With a box like this I wouldn't care too much about the warranty. If the engine blows, you can remove the box easily before the tow truck arrives :)

ye but every plug u pull is marked down in the ecu, in other words it knows when something is unplugged ;) had a read out 13 years ago when i changed my blow off valve and it said what i plugged off :D they will ask what uve been doing

Racechip offers engine warranty. Recently they changed the engine of a 2017 q7 for free without asking any questions.
Everybody hating but I love the fact that they show things like they are, they could have edited the video to make the difference bigger, but they didn't.
They'd get found out by many other test reviews. Its already known these things don't work

The difference is noticeable at high speed but still not that much for49HP and 138 NM
I remapped my 1.5 Dci 86bhp 200nm to 110BHP 250NM and there's a bigger difference than this video haha I've used a race chip before i took it off within a month
After watching the vid where you installed the chip and got very excited about the performance, this vid shows it was just in your mind.
I wouldn’t pay 1 dollar for that chip.
You actually never now how it feels in real drive not full throttle from zero. The throttle maybe is more responsive, 20-60, 60-100, 80-120 for sure can feel different. And you actually see it's faster at high speeds so for crazy autobahn heads that matters but for sure it will be more usefull to use racechip on 30d

The difference is pretty insignificant. I wouldn't risk additional wear for such a small improvement.
I was reading up on these. Some people say it needs 2 weeks to get an accurate ecu tune. Could you make a video update in around that time. Would like to see if there is improvement.
No difference. Got 4.2tdi remap last month, it went from 385hp to 420hp and 870nm, instant result with 0-100 going from 5.1 to 4.5
Right now going for the stage 2 (new ecu, new remap, decat, some cooling upgrade + another magic), expecting ~490/500hp and nm above 990

It would have been more interesting to see the power and torque curves before & after to see where the gains are. We recently had an ECU remap done on our Mercedes ML 350, and from the dyno test, we can see the peak torque arrives at lower rpm and lasts over a wider rpm band, which is where you will really feel the difference in daily driving.
Now do one with custom tune ECU remap . It will eat the little powerchip

although its a small difference in outright straight line power/performance, in everyday terms there is more torque to play with and probably efficiency/mpg gains
Can in gear tests be done instead, they might show a bigger improvement. Also, do you not have a racelogic vbox or similar? Thanks for posting this up.
Thank you for this honest video! I was doubting between a remap or a box like this months ago. Glad I went with the remap. It's a huge difference. This box does start to show effects after 120km/h apparently, but not enough, a remap also cost me €490, about the same price.
My 535d has a Steinbauer P Box, would be quite interesting to see the difference to the race chip

I'd send that racechip back based on this. There are other tuning boxes that do produce noticeable results, but the difference here isn't significant enough to warrant the money.

From 60km/h going up, the RaceChip is clearly @ 5km faster... maybe you should set the RaceChip higher than it comes in the box ;) because they are great if you set it properly !!! I get 4.0 with PPK and RaceChip ;)

I have an X5 e70 40d and i kept up with an Audi Sq5 at +200 km/h with the speed buster tuning box.
+50 HP and 0-100 is dead even. I was thinking about this chip while ago but im kinda glad i passed. On the other hand it works somewhat, these results are really strange (pretty much no change). Would like to know what guys from racechip think about this, because it seems like lack of added power.
I would like to see stats from some proper measurements with chip on/off.

This chip isn't even working, and I have feeling that it is possibly dangerous to the car.
Really? 549 euros + 50 euros for the app on smartphone just for that? For 600-ish euros you can get a dpf delete + downpipe + egr delete + dyno remap. Just checked that... 200 gbp for downpipe and 60 gbp for complete egr delete, I think it would be enough for all of these + dyno remap. A good tuner could get that engine over 400 hp with these mods.
Really? You get all that for 600 euro? From who? Even stage 1 alone costs 800-1500, downpipe with ece? 1600. So much stuff so fucking cheap? please dont do this to your car.
From what comes these +hp/nm indications? Boxmaker or dyno? Every motor is different, standard box wont make it the same on every one.
I dropped the box and went for a proper remap, big difference in results, 364hp, so about the same claim, but the remap is pulling 3.9 secs 0-100 Dragy confirmed.
What is price this RaceChip???

Good job I seen this video, not much difference that’s made my mind up to get a Dpf delete and full gearbox ecu remap to 400bhp 800+ torque and 0-60mph in 3.2 seconds

I bought a much cheaper chip, ProDieselChip which does the same thing but w/o the fancy packaging, for my BMW 318d that suffers from a choked engine.
Also bought a OBD2 scanner to be able to measure any Hp & Torque increase. They promise an average of 25% Bhp and 30% Torque increase BUT via the OBD2 scanner I only managed to measure 12% Hp increase and 15% torque increase after trying a multitude of settings.
I still "feel" an increase in torque which is good but it's nowhere near the promised average increases, so lucky it was only 160 euros with shipping and not 500 like for the Race Chip.

that doesn’t look like over €500 worth of improved acceleration, looks like the car had a SLIGHT tail-wind in the race-chip clip but that’s about it, in realistic conditions and speeds (i.e starts from red lights and 0-200) it’s literally identical, could’ve spent that money on gas or a genuine remap🤷🏼♂️

Re do this from a rolling start. Say 100KPH then floor it.
Love your vids, but i call bullshit on this one. Take it to a dyno asap and test it or at least
plug in an obd tool and look at the boost pressure before and after connecting the box.
No way there's 49hp and 138nm increase under the curve. A remap squeezes out about
maximum of 65hp and 100nm. This box most likely causes a boost spike somewhere
in the rev range that smokes the cat and messes with the torque management. It feels faster
to the consumer when it kicks a little bit....

No way that's 50 more HP.. Would have been great if you did a dyno run stock and with the chip .. stock I'm sure it would have been less than 313 hp .. BMW's diesel engines usually make less hp than claimed but they gain a lot of hp and torque with a proper custom tune.

from 0-100 the stock is slightly faster... and they reach 100 at about the same rate. overall barely any difference to justify the tune lmao

Is it in level 3 5 or 7 ? 9 miles an hour from what I can judge at high speed. To be fair if a car was pulling away from you at even 5 miles an hour it is walking you bad.
Absolutely minimal difference in performance.. Doubt if it’s even noticeable for the owner. That’s the problem with high powered diesels, there’s not much left to gain.

A custom map is better, the 435d & 535d's gearbox is only good a maximum for 700nm of torque as it is the 8HP70 model... zf box will be slipping in no time.

Ridicolous chip, no difference in this video. Had it on a 420 and acceleration times were identical.
A lot of money for a box with two, 3 position variable resistors to frig rail pressure and boost feedback to ecu. Actually looked slower at legal speeds! Why not airflow too? The ecu runs many plausibility checks, so if it sees a lower rail pressure and boost for any given standard airflow value (this is what this device is trying to do, so that ecu will allow a higher rail pressure and boost for any given airflow until it sees what it thinks it should for same given airflow value) then it probably isn't plausible. Therefore closed-loop control is overridden by an open-loop mapped safe value, and hence no increase in performance or even a limp mode! Only true test to see if this is working is on a rolling road dyno. Verdict - A waste of money!

racechip isn't real tuning. it's cheating on your cars data and acting like it has less boost so it allows a bit more. can be too little, can be too much. would at max buy the ceapest chip

Over time you will reduce the lifetime of your engine. That is for certain. Nobody knows the engine better than the manufacturer.
