So I just learned something amazing on the wikipedia page for this movie: "Before Rowan Atkinson was cast as Emile Mondavarious in the film, Tim Curry was originally offered for the role, but later turned it down after learning that Scrappy-Doo was going to be in the film." *Scrappy is so annoying that Tim Curry didn't even want to be in a movie featuring him!*
This movie was apparently originally going to be darker and more adult, but the studio Warner bros wanted the movie to be more kid friendly and be more like the cartoon. It does explain a lot of the movies weird mood swings and inconsistent tone.
Fun fact- Tim Curry was going to play Rowan Atkinsons part until he found out Scrappy Doo was in the movie, he quit the movie because he hates scrappy Doo
Your description beat me to it, I was gonna say at least there's one positive... Matthew Lillard is an amazing Shaggy. Also this movie has the nostalgia factor for me.
42jwiener apparently Matthew loves Scooby Doo. Freddie Prinze Jr was also a pretty good choice for Fred. This movie had a lot of potential but couldnt fulfill it

You know on rewatching this something occurs to me. When Shaggy released his friends souls they wound up in the wrong body. Then ALL the souls in that bowl including presumably the people who'd already left the island and are scattered all over the globe get dumped out at once. So its pretty much guaranteed a lot of them are not in their original bodies at this point.
When you’re a 9 year old watching this movie in 2002 it seemed like a really good movie. Many years later when you watch it again you feel bad for making your parents sit through this when you were 9 lol.
Shaggy used 2 percent of his power to make the movie in a instant, they had to delay the movie a year to filter it so whoever watched it won’t die instantly
My scooby childhood see the nostalgia. I remember the movies coming to see the out of the magical wedge scene 😂😂 how much funny to see the way of the rest participating in the matthew willer and be the saying "no pain and no gain" 😂 I hope is I remember for all the living it.

"Scooby-Doo" (2002) is okay but "Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed" (2004) is the greatest Scooby-Doo live-action film ever. My Rankin of the 5 live-action Scooby-Doo films: 5: "Daphne & Velma" (2018) [I haven't seen it ever and not plan to] 4: "Scooby-Doo! Mystery Begins" (2009) 3: "Scooby-Doo" (2002) 2: "Scooby-Doo! +Jacen Cage Perhaps. Another thing to keep in mind is that this is no longer the psychodelic era. Those values would not exist during the time the film came out. Four friends and their dog living a communal lifestyle and traveling all over the place in a van, taking mind-altering drugs and hooking up with each other? That's not going to work anymore.

A context for several of these "sins" is the fact that this movie was originally intended to be PG-13, in fact - as is mentioned at 13:17 - I read something about there being an R-rated cut. Some of the less-kid-friendly deleted scenes can be found on RUclips. That explains why there's still some sexyness left in the movie, and also why some of the stuff seems to not make so much sense - any time they have to edit for a softer rating, context gets lost and the whole thing makes less sense.
1. fred is an idiot 2. daphne is always caught 3. fred and daphne always seem to go together 4. velma is the brainzzz 5. scooby and shaggy screw up every single plan. but in that screwup, the miracle of miracles that miracle max couldnt do, they manage to catch the villain. 6. the villain is always one of the first 3 people you meet.
cmdraftbrn The crazy part is that Fred wasn't an idiot on the original show. He was the leader jock but was never stupid. You are right that he did always go with Daphne. There is a great joke on one of the later shows that have them mix up the teams. When Fred and Shaggy are alone they have nothing to talk about.
One thing I always hated about all the live action movies and some of the remakes of the series were how moody and dysfunctional they made the gang. In the original show they were the perfect team. In this, you wonder why they even became friends in the first place.
I agree, but they made the conflict relatively quick and painless. It didn’t last the whole movie and magically get fixed in the end because of the power of “love” or whatever. I think the minor speed bump in the gangs friendship just proved how perfect they were for each other.
It's incredible how time changes things. As a kid, I was transfixed on the fart jokes and scary monsters. Watching this now, I'm transfixed on the surprising amount of cleavage.
