Great video. Just wondering why would you use this method opposed to others? Like a whip and tongue or a cleft graft seem like a stronger join with less chance of oxidisation.
The prof said the scion is dormant and the rootstock is not. As long as you keep that equation true you are good to go. I'm in zone 7, so I would do this in April to give it a longer growing season. Good luck.
Brilliant grafting video never seen or heard about it. My question is how come you didn't put the bag over the entire scion & graft union to create the greenhouse effect? Would I need to use the foil paper on the graft union here in the tropics? I've never seen foul used in grafting applications here in Barbados we just use grafting tape & a plastic bag.
The foil is used to protect it against the sunlight, the bag is used simply to retain moisture and prevent the cuts in the graft area from drying out. The foil is just an extra step some people use, he even states in the video that not all people use it.
I’ll give it a try! Thanks for the lesson!!
Reality with Elmer's glue? Is that what was used? Thanks...
