Front wheel lean is used to keep the front wheels from sliding off the desired line, to shorten turn radius, and to reduce front sliding on slopes or in turns on motor graders.

Len David Hart Same here and I still don't truly understand and the thing that it is so difficult to get answers for that is honestly beyond me too lol I love to see how engineered products are designed and for what reason... Helicopters and locomotives is another one of those secrets I feel I just can not get a good understanding of either...

@@lightbulb1982 hi light bulb, i kinda of maybe thought it (the front wheel lean) was to bring the front part of the frame closer to the ground, but that really doesn't make sense. But thanks for your reply.

Hey guys, I too remember seeing this as a kid and being confused. Although I didn't understand it until I got into racing and setting up front end parts to help corner better. The front wheel lean on a grader can help with several issues. Although one of the easiest is working against the blade. So if you have your blade angled and are pushing dirt to one side. That dirt will be heavy and the dirt will actually try to push the front of the grader which is lighter than the rear. If dirt is exiting to the left side the front of the grader will start tracking to the right. Then lean the top of the tires to the left. Now the bottom left edge of the tires will bite into the dirt and anchor the front of the machine of that makes sense.

It wold help if you didn't have a dirty great big dozer blade in the front so we could see clearly.
