How to FIX HYPER FLASH Turn Signals and Dash Errors after LED Conversion - Nissan 300ZX

  • In this video I address issues I had after changing my tail lights on my 300zx. My new lights used LED bulbs. My turn signals were "hyper flashing" because the car thought my bulbs were burnt out and I was also getting a light on my dash each time I hit the brakes.

    08:26 I think this is the least intrusive way of splicing into the factory harness, i understand u dont like the bulky heatsink but as you grow and mod your car you will eventually have to modify the wiring and this is the best way to do it I think.

    Those load resisters are designed to transfer heat to metal, you can get thermal paste and mount it to a metal surface. Or get a load resister rated for more power off Digikey

    I prefer the hyper flash. I left it alone on my car. I think it's more obvious when using your turn signals, instead of the regular slow lazy blinking.

      I know what you mean, some people like it. Drives me crazy along with any other lights on the dash that usually aren’t supposed to be there.

    Hey man. Video helped. I’m curious if you ever fix your brake light issue? I upgraded my lights to Jspec ones. I put the old bulbs but everytime I press the brake the light comes up. I’m curious if you were able to fix it and what did you do? I asked in a lot of forums and most are having the same issue no resolution.

      When you install JSpec lights but keep old bulbs you won’t have the light on the dash when your lights are on at night. But the light on the dash will still come on when you press the brake because that’s the only time your third brake light comes on (led in spoiler in my case). The “correct way” to fix that is by installing a resistor like I was doing in the video, it converts the voltage change from the LEDs so you car doesn’t think you have a blown bulb. That’s the only way to fix it correctly. You need to cut into wires and what not to install a resistor though. Which I didn’t want to do.
      I’m pulling the brake light bulb from the dash, best solution in my opinion. Yeah, I won’t know if my brake bulb ever truly goes out, but I’m not worried about it. I don’t daily my Z. Besides, I always walk around my Z before I drive it lol it’s a habit, so if I’m ever going to drive at night I’ll know I have a bulb out. This way, you can keep the bulbs that came with your JSpec tail lights as well and don’t need to use your old bulbs.
      That’s my solution for it, and I’m happy with it. It’s a pain to kind of take everything apart just to remove the bulb though, I recommend changing all your interior and cluster bulbs to LEDs (I have a video on that too and it looks amazing!) and while you’re doing that and have everything apart, pull that brake light bulb. Hang on to it if you ever want to put it back 👍

      @@FarazXAhmed thank you. I’ll probably just forget the light exist. about it. I’ve talk to many people that converted to jdm and the majority has the same issue I have with the light on the dash pressing the pedal.

    Do you daily drive your 300zx? I’m thinking of getting it but doing my due diligence with its reliability due to it being 30 years old at this point

    • @FarazXAhmed
      @FarazXAhmed  10 месяцев назад

      I don’t daily it no, it’s basically a weekend car for me. A Z with a widebody and the condition mine is in, can’t really be a daily. That being said, it is possible to daily a Z especially if it’s an NA and not TT. My car is super reliable and I trust it to get me through even road trips for hours, it already has.
      All depends on maintenance. Its 30 years old now. If’s it’s been taken care of it won’t let you down, like any other vehicle. If it’s been taken care of and you’re on top of maintenance, and don’t get too excessive with the mods, you definitely can.

    if I can suggest, you should invest in RODE wireless microphone for a better audio. Great videos every time, love the content, keep it up!

    what if the other lights on your car become faulty or blown? you wont be able to know since you removed the bulb from the cluster.

    • @FarazXAhmed
      @FarazXAhmed  11 месяцев назад +1

      Yeah unfortunately that’s something you have to give up with this.
      It’s not a big deal for me at all really. I would just do a “light check” once or twice a year to make sure no bulbs need replacing. I would definitely rather do that, compared to cutting into a lot of wiring.

      Unfortunately there is really no way around it with a twinz front bumper (need aftermarket lights which are LED) and Jspec taillights. I don’t want my signals hyper flashing or an annoying light everytime I press the brake. I would have preferred OEM lights/bulbs as well but the tail lights were a must for me. Best thing anyone can do to clean up the rear end of a Z while keeping the tail lights OEM Nissan.
      Pulling 1 bulb out of the dash and changing the blinker relay is a very minor thing for me and well worth it. I can put the bulb back whenever I want and change the relay in just a minute. All wiring remains untouched! Only thing I regret is not pulling the bulb out when I had my cluster apart a few months ago 🤪😅

      @@FarazXAhmed Thanks for the reply. I get it. That's why I said "It may work for him.....to have LEDs.... There is no doubt the leds look good. If I was more proficient in electrical work I likely wouldn't be as adverse to it. You did show others a work-around along with the downside of it and that is commendable. I look forward to the next vid.👍
