    So you profesional players are human after all. Watching you struggle practicing is a morale boost for amateurs like me. Of course I am not a hundredth of the player you are and I struggle with much easier pieces, but still... thank you!

      just do it slow.. what I learned over the years.. even if you thnk you'll never be able to play it.. play it slow it helps alooooot! and soon you'll get it.. metronome helps too after you can play it slow so you can go faster and faster

    I'm myself a classical guitarist and also a cellist, and i really like what you do (in general) but especially in this very honest video. To everyone who isn't a musician : this IS what looks like working and learning music is. Thank you Alexandra !

      You're THE person I've been meaning to find! I play the classical guitar and also own a cello. For years I've been putting off picking up the cello for real. My question is: do nails present a problem for holding the cello bow?

    • @Bu-bo-Bu-bo
      @Bu-bo-Bu-bo 3 года назад +3

      @@FaithlessDwarf Ahahhh, this question.
      That's a funny question. I have *never* been able to have real nails as a guitar player, my teacher "accepted" that (I ended with abrsm 8 + 1 or 2 years (i am in a country with a different system but i know this one so maybe it helps you), and he sort of dropped the case and tried to get the best of me with shorter nails.
      Today i'm more of a cellist, but i still play guitar, so without nail. Sorry if i can't give you the right answer :)

    • @DaMastaMynd
      @DaMastaMynd 3 года назад +138

      @@TheCompleteGuitarist Hard disagree on both counts. I think there is a time and place where each approach has its advantages - at least, in the Western classical tradition. Learning from sheets makes it easier to get an understanding of the structure and theory of a piece. Learning by ear trains your mind's ear and helps you to develop your own voice and interpretation. Ideally you learn some music both ways.

    I think these “practice with me” videos are BRILLIANT! I especially like the tremolo one you did, to learn that famous piece whose name I’ll never learn to pronounce.
    Too many well intentioned guitar tutorial videos are so perfect, you think, no way I can get there. But a largely unedited “practice with me” or “play along with me” video bridges the gap. 👍👍

    Hello Alexandra... I really love your version of «Capricho Árabe» and I think the video is amazing as well. (You look beautiful in that red dress). I’ve been emotionally busy (I hadn’t even started to play some video-games I bought which I love and are less stressing than practicing music); what I mean is that we love what we do, but it is complicated. Watching you practice is very nice, but it reminds me those endless hours... (I don’t know how to say it, because music is not easy, but lately I’d started to think it shouldn’t). It should ve like playing :D (in Spanish we have a different word for ‘playing music’)... I really like to watch you practicing; it is very intimate. I am very confused about this strange and amazing world we live in. I hope good artists can help the people connect again with the Planet. Cheers :-)
