    I like this level of mechanic videos where people explain what they are doing and why.

    get yourself a new fd fan shroud, and S2 series RX-8 R3 Fan Motors: N3R115150 ( You will need 2 of these) and the rx8 fan blades.
    Right Fan Blade: RF1S15140
    Left Fan Blade: RF2A15140, it cool better, it doubles the cfm. i also have a vmount and i don’t regret doing this with the rx8 fans and blades.

    Great video! I appreciate you showing that car problems don’t get solved overnight. With the shoddy work that shop did, you could prob subtitle every video with: “but wait there’s more!”

    These videos with full "hey look what I found" shots of the shoddy workmanship the 👿 Motorsports shop did is an eye opener. Where's the integrity and honesty?

    What a sweet neighbor!
    That's how the fluid out of my FD looked when i first bought it, old Fluidyne Rad, botched "fresh rebuild" by Tri-Point than sat for years

    This car/series is an eye opener to call out this nonsense without mentioning name we all know who is being addressed and I am glad im not the only one who had a problem with them as i was sourcing and buying parts i went to them as i figured they were “The Ones” to go to for Rotaries and they were close enough but it was just horrible and the best part was the no response when I asked for things

      Crazy to see somebody else went through the same exact crap. As I said I went through the same with the east coast shop to open up my motor a year later and finding super crappy and shady work done(have an entire list of stuff from 2 years ago you wouldn’t believe). After paying for a full build. Including car and engine build..

    Remove the thermostat for flushing for sure, I mean it’s pretty darn easy to get to. Make sure u put it back in though 💯. You can drill a small 1/8-1/4” hole in a thermostat for an old-timers trick to lower temps a touch under oem, but by now im sure there’s an aftermarket solution for lower thermostat. Just make sure u don’t take it out entirely, I made that mistake once and the water moved through-out the cooling system so fast that it didn’t have anytime actually dissipate any heat & i over heated my Starion

      I removed the thermo for flushing. I left it out briefly until we get everything painted and pretty

  • @RETMTM
    @RETMTM Год назад +4

    When I flushed my FD it was disgusting. I should have done it way sooner. I ran a cleaner through it and flushed it several times using tap water and it took ages to clear up. Yes, my engine was happy to dump the fluid but refilling was a nightmare each time. It's like it air locks and you need to run the engine to operating temp so the thermostat opens and allows the fluid to get into the heater core and push the air out. Talk about burping an engine....
    I won't be leaving it too long this time. In fact I'll likely do it annually. Because here in Australia we don't get freezing weather where I am I just used an anti corrosion green coolant.

    • @djthewafflehouseconnoisseu9403

      The burping process took me 3 hours today. I probably overdid it, but you’ll be surprised the next video

    I used ThermoCure and was happy with how well it removed rust. The first three flushes were really gross, and after about six or seven flushes it was mostly clear. Don't forget the block drain; the water pump inlet & outlet are both up high so there will be a lot of coolant left in the engine if you neglect the block drain. ruclips.net/video/V7vuNVo9O0M/видео.html

    • @djthewafflehouseconnoisseu9403
      @djthewafflehouseconnoisseu9403 Год назад +1

      I drained the block each time, total it took about 20 gallons to clear it. After testing the “coolant” they charged him for, I learned it was tap water and rust.

    Of course the V-mount is crooked! Holy hell the fan mounting is horrific. This build just doesn't get any better. We did superior work when we were rotary swapping a BRZ in 72 hours. We had it running better than this car as you got it in 11 days of work, hahaha. This is just pathetic. I understand if a shop is overloaded and trying to push stuff out the door, not that they should do that, but even my quickest work is better than this. Looks like that intercooler has a pinhole leak and the turbo drain probably isn't working perfectly so some oil is passing through the intercooler. Just a guess. Not only did they not use corrosion inhibiting coolant with mixed metals and cast iron, but the coolant reservoirs aren't set up correctly either. FWIW oil pan leaks are incredibly common and it's a pain to seal them up, but still not really an excuse. Also strange the oil level sensor is missing given it was a stock FD at one point and it has the connector for it. Wooow they didn't even use an OEM thermostat and that gasket is definitely reused. Everything rusted and cruddy. Looks like they used hard tap water. Wooooooooooow a stripped bolt too what a surprise. This is one of those cars where you can count on every single thing that has been touched being wrong. One of the only other builds I saw this bad was the Miata on I Do Cars. Holy crap. I really hope they didn't do much wiring.
