- Hello there, how are ya? Welcome to ~ howididit ~ My mothers pool pump went out, so I bought a 1 1/2 hp pool pump off amazon for $159. and installed it in a day. Florida had some junky weather so not much filming was done, but I think over all it came out pretty good.

What kind of glue is the black glue? I'd make sure the glue you used is meant specifically for PVC since plastic fittings aren't "glued", they are technically solvent welded connections. The glue (solvent) needs to be compatible with the type of plastic for a long lasting and reliable connection.
It was for the black PVC pipes on my RV. I sure made a mess of it, but for now it is working. I think I may have to revisit this in the future, but at the time it is all I had on hand.
@@howididit Though uncommon, I have seen black PVC before, you'd have to check what it was. Usually black is ABS and that's a different plastic and solvent from PVC. Luckily your pump pieces are easy to redo if they leak down the road, but it should hold for a good while even if it was ABS solvent.

that is ABS glue not pvc glue . there is no such thing as black pvc glue
How did you hardwire inside new pump? Has extension cord quick connects.
I hard wired a gfci, and plugged the pump in.

This pump still working good?
It is. The one down side is the shaft seal sprung a leak, I'm sure it's due to the old surface(skin coating) of the pool coming off the sides of my pool when vacuuming. I am still happy with the pump, and I am trying to find replacement seals as this will be an ongoing issue unless i have the pool resurfaced.
@howididit how is the suction power? I am looking for a pump that has suction lift more then 10' that can move a lot of water through a 24' filter
@@floydbeard5073 suction is good, I would go with the the 2 hp if I had it to do all over
