As part of a major transmission investment plan, Luz del Sur managers decided to expand & modernize the grid to serve the growing number of customers and demand for electricity. Together with Siemens, Luz del Sur automized the high-voltage substation Los Sauces using process bus technology. The latter digitalizes the information at the process level and communicates via fiber optic cables to the protection.