MrJohnnyJohnster omg same when I was a kid I constantly replayed that scene where Shaggy farted inside that knight suit. I admit that still made me crack up to this day.
That's how I felt about the original Spiderman with Toby McGuire, when I saw it in theaters it was all "whoa web shooting goodness!", watched it the other day and I had to A-B Replay that five seconds of MJ looking up in the rain.
They do handle real supernatural cases! Or are we forgetting about probably one of the best movies ever made....Scooby Doo on Zombie Island. I rest my case.
I always felt those movies killed the original idea of the show. There was no show like it promoting that people be skeptic of the paranormal and con artists.
Rafael Neumann Zombie Island and Witch’s Ghost are fantastic though and helped revive Scooby. Them dealing with actual supernatural stuff was great, the problem was the rest of the movies took it to far
Oh, he directed the Avengers movies and Black Panther? Most MCU movies stink, Guardians of the Galaxy 1 and 2 sucked fat cocks, which says a lot about the people that like those dumpster fires. The best part of Infinity War was when they died, Rocket is fine, so it's ok that he lived.
Smokey McJoint Also you're wrong on the directors for black panther and Avengers, Ryan Coogler directed black panther and Joss Whedon Directed Avengers 1and 2 AND The Russo brothers directed Infinity War, so know your shit.
How about during the opening scene, when Velma gets hit with the water hose, gets her leg caught in the chain, and falls about 30 feet, and doesn't completely break her leg?
I know that Daphne is supposed to be “The Hot One”, but Velma is *so clearly hotter* than daphne. Let’s be realistic here. Glasses rarely make someone that attractive less attractive. Plus, she’s also the smartest one of the group. What else does daphne have to offer?
I mean Daphne is a lock picker which is pretty cool ig, she always some how falls on a secret lever and finds something cool, and she carried Scooby snacks.. So I mean she must be somewhat helpful if they gave her, her own era of just scooby, shaggy, and Daphne--
While I appreciate what you’re trying to do on Velma’s behalf, I think it’s entirely possible to lift Velma up without tearing Daphne down. A concept that can be transferred over to real-life scenarios.
One thing I did notice is the Scooby Doo series explains the criminals actions away in a semi realistic manner but the movies usually have actual supernatural elements to them. This would follow that pattern.
It would be a great thing to see the Scooby Dooby Doo gang be in R rated movie.. Shaggy love shagging Velma in her asshole and smoke the dooby weef. Fred will gangster and asshole who fuck shit with the sexy bitch daphne make a blue film
If it had been an R-rated version with a photorealistic great dane, it might be dark and trippy with an uncanny valley vibe. Special effects of the day would probably have struggled to pull it off though. Take the munchies joke one step further: what if Scooby only spoke to Shaggy and everyone else saw him as just an ordinary dog?
In my opinion this is one of the funniest films ever made , because I watched at age 7 . I'm never re-watching it again and that is how it shall remain :)
If your power is infinite it doesn't have a limit Before you say it doesn't make sense that 1% is less powerful than Shaggy's over 9000% power, it makes sense because Shaggy can control infinite power by using 1% of his power to make controlling infinite power make sense. :O
3:30 In my 7th grade health class this year I learned that Mary Jane is another phrase that really just means means marijuana. Before 7th grade health class I didn't get this joke.

The old time scooby-doo show and movies were SOOOO much better. But to each their own right?
I'm pretty sure this movie is supposed to be bad and cringy though, like I kinda feel like that was the point lmao. Or maybe I'm just biased cuz this was my favourite film as a kid.
Fair 'nuff. Dictionary.com's definition of pan is "to photograph or televise while rotating a camera on its vertical or horizontal axis in order to keep a moving person or object in view", but basically *every* other resource disagrees about the "vertical or" part.
