You take someone else's shares and sell it someone at a higher price and then once its price falls, you buy it back from whom you sold it to and give back the shares to the original custodian, thereby earning a small profit margin in the midst. Hope this made it clear. I hope I am right here as per my understanding. :)
Amazing example. If you can help me to understand my only question about short selling In Bullish intraday transaction I am investing 10000k rs and selling at 12000 rs which means I got the profit of 2000 rs but the investment amount was mine hence I can say that I added some profit to my initial investment. Here in short selling I sold the shares for 10000k and bought it back in 8000k. Since I was selling it initially I didn't have to invest but when buying back I had to pay 8000k which were from my pockets. So how exactly I can consider this as profit? Thanks!

golden chance people buy ker lo apeejay surrendra park hotels in ipo only 10 percent ratail . listing mai 3 fund house buy all retai public holding about zero hai see bulk deal . 100 percent money only in one share a
The most important thing this person forgets to mention is ....in normal buy sell the trader can loose only his money 100% ...that is buy a share for 15 rs...if t goes to zero ..he only loses 15 rs per share that's all. Because the stock price can not go below zero on a normal buy sell trade. ..but in a short sell ..if she sells a share at 15 rs first....then the stock can rise up to any number on same day ...say 45 rupees ...then the loss is 30 rs on a 15 rs share . This is theoretically and practically possible in an auction sale and this is dangerous. The potential for loss in a short sell is very high...higher than the stock price itself.
@@7srider ...no . Stop loss should be in mind only . Not to be kept in system. Because these small brokers (who give free trading or less charge ) sell the stoploss data to big traders ...who do stoploss hunting on your orders and retail traders loose. So never keep stoploss in system and keep in mind and execute that stop loss order if the price goes there.

For those confused after seeing the Gamestock Shortselling news, just know that USA does not have MIS. Unlike India, they are not forced to sell/payback on the same day, however they have to pay a small % of interest for every day they keep the stocks. The hedge companies had borrowed the stocks and planned to keep it for few days, before planning to sell when Gamestock is almost bankrupt. The reddit people at r/Wallstreetbetssay saw this, decided they will do something about it, and started buying GameStop shared to raise its price (they did it mainly because they hate Hedge Fund billionaires who do this trick repeatedly, ruining the lives of millions of people). Now those Hedgefund companies are in big trouble as they have to pay back those stocks at a high price /a big loss.

The reason why short-selling is allowed is because it pumps liquidity in the specific stock or market. So for example stock falls 10% in a day because of some news then there will be very few people who will dare to buy fresh quantity because of that there will be liquidity shortage and those who hold that stock already but they want to sell now so to complete that order buyer needs to be there. That is when a short-seller comes in the picture who had sold that stock and now to complete the order he has to buy. Dear Mam, Please correct me if I am wrong?
It's strange how people talk about all the profits, they've been making through trading of bitcoin, while am here not making any profit at all. Please can Someone put me through on the right path.
No it's not a gamble. I use to think that also when I was making lots of losses and I fell into debts. So my pastor in the church introduced me to a professional trader who helped me to trade
Camila is right. Look for a reliable trader and that understand how the market works and allow the person to trade for you instead of losing money trading yourself
Sorry to say that this is a wrong information. What you explained is SHORTING, which is done in intraday or in Futures. Short selling is borrowing shares from brokers at a certain interest rate & selling it today to buy it later (may be after few days or weeks) at a lower price. Short selling is currently banned by SEBI till 30 July 2020 (which may extend). I hope you correct it & provide accurate information.
yes I too was thinking what the lady is saying is not accurate. You are right short selling is basically selling shares you do not have in your account and then buying them later on essentially borrowed funds called margin money which is provided by your broker as loan in lieu of funds you provide. So you pay a part of the money and later on when you make the gains you return the funds. What Rachna is saying is shorting so you know or predict the price movement and hence sell the stock and buy it at lower price in the future. This is exactly called as shorting. So its not exactly the same.

I saw 3 videos before watching your video, and it was only your video which helped me understand short selling. Thank you, you are awesome!

Indeed a very important point missed which could potentially cause huge losses
That's why stop loss is the most important aspect in trading
@@7srider ...no . Stop loss should be in mind only . Not to be kept in system. Because these small brokers (who give free trading or less charge ) sell the stoploss data to big traders ...who do stoploss hunting on your orders and retail traders loose. So never keep stoploss in system and keep in mind and execute that stop loss order if the price goes there.

Hi Rachna, lucky enough to find you as a stock mentor... just awesome explanation
Thnx man! I was really confused about the MIS condition in USA.
The MIS point indeed is helpful. But I just read, they still have to have a Margin A/C to short sell.
@@yugen3968 YES, Margin A/C is a must, but for those billionaire hedge funds, its like spare change.

It's important for trader to have patience and maintain a positive attitude focused on learning and also test, develop and optimize your trading system to make it profitable.
Traders should avoid trading in markets they do not fully understand to avoid trading when the market is too volatile for their trading plan.

How do you mean, am new and still lack the experience any tips would be very much appreciated.
I heard it's also very risky trading option and you can easily lose your capital without a proper knowledge.
Am currently invested with a pro brokerage firm where my trades are been managed by their top expert market analyst Eric Grinwis, so far these past five months his ensured my trades are profitable after each trade cycle.
Am curious how does these work.
It's more of a partnership, all based on a share percentage. He does the legwork required to pick stocks and execute orders, provides complete investment management to achieve your specified goals.
