    As usual with these videos, some detail over God Hand's sweet systems didn't make it into the video for the sake of time and/or clarity. If you want to read a little about them, I've got a few extra notes in the description that you might want to check out.
    Play God Hand.

      Turbo Button THIS is why i love resident evil 6. Everything works so fluently from animation to animation, from dodges to shooting to melee, everything just clicks so well together and works wonders with freedom like no other shooter. You can slide and get up or slide and lie down ready to shoot, slide and turn around or place a c4 while sliding saving time. You can roll dodge or dodge an attack ready to kick ass, you can counter, stun by shooting head or legs etc... Different positions lead into different moves and each character has his own moves. You even have have wesker/matrix moves with jake, electric baton with sherry.knives etc...and each character has his own personal weapon with special moves(ada's crossbow flipping around, helena's hydra rolling, leon's double pistols shooting barrage etcc). Its a game so unique and one of its kind just like god hand. I can play for hours mercenaries no mercy just trying to get the best high score with hundreds of zombies on screen at the same time. There are 4 campaigns each as long as re5/re7, survivors mode, predator mode, pvp, invading people as zombies ala dark souls! I LOVE IT! Just like the people that hated god hand i feel you are the same hating on resi6.

      Ok but what if God Hand is my favorite game of all time and Resident Evil 6 is my least favorite of the franchise?

    • @kato093
      @kato093 6 лет назад

      FuriousGorge sorry but yiu have shit taste. God hand is not even in the top 50 best games ever and resident evil 6 is not a bad game. For god hand whatever your choice to like whatever you like. But saying re6 is your least fav is like saying its the worst game you have ever played and thats just bullshit. Sounds more like a temper tantrum Choice than anything else. And at least re6 is better than that re7 first person garbage. They could have changed the name and nobody would have thought of resident evil since it has nothing of resident evil outside of some recycled puzzles and names added exactly because the game has nothing of resident evil so they threw them in there so there would something, anything close to re.

    God Hand is so underrated
    Some things that weren't mentioned in the video, the duck not only fills up your style meter but often puts you in the perfect position to counter an enemy since you stay in their face. Besides the assigned combos Gene has some set moves that he can use no matter what, like the sweep kick done by pressing square after dodging, the Shoryuken to use on enemies that are launched high enough by pressing Back+Triangle, and the charge kick to use on downed enemies with the same input that can bounce them up to the perfect height for a juggle. These moves are incredibly useful, aren't well-explained within the game itself, and learning when to use them makes a big difference in how you'll be able to handle the enemies.
    Also, don't just play on easy mode and spam the high side kick. Like, come on man. Play the game.

    • @MrBorderlands123
      @MrBorderlands123 6 лет назад +14

      Critically, maybe, but I've seen nothing but glowing praise from most people who have played it, rightfully so. I don't think it's underrated or else it wouldn't have the cult following it does but it's definitely a very overlooked game as it's one of the best action games of all time and gets very little mention.

    • @victorwainaina2584
      @victorwainaina2584 6 лет назад +10

      I sucked at that game (rarely ever got to level 3 difficulty, never on die) and I'm not even a technical genius who can get down and dirty with analysing start-up times to moves and planning juggles like the way Turbo Button does, but holy shit was this game one of the best I ever played. So fuuuun.

    Perhaps the best mechanical analysis on God Hand.
    One other thing about God Hand I think would have done better is the limited power ups for the roulette moves. While I understand they were done to balance the game, I wish there were more of them because I used them very few and far between.
    Also, excellent analysis on the *right stick ie dodge move* . I believe (personally) it elevates God Hand from good to great. In many action games, the defensive options are usually underdeveloped. One block or one dodge that's all.
    In God Hand, you have three kinds of dodge, which also contribute in adding more depth to your moves (positioning and attacking).

    • @theconsolekiller7113
      @theconsolekiller7113 6 лет назад +1

      Great points. The three types of dodges mapped to the stick is great. I found it very hard to up dodge as quickly as I wanted so thus I was into back flipping and then following up with jump kicks or other agressive attacks. One thing that helped was using an actual ps2 controller when playing this again on an emulator. I owned it years back. I was using xbox one elite controller and those analogs just arent close enough to my thumb for fast enough access. Sometimes using an original controller is the best way to go, especially on a hard setting.
      Alot of roulettes were useless to me. Also I would have liked to trim it down to 3 or 4 moves in the roulette for quick access. I only used a few of them. I would have prefferred left and right rolling to a side step, but I can see how many players would use that for positioning. I did a little. Was mostly into back flipping and did use up dodging in a few very specific scenarios, like getting cornered. Also to cancel the taunt from WBK move.