I used to always wonder why velmas shirt suddenly got more revealing, and how her bob turned into a longer more of a parted eboy cut, I just blamed it on reshoots but I guess it was actually to show velmas transition from soul back into her body
glory bee Yeahhhh... you got me. Had to do it. I loved this movie, but looking back now... I regret some things. This is really cringey now that I understand more of what’s going on.

Some of the less-kid-friendly deleted scenes can be found on RUclips. That explains why there's still some sexyness left in the movie, and also why some of the stuff seems to not make so much sense - any time they have to edit for a softer rating, context gets lost and the whole thing makes less sense.
who's here after realizing the full power of shaggy?
He is beyond space and time.
*WHISTLE CONCERT*
_Nobody, because no one can survive 1% of his power._
@@5nesta matt
Yeah I’m here to view him through the lens of a nonbeliever
Whats the deal with shaggy jokes, like for real ?
That moment you relise this film was originally rated R for some reason
The original cut had a lot of drug and sexual themes so yah
Maybe when Fred said “ I could look at myself naked”
StrawBerryMilk yah obviously
@@strawberrymilk4562 duh9
@@strawberrymilk4562 he was starring at his tits also
1. fred is an idiot
2. daphne is always caught
3. fred and daphne always seem to go together
4. velma is the brainzzz
5. scooby and shaggy screw up every single plan. but in that screwup, the miracle of miracles that miracle max couldnt do, they manage to catch the villain.
6. the villain is always one of the first 3 people you meet.
cmdraftbrn kids don’t think about it that much so it’s easy to just keep doing what they do
Actually I think Fred and Daphne didn't have a romantic relationship until this movie
Yeah, once I saw an interview with the creator of the show, and he said Daphne would never go out with Fred, he is not her type of guy.
cmdraftbrn
The crazy part is that Fred wasn't an idiot on the original show. He was the leader jock but was never stupid. You are right that he did always go with Daphne. There is a great joke on one of the later shows that have them mix up the teams. When Fred and Shaggy are alone they have nothing to talk about.
damn it shaggy i told you, use 0.1288237% power to be serious
Are you ever going to do Final Destination? it's like the most sinnable series of films ever
zbity kieliszek That movie was fucked up
@@Stevelso It's kind of awesome how the deaths resemble Rube Goldberg machines in their complexity.
One thing I always hated about all the live action movies and some of the remakes of the series were how moody and dysfunctional they made the gang. In the original show they were the perfect team. In this, you wonder why they even became friends in the first place.
IM Squiddly I think it's because the cartoons are made for kids, while the movies target audience is pre-teens and teenagers.
I agree, but they made the conflict relatively quick and painless. It didn’t last the whole movie and magically get fixed in the end because of the power of “love” or whatever. I think the minor speed bump in the gangs friendship just proved how perfect they were for each other.
Scrappy doo is not the most annoying character of the movie...
He's the most annoying character of all animation
Minions though.......
@@Insanityltself sorry you can't change my mind
Ronaldo from Steven Universe might be as equally annoying as Scrappy Doo
Um, there is a person called Jerry Smith from Rick And Morty...
@@WitherLord888 oh...ok scrappy may be the 2nd
It's incredible how time changes things. As a kid, I was transfixed on the fart jokes and scary monsters. Watching this now, I'm transfixed on the surprising amount of cleavage.
MrJohnnyJohnster omg same when I was a kid I constantly replayed that scene where Shaggy farted inside that knight suit. I admit that still made me crack up to this day.
As a kid, I focused on both
That's how I felt about the original Spiderman with Toby McGuire, when I saw it in theaters it was all "whoa web shooting goodness!", watched it the other day and I had to A-B Replay that five seconds of MJ looking up in the rain.
To think the director of Guardians of the Galaxy wrote this movie
Considering this is 2018, in the time it took you to post this comment you could of easily looked it up
Drake Smith I did look it up. Months ago in fact. I said “to think” not “I think”.
Wait what.....I did not even know lol
Comedy sure has evolve
MegaSoulHero
It fits they both suck
This movie was my childhood!!!
