I have had the first Mrs Grimshaw telling off. I recall it's when I went through my 'pester campers' phase. I didn't intend to kill them but they shot at me first! I also noticed that Arthur admits killing innocent people to Tilly during one of their conversations.
The interactions with Tily, Karen and Mary-Beth are all pretty cool and add a lot to Arthur’s character when you first see them but they’re also forced to make Arthur seem terrible, and not based on anything the player actually does like you may first think. Even if you don’t kill a single animal or don’t kill people outside missions, Arthur’s dialogue will always stay the same when doing these talks.
@Brandon it could be based on his life before the game and the weight is finally bearing down on him. He's in his 30s after all, that's plenty of time to rack up unnecessary kills.

It's why I try to only shoot members of other gangs, even when doing challenges because I'll either lose honor or trigger these conversations...regardless, I still get them though.

If they were to do it realistically simply shooting one innocent person would make it extremely hard to compensate with good actions and therefore accidentally killing someone would be immensely frustrating. Also, if the honor was calculated relatively from good and bad actions over an extended period of time (let's say from the start of the playthrough), the more you play, the more unbalanced your honor would go to one side and it might become boring as any actions that impact your honor late game would barely count towards the total.
in certain places it might surprise you that human lives basically have no intrinsic worth to them, there are gang members that would literally think nothing of killing you, scary but true

I've also had the conversations with the girls about "killing animals needlessly" because I was getting pelts for Pearson/food for the camp.
I think the girls should have had the "killing animals needlessly" chat with my horse instead. Damn thing will trample any small creature in a 3m radius

Just walking by any of the gang hideouts draws the whole gang out to try to kill you so I just farmed them for supplies and what bits of money and valuables they'd cough up. I once hid from the law inside the one house in hanging dog ranch and they never came to search the upstairs so when the wanted meter went away I just walked out the front door and they were all standing there to tell me to move along as they were doing an investigation. lol.

Killing innocent people and animals just feel so wrong in this game. Like I get it’s a video game but still. It just isn’t right. Even outlaws have standards. Sure you can kill anything in this game. But why would you?
I always play serial killer Arthur. At first he only killed lone people deep in the wild, when it was safe, secluded. But after he gets sick, and the gang starts falling apart, Arthur gets reckless, desperate. He starts killing on the road, in towns, in broad daylight. His world is closing in. And in the end, he goes back for the money, for revenge. When he dies, he's getting his just desserts. Not the typical way to play Arthur, I know.

I got the Dutch line randomly in my “good” play through and was super confused lol the only people I killed were story mission people I was told to kill and people who attacked me first in the open world lol

I was literally just sitting in line at the trapper in Saint Denis and someone punched me, come on. It's not my fault I shot up the town because the law came after me.
I shot a guy because he looked like the person who ambushed me earlier…he was not. I was in Saint Denis so chaos ensued. I didn’t bother trying murder all the lawmen or people after me, I just fled. Later I did have turn around and shoot someone who was following me.
I’m full dark side Arthur Morgan dress in all black with a all black American standardbred horse any npc that gets in my way or disrespects my clothes or annoys me I end them permanently any witnesses that tries to run for the law I end them I just finish a 1 hour battle with the police in Saint Denis I had to escape in the swaps because I ran out of tonics the whole battle started because some npc ran me over because I was in the middle of the road checking the map I don’t let nobody push Arthur Morgan around the dark side of the force is a pathway to many abilities some consider it to be unnatural
Haven’t had these conversations yet but I had one with Tilly where Arthur confesses to her that his been killing a lot of innocent people and doesn’t know why

Rockstar's attention to detail is godlike. 6 years ago this released and I'm learning new things everyday. I cannot even imagine how GTA 6 will be, another masterpiece that will bring another level into gaming!
I can't imagine playing this game without a sense of morality. Of course, one of the great things about RDR2 is that you have the freedom to be bad, and that's why it's so much more rewarding to be good
I remember when I first started playing the game. I found out about the skinning animations and then I found out you can catch animals on horseback w your lasso. After that, every trip I'd lasso, get close too, stab in the throat, and skin an animal. The does were the best because they made this squealing noise and had a genuine look of fear in their eyes. Anyways, Arthur sat down to talk w the girl (forgot her name, the young one) and only when he told her he's been killing innocent animals for fun and is scared that he doesn't care did I realise what I was doing
I was in strawberry in the basement of the jail just slaughtering the entire town and every lawman for miles...I got a good 140-150 kills in and this dude turns the corner with his revolver - I was mid reload - he missed his first shot and right before I was able to get a shot off to kill him he goes full Jerry Miculek and sprays me in the face with at least 180 rounds in 1.2 seconds.

Which is why I never do anything wantonly malicious in games (I try to avoid it as often as possible though i oftentimes enjoy setting enemy NPCs on fire and things of the like).

I have absolutely no desire to hurt people in the real world, But I love gunning down innocent people for no reason in video games.
Games are all about freedom of choice, shooting the whole town of valentine doesn't mean you have murderous intent in real life, is just a game have some fun

I got that first dialogue from Susan after I dealt with tough boys from Van Horn. They weren't innocent, in fact they were the one who drew first, and I just said hello

I got the Dutch line randomly in my “good” play through and was super confused lol the only people I killed were story mission people I was told to kill and people who attacked me first in the open world lol
This happens even if you don't. It's supposed to only be triggered by that, but can be triggered by killing just one.

I’ve done it so much and in such rapid succession I triggered these tribal drums to start playing instead of the usual ambient soundtrack. I’ve gotten that a few times.
I was literally just sitting in line at the trapper in Saint Denis and someone punched me, come on. It's not my fault I shot up the town because the law came after me.
I shot a guy because he looked like the person who ambushed me earlier…he was not.
I was in Saint Denis so chaos ensued.
I didn’t bother trying murder all the lawmen or people after me, I just fled.
Later I did have turn around and shoot someone who was following me.

I’m full dark side Arthur Morgan dress in all black with a all black American standardbred horse any npc that gets in my way or disrespects my clothes or annoys me I end them permanently any witnesses that tries to run for the law I end them I just finish a 1 hour battle with the police in Saint Denis I had to escape in the swaps because I ran out of tonics the whole battle started because some npc ran me over because I was in the middle of the road checking the map I don’t let nobody push Arthur Morgan around the dark side of the force is a pathway to many abilities some consider it to be unnatural
Haven’t had these conversations yet but I had one with Tilly where Arthur confesses to her that his been killing a lot of innocent people and doesn’t know why

I can't imagine playing this game without a sense of morality. Of course, one of the great things about RDR2 is that you have the freedom to be bad, and that's why it's so much more rewarding to be good

I remember when I first started playing the game. I found out about the skinning animations and then I found out you can catch animals on horseback w your lasso. After that, every trip I'd lasso, get close too, stab in the throat, and skin an animal. The does were the best because they made this squealing noise and had a genuine look of fear in their eyes. Anyways, Arthur sat down to talk w the girl (forgot her name, the young one) and only when he told her he's been killing innocent animals for fun and is scared that he doesn't care did I realise what I was doing

The canon way to play is to be the best person u can be, it opens new missions and diologues to explore. Afterall, the game is about redemption

I was in strawberry in the basement of the jail just slaughtering the entire town and every lawman for miles...I got a good 140-150 kills in and this dude turns the corner with his revolver - I was mid reload - he missed his first shot and right before I was able to get a shot off to kill him he goes full Jerry Miculek and sprays me in the face with at least 180 rounds in 1.2 seconds.
I wonder if they'll still do this if you keep killing the same amount, but also say hi to everyone in town to balance out your good cowboy points