    I'm okay with not getting a God Hand sequel, as I feel like all the loose ends in the game were wrapped up neatly. But I would love to see a spiritual successor that takes all the stuff God Hand did, and improves upon it. I love the game, but it has niggles and issues, here and there. Which isn't a bad thing, it's expected when you're trying new things out. But man, could you imagine how good a God Hand-type game with refined and polished mechanics would be? In this stupid period of time when all anyone ever talks about is how "God of War saved gaming?" I mean, it's fine if you like the new God of War, but if the video game equivalent of a plain, untoasted bagel is what "gets you passionate about video games again," then... you need to play more video games than just whatever "cinematic experience" or Lootbox Gambling Simulator is being shoved towards you.

    This is a total hidden gem. Such a cool idea and game overall. The replayability was insane for 2006, I remember trying different setups and moves to maximize combos because this thing was hard af. The only thing I hope for is a HD remaster just as they did with Okami.

    It’s interesting what you said @9:07. I felt the same way when returning to RE4, where weapons switching is equally clunky. Only I’d say it’s more of a problem in that game than this, as you need to go in and out of menus more. I’m not sure if this is a Shinji Mikami thing, or just a dated feature of the pre 7th gen era. In any case, I’d still say Godhand is the best beat em up I’ve played, despite suffering from the usual issue that’s plagues the whole genre, where some moves are much more useful than others.

      It's most likely due to ram limitations. If I remember correctly during the development of DMC1 you couldn't have both sword and guns equipped at the same time or something along those lines.

      It's unfortunate that now that we have more powerful hardware, all it gets used for it seems like is to advance the graphics.

    Great video. Just went through the hard mode recently on the channel and it really made me appreciate the depth of the gameplay. I had to tweak alot of things and change my strategies often on a situation by situation basis. The game really forces you to adapt and has all the tools needed , even when all the enemies attack you at the same time on hard. It really is adaptable. I saw most using up dodging mainly on hard mode. I mainly back flipped and then immediately came back in with aggressive moves like jump kicks to form an evasive/agressive play style. This felt right for me and wouldnt have been possible without such a deep and broad set of gameplay systems. Really made me appreciate the game.
    The first stage took me 13 hours on hard. Pretty extreme. Thats straight gameplay. I did waste a ton of time farming the elvis boss fight (6 hours) instead of just practicing fighting him, but still. What makes the first level toughest is small life bar and way less tools (moves) and roulette orbs at your disposal. Your crowd control options are much more limited and this is essential on hard. The main difference being enemies dont relent in attacking and they all attack at once. Damage values dont seem hugely changed or changed at all.
    After that I found I was blazing through levels RELATIVELY fast compared to the first stage. So if you can get through the first stage you can beat the game. There is some very hard parts later on regardless though, but there are techniques I found to make them managable eventually.
    Two essential things for a new player attempting hard. Beat normal first of course so its fresh in your mind, have to do this to unlock hard anyway. Though I made the mistake of returning to the game 2 years later after beating normal then jumping straight to hard. I had to lure enemies out individually with taunt and throw boxes at them . Super tedious. You have to learn crowd control by the time you get to mr.gold and silver bosses and it only gets worse with crowds later on. So dont try to taunt lure your way through like I did. I ended up quitting back then in 2008.
    Get Whaam baam kablaam move and chain yanker when available. These are essential for bosses unless you are very good at fighting them straight on. You can use chain yanker to bring bosses to you stunned, then WBK to extract god hand, hit up dodge to cancel the taunt that he does after extraction, WBK one more time and cancel again then go right into the pummel. Rinse and repeat on bosses when possible. Doesnt work well for the power rangers and bosses with multiuple opponents.
    One of my favorite games of all time.

    I think I respect camera usage like God Hand and RE4 because it treats the camera as a true part of the gameplay. It considers what can typically be a clumsy and over-looked downside to gaming in three dimensions.

    Getting to level DIE in this game was the biggest case of imposter syndrome I've ever experienced in gaming. No way am I this good, chil out game, give me a chance! But the longer you can tough it out, the more rewardiing it becomes - this game has the most rewarding difficulty scaling of any game ever made. It just feels good to be good at it.