Just an innocent Pomegranate same I loved it when growing up
Same but second one was better
As a kid, I imagined the monster under my bed as the monsters in this movie lol
Me to until I grew up and realized how awful it is
Y'all had crap childhoods. I'm sorry.
Dude, they walked to their own cars. THEY'RE RIGHT THERE.
and here's me thinking only Freddie could drive
They have cars?
You forgot the part when shaggy achieved ultra instinct
lol what part is that
I thought it was in the other movie
NOW IM AS STRONG AS A BAAARGE that was in the cartoon. This version of him possess 1% of his original power

you're gonna do everything wrong with scooby doo 2 too right?? you GOTTA do scooby doo 2
Brenna Bevins - I GOTTA bust that ass up. Fine af.
Scooby Doo 2 would be sweet. I remember watching the live action movies ALOT when I was a kid.
Also, Winston, keep it in your pants you fucking creep.
In a year later probably because isn't that how this RUclips channel works? Do the first movie one year, then do the sequel/ 2nd movie a year later?🤔
Winston Cornelius Xavier So inappropriate and perverted.
Hahaha I apologize
Omg do scooby doo 2. Monsters inc.
Gatling Hawk I agree please do the second one Cinemasins!!!!
Monsters _Unleashed._
There is a second one?
thats not what my channel is forXD
Gatling Hawk he already did Monsters, Inc. A long time ago.
"Daphne The Vampire Slayer"
I find it hilarious that Buffy's gang name is the Scoobies and Sarah is IN a Scooby Doo movie
They do handle real supernatural cases! Or are we forgetting about probably one of the best movies ever made....Scooby Doo on Zombie Island. I rest my case.
Megan Emery yeah, every movie has real stuff happen
I always felt those movies killed the original idea of the show.
There was no show like it promoting that people be skeptic of the paranormal and con artists.
Megan Emery That was one of my fav scooby doo movies as a kid in fact probably my most favorite
Or the witch's curse
Rafael Neumann Zombie Island and Witch’s Ghost are fantastic though and helped revive Scooby. Them dealing with actual supernatural stuff was great, the problem was the rest of the movies took it to far
Lay off my movie. It is and always will be my childhood
Little did Warner Brothers knew that James Gunn would direct one of the most successful franchises in the MCU. Who knew?
Oh, he directed the Avengers movies and Black Panther? Most MCU movies stink, Guardians of the Galaxy 1 and 2 sucked fat cocks, which says a lot about the people that like those dumpster fires. The best part of Infinity War was when they died, Rocket is fine, so it's ok that he lived.
Oooh look how edgy these guys are for hating on something immensely popular. You can tell their unique and totally not like everyone else.
Mr.Fancy Sir we have a dc fanboy here
Smokey McJoint Oh look another person who hates what other people like and has a problem with them liking it.
Smokey McJoint Also you're wrong on the directors for black panther and Avengers, Ryan Coogler directed black panther and Joss Whedon Directed Avengers 1and 2 AND The Russo brothers directed Infinity War, so know your shit.
I've seen this movie countless times and never noticed El Doucherino's heart tattoo until CinemaSins pointed it out.
Nothing is wrong with this movie, you better delete the video before Shaggy deletes us all using only 3.82% of his power
Yeetus That Fetus he doesn’t need to use that much power to delete us
Kill me oh fuck, we’re done for
You can like, totally buy me off wit a Scooby Snack man.
If you get me like a tour, I will stop Thanos faster then you can say "Zoinks!"
Shaggy Rogers thank you for being merciful my lord
HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA KIOKEN TIMES TEN
That bowl of souls wasn’t CGI. Shaggy actually took out peoples souls. No one knew if or when they’d return to their bodies.
Yeah, he’d do it at random and refused to stop, so they had to work it into the movie
Sam Lund tragic really
Many more innocent people lost their lives in this way
How about during the opening scene, when Velma gets hit with the water hose, gets her leg caught in the chain, and falls about 30 feet, and doesn't completely break her leg?
