I love how none of these videos I've watched address how to get the custom domain to show up in settings.
This info is precious. Nowhere was mentioned to delete the Squarespace default settings. Google instructions is always useless. Thank you!

Thank you, you have explained it perfectly but it still isn't working for me, when I put in the verification code and setting you recommend I get a message pop up but not long enough for me to be able to read it and then it takes me back to the beginning again. Have you heard of this happening before and if so do you have any ideas about how i can get it to work

Yeah I was stuck because i didn't know to delete the custom field that squarespace already setup, when i would try to add the new dns record it kept giving me an error. thanks for clarifying!
my square space website got conected but not my google website, what could be the problem, the txt space was automatically verified so I only have CNAME custom added on mysquare but not txt, should I delete the domain and start again

Squarespace does not allow adding records and can not delete default squarespace

I connected it but now can’t get workspace to work
I did everything by myself before seeing this video.
The problem is:
1. I used 'ADD PRESET' on squarespace instead of 'ADD RECORD' custom
2. I didn't see this video before and deleted two custom domains on my sites.google site. I deleted DNS settings confirmation from both domains on squarespace. I did it because I saw this video and wanted to do it all over again by this steps. After I deleted everything, now on google site when I got thru this process it doesn't ask for confirmation. It gives mi this option with setting up CNAME straight away, which I skiped first time and that's why I deleted everything to go all over again. Now when it gives me this instructions, on squarespace dns settings custom records it rejects everything I do trying to connect CNAME by saying it is invalid dns configuration.
What should I do??

MAKE SURE THE GOOGLE SITE IS SET TO BE SHARED "PUBLIC."
keep getting an error message that it can't connect and to try again later. contact support. Yeah, right, you try contacting them!

@@TedDenver I use Google Chrome, but when I went onto Microsoft Edge, I managed to sort it out. You have to delete the Squarespace files. Once you have done that, you can add your TXT. Hope this helps you.

@@movietalktv1209 I fixed the error on my end. in my case, my host is Google sites. I I went to my Google site dashboard I toggled on the upper right “share this website”. The dropbox appeared. I had my site public. I toggle that to not public and then again toggle to public . That fixed it. Good luck. Let me know if it works for you .
