which is why I want to be a photographer, to express myself a bit better.
Damn it i should of bought the damn deluxe version... TRYNA SAVE MONEY!!!!! GAH Imma just buy it again... But i love how human she i forget what song she was trying to explain but she couldnt find all the right words to explain it. it was just a very connecting moment
The best singers usually know to conserve their voices in all situations when they aren't singing. KD Lang, for instance, claims that she rarely goes to parties where she'd have to yell over the music, she doesn't smoke or drink, etc. I suspect that's part of what Florence is doing here.
Idk, I guess the way that the way that she communicates her visions sometimes is almost prophetic. Like with "Only If For a Night", she had a vision of her grandmother giving her advice.
she is saying that although the seven devils could be considered to be the seven deadly sins, she wasn't really thinking about that when she wrote the song, she then refers to a book by Chester Himes called "If He Hollers Let Him Go" (which is by the way, about an african american who works in a shipyard and has to deal with racism and work discrimination) calling the language in it "incredibly beautiful" and at one point we wakes up in the morning and thinks "i woke up with seven devils in me"
Never Let Me Go is my favourite song on the album. So I was just waiting and waiting for the explanation for that. So then it comes and it the end and it's just....completely hilarious! "I couldn't control it anymore...I don't know anymore...I couldn't let it go!"
The thing that's so funny about Florence is that she has one of the strongest singing voices I've ever heard, but when it comes to interviews, and plainly talking, she's so calm and quiet! Love her.
I adore the face that while speaking Florence is so soft spoken and timid, but when she sings she is strong and fearless
And it's breaking over me. Thousand miles down to the sea bed. I love this song
I wish more artists did stuff like this. It's really awesome to see the insight into her music from her own perspective.
She's so shy and awkward in person I love her so much omg.

Soft spoken woman with a big singing voice. Interesting.. Love her music though. :)
She makes fuck you sound so angelic
Her voice is just so hypnotising. Even as she speaks.
I look up to Florence so much. She is beautiful and extremely talented. she puts a lot of other female artists to shame with the power behind her voice and her true emotions. I have also never listened to a singer where I have thoroughly loved every song of theirs, but with Florence I could listen to her nonstop and never get bored
Her explanation of trying to explain her songs is summed up in her explanation in the meaning of No Light, No Light.
Ugh, I *love* what she says about Leave My Body. It sounds so trivial to say it in words like that, but she captured it so well in the song.
this album was named very accurately, every song sounds like a ceremony sad, dark and joyful.
' Love, to me, is like one long noise or one long scream and to give it a word would be really difficult' Florence, you've solved your own problem there; the word for love is..... love. #loveflorence