I know that Daphne is supposed to be “The Hot One”, but Velma is *so clearly hotter* than daphne. Let’s be realistic here. Glasses rarely make someone that attractive less attractive. Plus, she’s also the smartest one of the group. What else does daphne have to offer?
I 100% agree. Daphne was that basic kind of pretty
@@shamarab4632 Hey! In early 00's Hollywood that meant "goddess of beauty"
Lost goat __666 It was just those three in 13 ghosts, the other two don’t count
Do *Mean Girls*
You can't sin a movie with no sins
But every movie has sins
Skylightt CinemaSins' tagline LITERALLY says: "No Movie Is Without Sin" so they can pull it off. 😂😂😂
This is by far my FAVORITE stupid childhood movie. I had a blast with this video😂😂😂
One thing I did notice is the Scooby Doo series explains the criminals actions away in a semi realistic manner but the movies usually have actual supernatural elements to them. This would follow that pattern.
like scooby doo and the cyber menace.
That wasn't really supernatural it was more super advance technology designed by college students and inside the game are all just ai programs.
I was thinking more about the one with witches, the one with vampires, and the one with werecats and zombies.
Aaron That one with the witches was good. The three gothic ladies, singing the song, and what have you.
yah i used to have the monster school one, where shaggy has a red shirt, on VHS.
This movie was originally rated R confirmed by James Gunn
I wonder why ( ͡ ͡° ͜ ʖ ͡ ͡°)
It would be a great thing to see the Scooby Dooby Doo gang be in R rated movie.. Shaggy love shagging Velma in her asshole and smoke the dooby weef.
Fred will gangster and asshole who fuck shit with the sexy bitch daphne make a blue film
Lol
If it had been an R-rated version with a photorealistic great dane, it might be dark and trippy with an uncanny valley vibe. Special effects of the day would probably have struggled to pull it off though.
Take the munchies joke one step further: what if Scooby only spoke to Shaggy and everyone else saw him as just an ordinary dog?
• 69 years ago what's up with you and ass fucking?
8:59 The "Shining School" tho , It was awesome ! XD

Shawn McMillan a bad adaptation of your childhood
oh come on it's not that BAD I'd seen much Cartoon movie adaptions
Shawn McMillan my childhood hurts
Shawn I swear im seeing u eveywhere on RUclips 😂😂
In my opinion this is one of the funniest films ever made , because I watched at age 7 .
I'm never re-watching it again and that is how it shall remain :)
I hate these “percentage of Shaggy’s power” memes.
Percentage implies his power has a limit.
Percent of his power comprehensible by the average human being. (Excluding Michael Stevens).
This is a genuinely good joke
His power doesn't stop at 100% tho
@@panlis6243 damn, you beat me to it
If your power is infinite it doesn't have a limit
Before you say it doesn't make sense that 1% is less powerful than Shaggy's over 9000% power, it makes sense because Shaggy can control infinite power by using 1% of his power to make controlling infinite power make sense. :O
3:30 In my 7th grade health class this year I learned that Mary Jane is another phrase that really just means means marijuana. Before 7th grade health class I didn't get this joke.
Best part of this movie is the actor portraying Shaggy
Nicolas Matteo Yeah Matthew Millard did a great Shaggy.
He's still doing shaggy to this day at least in the Lego games for Scooby Doo he's shaggy
He's voicing shaggy now too, since the original voice died
cmon ur from an different age where shaggy is an normal person hes actually a god
Like, Zoinks. How come Shaggy is allowed to be sinned?
Jeff Merkin because he was only at 0.00001% power
*Like ZONKS*
He was only at his 1% of his power. *That’s why.*
Mathew Lillard kills it in every movie I've seen him in, 100% committed. He is Shaggy.
9:04 When the video jumps to Sugar Ray singing, I think there was a missed opportunity to just sin with no explanation and move on to Fred lmfao.
This was a Great video and all but I'm sorry...HOW DID THE BURP/FART CONTEST ONLY GET 1 SIN?!?!
