@@TheFishinMagician20 Supposedly it's not so bad. You fillet them like any other fish, but you'll end up with Y-bones in the fillet that are not difficult to remove after they're cooked. I've never had the chance to fish for them though. Here in Arizona you're required to immediately kill or release the pike you catch, presumably to make sure anglers aren't moving around apex predator fish in a condition where they could reproduce, which would be bad news for any waters where they aren't already present. So if you intend to keep them, you better bring a cooler instead of a stringer. That's the one thing I think would make things difficult.
Awesome video. I have been wanting to go there for over a month now. Super cool to watch you guys slaying it. I thought about taking the canoe and trolling it too. Hopefully I will go soon 🤞. Great job man
a little tip for pike in az, go to Munds Park, caught two nice pike about the size of the last one about a month ago in Odell Lake. Golf courses are stocked too, gotta be sneaky though. Goodluck boys
I'm surprised the water came down even more since the last time we were there. I thought this last few Winters would have fixed that problem but apparently not. Maybe they let it out for other reasons. I was fishing that Lake with 2 lb test 😂

I have some GREAT pike swim bait lures. They absolutely love them. They're the Storm wildeye live perch lure. They come in bags of 4 or 5 and they have the tail that spins. That and a steel leader works great! Hold the pike down by it's eyes to avoid those teeth
Lower Lake Mary about a decade ago now we threw copper johns and elk hair caddis all day must have caught over 100 not a fish story. Waded out a bit and almost every cast was a rainbow. Also ,as a trout fisher feel free to get rid of the pike. Invasive anyway. Thanks for the video!
@@SilverThePeacemaker hahaha nope last trip I caught 4 and I wasnt even targeting them. Trip before that my dad and I got 10 and none nicer ones. You’ll slay em!
Wish they could find a way to keep water in that lake. It’s so very productive for trout, but they can’t survive with how they lose water. I could just imagine a fish surviving 3 years in the could truly be something to behold. Not a pike guy, wish they weren’t there, but I’ve hooked a couple of tanks that ended up biting through my tippet
I am visiting Tucson soon and didnt plan for any fishing gear in my luggage. Looks like I should bring at least 2 diffferent power rods and reels now. 😅
I’m here in Avondale/buckeye area just fishing in park ponds.. I just lost one due to what I believe was my line of possibly 6lbs. What lb. and type of line would you suggest I use for these waters?

Love Lake Mary! Well, I have only fished at Upper Lake Mary, Lower was completely dried up at the time(2022)! It was a big green grassy field then, I would watch elk & mule deer graze out there from the parking lot right by the dam. I caught a 30lb northern pike in I believe July of that year, iirc, in Upper Lake Mary. There's video of it on my channel! It hit a big Strike King KVD squarebill crankbait(chartreuse w/black back) on 30lb Spiderwire braid (which broke!). I had to jump down & grab it with both hands!! I have caught sooooo many pike & walleyes there, big ones too, got LOTS of videos of em, check em out! There are also still pics on my community page. I was doing the #vanlife thing & just traveling & fishing every day... In the wintertime I'd stay down at Lake Havasu. Aaahhh, that was the life!
Most all them upper lakes got left overs! I’m from Seattle ain’t seen nothing comparable until I went up northeast to big lake, knoll lake and chevlon all got rainbows over 24-26” 4-5lbs. If you like big cuttthroat follow the stream down end of chevlon 150-200yds stealth mode cause there watching trust me! Goodluck rippin
I used to fish this lake s all the time growing up. I would fish on the other side also in waders. My pb there was over 5lbs on the fly rod. I miss fishing there. But if you want big pike, go to the upper lake to the far in. The pike in the lower lake are minnows. Don't know if you can still crappie and blue gill, unless I caught them all before I moved.
We worked the shore line. Oh yes there is. I don't remember the time of year, but at the end of the lake where you will find channels, the big ones would hang out there to spawn.
Those are some nice rainbows, I'll trade you my PB pike at 37" for a 4+ pound rainbow. Your videos help me a lot because I miss fishing with my dad back home and it helps me out a lot. Thank you for the wonderful content.
Going fishing, aiming for PB and doesn't bring the net.... it's like going to pick up the grandparents from the trainstation but you take the bicycle instead of the car :P
