What’s the difference kind of mixture you ca plant in
Excellent video, much better format than the fact sheets. I’ve grown half a dozen of the various numbered varieties such as GA 866 introduced at the Chico CA plant introduction station. All cleft grafted onto a Sherwood jujube tree. Got the budwood from Sam Powers in Santa Fe, Texas he had a huge collection of jujubes he brought back from California in the 1970s. I’ve had them processed like dates at a Gulf Coast Fruit Study Group meeting that Bill Adams hosted, they were excellent. Squirrels loved them and usually stripped them before they got ripe.
I have zero success grafting persimmons. Never have tried the banana graft. I'm sure there is a timing factor as well. When do I collect persimmon scions and when do I perform the graft? Thanks
First of all are you married
Unbelievable! I just came across this channel and I'm in shock, i didn't know those are even edible fruit trees. I had a bunch growing at the back of my property and I bulldozer them down and still they pop up from roots, they have thrones on them and the fact I didn't know they are edible I got rid of them. There are still sprouting from roots 😮 Thanks for the educational insights concerning this trees. I learned something new today!
Wish I could have heard this
Sounds like a good one to try making wine vinegar with.
Sulfuric acid is a tall order. If you got plenty of seeds, you can just soak the seeds over night. Many will swell up even though the seeds coat is intact
Soak the seeds in water with out scarification. Many will swell up. You can take the rest and snip with fingernail clippers and repeat the soak.
😊
Why are muscadine vines only found in the USA? I live in Europe and I would love to have some plants. If you know of someone in Europe please tell me. TIA
Can you plant two pink lemonade, rabbit eye plant together, and inspect germination?
Can you plant two pink lemonade, rabbit eye plant together, and inspect germination?
No drip irrigation line suspended 8” above plant? Do you have irrigation laying on the ground maybe?
As I’m watching the video (part 2), would it be proper to remove much of the clay/dirt prior to adding the shale and then the compost? Plants, compost, and 3” mulch will be how much higher than the sidewalk.
The suckers are so bad because you are using Spinosa!
hey tim!!!’thx i met you through master gardeners class at the post oak savanah office. you talked about peach trees and water. but im wondering about propagating blue berries. can you tell me anything about that or is that considered a root crop?
I planted it about 2 years ago and it refuses to grow taller than 1 foot or a little more. How old is your tree?
The mockingbirds were like thank you for planting all of this food for us and providing places for us to nest. Most humans just destroy our habitats and don't plant food for us.
Could you possibly do a video on cherry trees? I bought a lapins cherry tree about 18 months ago. The planting specialist at the nursery said "Plant in fall in full sun even in the Texas heat and it should grow 2-3 feet in the first year." It grew six inches. I asked my local gardeners/farmers and they said, "Mourn the tree. Every bug here eats every part of cherry trees." I live in zone 9a. I don't use any pesticides, and I know that soil is high in nitrogen b/c I do a lot of chop and drop in that area and not much else to fertilize or mulch.
Cherries don't grow from trees
@@nood1le Yes, they do. I believe you might be thinking about ground cherries which grow on bushes, but regular cherries grow on cherry trees.
Good Work Dr Stein❤❤❤🎉🎉

A more zoomed in would be beneficial to the viewer learner 😢 The cameraman is not experienced, what a disaster.. 😢😢
Thank you dear for excellent information
What a great video. Very informative. Thank you 🙏🙏🙏
Texas A& M, my dads first teaching post, ran through the fields of Bluebonnets as a child, beautiful memories
None of this works.
great video, I grow jujube in Phoenix az, so far so good. i eat the fruit dried like a date
What is they just fell on the ground and are brown are those any good
Thank you
Super helpful video. Thank you!
their roots can be invasive. so, be careful and not to grow them near the house.
depends on the variety, some can be very juicy and sweet. Asian use dried ones in cooking even.
I am willing to give this a shot because I have spent a TON of money on every other solution with no discernable results and dead or not very healthy looking plants. In addition, I (by me, I mean my husband) am watering a ton, and it is not helping (and I can see why now). However, your sample bed really didn't look like compacted sticky clay soil. My north central TX soil, unamended, sure does not look like that at all. It is a butter scotchy-colored, sticky mess. I would bet that my soil, recently amended, won't be "fluffy" either, but I'm still willing to give it a shot, video graphics aside!! I will definitely check back. Thank you for this video and for accompanying other videos on this topic. I saw quite a few other videos I would like to watch also.
The fruits are so colorful and fresh
Thanks for the info
Years ago, those flys were released about a 4 minute drive from my home and apparently they didn’t faze the fire ants. I spend a fortune killing fireants every year on my farm. I baited some today. I’m thinking the cold killed the flys out. We hit a -3 during Snowvid. If the Queen ant never leaves the mound, the mound won’t die from the flys.
Can it grow from seed ?
A closeup when doing the bark trim etc would be more than somewhat useful ............. and expected of a well produced video.
My neibor just cut a healthy 20 ft maples down for "reasons" but i was wondering if i grafted 3 pieces into the stump and wove them together when they got large enough would the tree strangle it self out? I dont want a tree with a big V where the limbs rot and fall off but i figures if i pointed them all inward and wove the 3 together it would grow strait up and would also have a cool base when it gets older.
I live in Nacogdoches, Texas, and I'm wondering if the muscadines are for public picking or if I could pay anyone by pound to come and pick.
Where can I get the jujube tree with large fruits? Which one is the best?
I want to plant in central Florida! Is it too warm to grow? No one sell them here! Can I get a stick or stem of it?
can I get the seeds on line?
Mine are smaller but very tasty and the suckers are true to the plant. I have no idea what variety mine is but I dug it up from my uncle's house and have 5 growing now under my original. I severed the link with the mother tree so I can transplant in the winter.
when is now ?
now
fr tho. early fall. video was posted in September.
good video review for me for my three newly planted trees today.
Can I visit the SFA vineyard and check out the specific tastes on each cultivar of muscadines?

Do You sell seeds of jujube ?
