Received mine yesterday after seeing it highlighted on the Project Farm reviews channel. It was very simple to set up and understand. I chose to clamp it into my vise instead of mounting it to the bench and using 60 grit flap discs. Loving it. Thank you for a quality product from a great American company.
I have the 5005 on order just got an email it shipped yesterday the 26th. Can’t wait to try it out! I’m sure I will not be disappointed. Every review I have found says great things about these products.
Its all that and then some. Super easy to set up and adjust. Bought the 5005 for the adjustability and am considering starting a side business sharpening blades for people.
It is June 2021 now and I have to ask how you like your 5005 now? Good or Bad I would love to know because I have been sharpening my blades by hand for 45 years and I need to find a better way. I hope to read your review.
Such a great product !!! Can’t endorse this company enough - great people - amazing products and the finished sharpened blades are perfect, every time !!!
Bought a 5005 last week, it's on the way to me. My new Gravely has 3 High Lift Copperhead blades on it (52" cut) Can't find info telling me the angle, what would you suggest?
Based on customer feedback from other Gravely owners, you will likely need the 35 or 40 degree setting to match the factory bevel on those blades. I will also share another link to a video section showing a little trick for determining the setting to match the blade bevel angle. People have liked this one. This video should start around the 1:14 mark. ruclips.net/video/2cOaGeUS8d4/видео.htmlsi=fS_ROo6A2xs-xmpB&t=74 If you have additional questions as you're getting going with your new 5005, the most efficient way to reach out is directly to our support team at support@allamericansharpener.com Thank you!
Just received mine last week. Glad I got the 5005. My John Deere blades seem to be a little different than 30degree. Still working to get the hang of it to see what works best.
Hi Kurt. Absolutely. Some John Deere blades have the most extreme angle variations we've seen. A lot of John Deere customers have said they need to set the 45 degree angle on their 5005 to get the factory (30 degree) edge. We're glad you got the 5005 too. It will serve you well once you figure out which angles are best for your blades.
@@AllAmericanSharpener Just my luck I got 1 of the hardest blades to sharpen. Lol. I know it will be easier next time. Great product well made, will definitely recommend to others.
@@carpentrylover145 Yeah, lol. Don't worry, you're not alone. And you're right, it gets easier very quickly. We appreciate your business and support. Thank you for the kind words.
I also have John Deere blades . The new blades from JD are at thirty degrees , however because of their curvature it is hard to use the sharpener as stated . I finally used a spacer on right side of blade too shift it farther to left . Once I had the spacer figure out , it works perfectly . Of course you also have to shift your grinder as far right as it will go.
I think I understand what you're asking, and the linked video about raising the vise screws may be helpful to you. ruclips.net/video/lUw2R6YVa80/видео.html You can also check our other instructional videos at www.allamericansharpener.com/resources Thank you for your interest!
Yes, many Toro blades need the 35, or even sometimes the 40, degree angle to match the factory bevel. If you do not have the Model 5005, you may still be able to get the angle needed by shimming the right side of the blade. I will share a link below to a video demonstrating that process. ruclips.net/video/AsxFUD07mGc/видео.html If you need assistance, feel free to contact our support team at the email below: support@allamericansharpener.com We will always do our best to help.
A good starting point is a 36 or 40 grit flap disc. Some people prefer something that removes less, and some people prefer something that removes more material per swipe. But a 36 or 40 grit flap disc does the job without gouging over easily overheating the metal.
We appreciate the input and will try to make sure that is mentioned in a future video. After we finish any video, we always think of things we wish we would have said differently, or things we didn't mention, but could have. But we'll keep trying!
What angle would you recommend for the blades on a Ferris ISX800 with a 61” ICD deck? My 5005 just came today. Have not mounted or used it yet, but it seems to be very nice quality.
Hi Bill. We hesitate to say we know a blade angle for sure. But most Ferris customers have said the 35 degree setting seems to be the best match. Thanks for your business!
Brian - Please send an email to support@allamericansharpener.com with a photo of the blade or a blade part number. We will take a look and give you our recommendation. Thank you for your interest!
I'm a 63 y/o widow who does all my own maintenance on my Cub Cadet zero turn and Honda push mower. I do a LOT of mowing and sure wish I had one of these because I just don't do a great job of sharpening my blades just with an electric grinding wheel. Alas, my fixed, limited income prohibits me from owning one. :( Santa Claus, please take note :(
We hope Santa Claus gets the memo, and brings you a sharpener to make maintenance a bit easier for you. (Let him know there is typically a 10% off Black Friday promotion). Respect for you taking care of business on your own!

Can you provide details of setting up the screws that hold the various thickness blades?

What disc do you reccomend using to sharpen the blade for my angle grinder?

Where do I go to order?
