@@caramangoel very good point. MRF management has actually badly hurt the interest of minority shareholders. By not splitting they stock the stock or giving bonuses they have actually not shared the profits of the company and tried to increase liquidity and retail participation. All companies that have created wealth over long term have done so by giving bonus shares which are given from retained earnings or reserves or by splitting stocks which helps retail investors by making stock price more affordable and hence increasing liquidity.

In 1970, my grandfather's salary was around 1100 rupees per annum. Buying even 100 shares for 17/- would be a hell of an investment at that time. Instead, he bought a 400 sq yards plot for 2000 rupees with a loan. Three generations lived here with the whole family. (No rent for 50 years which is dividends). Now it's a commercial plot and is at a price of 4 crores. Now that's a planned long term investment. Buying some stock and waiting 50 years to grow is pure luck.

And pay 2% in brokerage charges. You still make 8%. And finally the old days are gone. Today equity market participation is so widespread and so much liquidity is present in markets you have to nimble to invest in markets. Just a few months ago Bajaj Finance was at 4500 plus. It fell as much to 2000. a trader would have made money even if sold at 4000 and bought at 2500. Investor who bought at 3500 is still holding with losses.

@@1wordOneWord you can make it. that is what trading is about. At lock down stage my total portfolio had fallen by 60%. Now it has recovered by 60% due to smart trading. Had I not been nimble I would have never been able to do it. Having said that I am no expert. I am just trying to cover my losses. Only then can I say something. Till then I have to respect the market.