Right? Maybe at least one accounting for every emission let out? And even then, multiply those by ten. :S
Well technically they got six because of the extra five added the beginning
Sonicstriforce it’s honestly pretty funny if I’m being honest😂
I dont care what you say, I've seen this and scooby doo 2 multiple times and never get old of it
Cartoon YF you said it
(Read this till the end and dont get butthurt) Yes they are pretty good but if you consider it from an old time scooby-doo fan perspective (as well from a satorical one such as Cinemasins) it wasnt as gpod as you say. The old time scooby-doo show and movies were SOOOO much better. But to each their own right?
The dog they hired to play Scooby just wasn't believable.
he really phoned it in
How does a dog with the shape, size and most of all, mannerism of Scooby even believable in real life?
Here in early 2019 during rise of shaggy memes?
I really don't understand it...
I'm pretty sure this movie is supposed to be bad and cringy though, like I kinda feel like that was the point lmao. Or maybe I'm just biased cuz this was my favourite film as a kid.
Still is
Theo Glenister
Same
Its a kid movie he giving it sins over things that are expected of it like the cat getting attacked on the plane
Ugh, right in muh childhood. I remember bringing this movie to class in kindergarten ;-;
I don’t remember it, I was a teenager and probably high watching this show.
I Am The Master Baiter i used to watch this movie literally everyday when i was five lol
...you remember kindergarten? I'm getting old.
I love this movie and the shameless cash grab sequels.
I owned it and think I still somewhere own it on VHS. No matter how bad this movie is, I could still watch it and re-watch it for hours.
Is it bad that I still die laughing at the “Are you challenging me?” scene as a “mature” 24-year-old adult?
Anyone else notice that the screenplay and story for Scooby Doo was written by James Gunn (Director of Guardians of the Galaxy).
Gregory Gannon That's probably what made it better than The Smurfs (2011) despite both movies being directed by Raja Gosnell.
Dude, he directed and wrote the ending of Movie 43. Are you really surprised?
I noticed it. I was in shock cuz gotg was my favorite film before black panther
I looked into it and this movie was what actually launched his career lmfao
I Sin you Cinemasins!!! At 3:38 that is a tilt, not a pan!
RebelsMusicGroup a tilt and pan?
WMICx nope. There was a fade transition from the plane to the water as the camera TILTED up to the island.
Fair 'nuff. Dictionary.com's definition of pan is "to photograph or televise while rotating a camera on its vertical or horizontal axis in order to keep a moving person or object in view", but basically *every* other resource disagrees about the "vertical or" part.
I sinned them a couple years ago for that one! Good catch
PixelRelatedismyname Went to film school haha
Please, there’s nothing wrong with this movie. It’s a cinematic masterpiece
CrucialSword yes
I agree, it's a good type of cringe
CrucialSword Just because you like it doesn’t mean there’s nothing objectively wrong with it.
Erin Miller I was joking, do you not understand sarcasm?
CrucialSword I love the movie too 😜 I just also enjoy listening to CinemaSins' random jokes/critiques.
I used to always wonder why velmas shirt suddenly got more revealing, and how her bob turned into a longer more of a parted eboy cut, I just blamed it on reshoots but I guess it was actually to show velmas transition from soul back into her body
My reaction to the thumbnail: Zoinks!
JEEPERS!
Jenkies...

glory bee Yeahhhh... you got me. Had to do it. I loved this movie, but looking back now... I regret some things. This is really cringey now that I understand more of what’s going on.
They couldn’t have picked a better Shaggy! He looks exactly like him.
If EVERY actor in the gang looked and sounded as much like their cartoon counterpart as Matthew Lilliard, this would have been a good movie.
Steve Kaczynski he did a really good job in that role.
Stephen Skinner Fred was the only disappointment tbh
Not counting CGI Abomination Scooby?
he became a vessel cuz lord shaggus has to give 12.292827% power to matthew
There’s nothing wrong
Ok
There is though
uhhh how about the fact that this movie looks like a skit some college kid spen $5000 on
