@@kenshirogenjuro873 He actually provided reasons to support his own theory on why he thought that Arrowlake would destroy AMD. He pointed out that the limitations of AMD's infinity fabric would prevent it from beating Arrowlake. I'm not hating on the guy for trying to predict what would happen. He tried his best. There is nothing wrong with being wrong sometimes, as long as you humbly admit to being wrong.

@@matthewelisha8797 he also does videos where he argues the complete opposite. He does this frequently. Then at the end it’s always “but maybe that’s just what I think, what do you think?” It’s not a bad formula to encourage discussion that gets his channel more engagement.

    I'm fine with my $150 i5-13600K at 5.6GHz ($90 for my used Z690 and 64GB DDR4). GB6 Single = 3073 vs 9800X3D's 3305. GB6 Multi = 14619 vs 9800X3D's 18221, and I only play games 20% of the time on my computer. Used RTX 3080 for $260. Love these new CPU's and GPU's everyone upgrades to.

As a percentage of the buying public very few will be overclocking their CPUs.....and personally I think that unless you are ok with upgrading every two three years then I wouldn't risk it. I think the stock performance should be what is focused upon with overclocking as an aside.

But would you Upgrade on a 650 'Board, or would you Upgrade the 'Board as well to the 800 Series.... I have the ASRock PG Riptide, and I'm Happy with it on the 7800X3D, and if that Board is good enough for a 9800X3D, I'm all over it... 🤪

Keep b650 unless you want something specific from the new boards. I might have to ugprade at some point because i got a PCIE 4.0 b650, but we'll see how much that affects performance for PCIE 5.0 GPU's later.

You can always sell the 7800x3d. Marginal loss. If the 9800x3d won't be a large performance boost it won't be worth the difference anyway.

From what we've seen from Red gaming video today the 9800 ex 3D will be 8% faster at 1080p and 0% faster at 2K and 4k I wouldn't fuss over returning the CPU just yet we still don't know the final performance with video benchmarks

Cinebench and Geekbench, dont translate into gaming..and no one is buying an 8 core X3D chip for anything other than gaming.
People will be lucky to see 10% more perf in games..I dont know if I could be bothered replacing my 7800X3D for that, and I've got a full custom loop too, so its not like I couldnt OC one either.

All the processor has to beat is is last year model. There's a reason the cpus are capped the way they are, and it has to do with your monitors' refresh rate. If they just went hard as they could, you would never buy another product because your 3080 maxed out your 1440p monitor 144hz refresh rate. Well, that would defeat the purpose of their market scam, wouldn't it?

I have to ask, why, though?
Unless you are running a 360Hz monitor at 1080P why do you need your CPU to be that fast?
I'd rather crank up the res to 4K and play at 60Hz while having extra cores sitting on the side lines ready to take over any random tasks that pop up in the background.
I am looking for an upgrade from my 3970X threadripper as it is just now starting to show it's age, and I am leaning more towards the 9950X as the 7970X plus platform upgrade is way to expensive anymore.

It'll improve frame times and limit stutters in most games. Some more than others, you never know when you'll be CPU limited.