aww she´s so cute ans her voice is so sweet
loving your username! :)
Never Let Me Go is Florence’s bestest song. Literal chills. And I’ve got these “water” imageries flowing in my mind...
Do you know if there's a similar interview for "How big, how blue, how beautiful"?
one of the best records of the decade
what a perfectly sweet personality she has to balance out that otherworldly powerhouse vocal presence. Flo is just wonderous
No way, Joan of Arc! This is so surreal because Joan and Florence are two of my greatest idols. Another reason to adore that song
Joan is referenced in the line “and my body was bruised and I was set alight”
I love florence so much
she takes such massive inspiration from such small things, it just amazes me.
@AnnWiko What i meant was that the songs don't really have any specific meaning. They have been built up from items of symbolism and, like you said, they express themself to everybody in a different way.
The best kind of songs! :D
so precise with her words... love it.
No, "Bedroom Hymns" was recorded long before Florence probably knew about the adaptation. The real reason why it wasn't included (along with "Strangeness and Charm") because both were on the Deluxe Edition.
Her voice is so soothing and relaxed :) i have the album ceremonials and its amazing :3
YES. I've been looking for this interview for centuries. Thank you FATMArmy ;)
I could say almost the same, only I would add that when she finally let the song "go" the song itself take Florence within it, that's why I believe you can actually feel that song, not only hear it, but feel it! and now.. I have to listen how it feels, again ♥►♫
well it's like she said, she can't really express herself in words, but her emotions, thoughts and ideas come through in her music
Ok absolutely favorite part of this video is the explanation she gives at 05:21....those fews seconds where she pauses as she's rapidly searching for proper articulation for her amazingly beautiful method for processing sadness. Good lord it hits me in my heartstrings!
5:45, Lover to Lover.
Her Black dress turns to the red of her Hair
Look how her eyes match her clothes. Also with the bright red hair makes it beautiful.
She reminds me of a young David bowie
The melody to "Spectrum"'s chorus is so beautiful that, everytime I listen to it, I ask myself, "Is this real?" The harp riff -or however it is actually called- that plays during the chorus and at the end of that song is also insanely perfect.
The songs are out of order because this interview uses the original tracklist order. The songs were switched around last minute.
Beautiful voice when she sings AND speaks!
She's the only person I've see look good with bangs.
omar kadri Zoey Deschanel?
I agree, Florence made me want to get bangs and I looked horrible. XD
Ohh I love florence, she's amazing and charming
Could some enlightened soul please subtitle this video? My english isn't very good. Brasileiros/portugueses, inclusive. Quem traduzir terá todo o meu amor.
No Bedroom Hymns :(
It amazes me that she has a meaning for every song, but she can't explain all of them with mere words.
Some of them are on the deluxe version, like strangeness and charm. Landscape was a demo added on the deluxe UK version only along with acoustic versions of Shake It Out and Heartlines which are all three available in the US now on the deluxe version of her MTV Unplugged album.
Strange how someone with such a soft talking voice can have such a strong singing voice. It's like two different people.
Thanks for the awesome video!
I can feel it too. I love the video they did for it as well.
How can she be so sweet and kinda when talk, and when singing be so strong and wild ?
shes so beautiful but in an unusual way....i love her
Haha, I love her description of 'Never Let Me Go'. Wish we got to hear some of the other versions of it, that would be interesting.
OMG shes soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo adorable with her soft spoken self!
living legend.
Her voice is magical, it's just amazing!
YAAAAS QUEEN YAAASS
*****
lol :D What's your favourite song from Ceremonials?
Seven Devils, it's really haunting hahah
Such a banger of an album
She is so beautiful!
The way she described leave my body made my heart stop
she cast a spell on me!!! she is Not human!!!!!
I've been a had since 2007. I love her.
Definite Indigo Child...
fuck i love this woman
@nooranoor234 ...And when she sings you can totally see what she was talking about. That´s how real artists do it. She´s freakin´ brilliant
So the original tracklist had Never Let Me Go as the closing track. Interesting
She has such a sweet voice that 06:38 comes as quite a shock XD
I love track-by track commentaries. Suddenly everything comes together and all the songs and lyrics make perfect sense.
her little little voice is soo cute
Generally I don't want to know the hows/whys of how a song came to be, because as a listener, I have my own interpretation of the song. @codmalt
It is on the deluxe album and is listed as one of the bonus tracks.
wait till she has a drink. I love her, she's sober in this interview hencethe soft spoken, go watch the Florence Welch funny bits video, you'll see!
she is so deep, beutiful, talented, smart cute and has written THE BIRD SONG
They're on the second disc of the Deluxe Edition, and they're amazing.
I would love to read her tarot or palm!!
i love her so much omg i just, i can't speak words
@FlorenceRedify i think that she knows, but it's hard to explain. You have to understand it. It will come to you slowly, because her songs aren't for one time. No Light No Light
Her voice
I love her voice
voice of a princess
Never Let Me Go is the song that saved my life..
Damn it i should of bought the damn deluxe version... TRYNA SAVE MONEY!!!!! GAH Imma just buy it again... But i love how human she i forget what song she was trying to explain but she couldnt find all the right words to explain it. it was just a very connecting moment

She is so amazing... FANBOY
she so humble
nuff said
I could listen her voice all my life until i die
florence just needs to write a book, if she can tell a story this good through song think what she could she do through a book!
Never Let Me Go is my favourite song on the album. So I was just waiting and waiting for the explanation for that. So then it comes and it the end and it's just....completely hilarious! "I couldn't control it anymore...I don't know anymore...I couldn't let it go!"
Haha, so true. She even said her song "No Light No Light" is an apology for not being able to say in speech what she can say in her music.
They're part of the Deluxe CD, that's probably why they aren't included. But it would be great if she'd explained that too though!
bedroom hymns was made for the great gatsby movie so it as inspired by this. that's why it wasn't included
