Honestly if they were to make more cinematic Hannah Barbera films I absolutely would love to see a Wacky Racers in the style of the Speed racer movie , anyone else thinks that a cool idea ?
I remember always trying to watch the Speed Racer movie on dvd, emphasis on tried, i started to feel sick every single time, i could never finish it, that movie is headache inducing, I don't even remember if it was good, it probably was who knows.
@@marvelousball Not good, but it is quite an amazing film. Ironically, but not quite. It's cheesy but freakin' epic. I dunno' I'm conflicted on that film... but I love it with all my heart in a non ironic way, and yet I mostly enjoy it because I think it's funny.

I personally love the Speed Racer movie. It's definitely corny but it respects it's original source material very well and I love the action scenes even though the physics involved might be a little bit broken to anyone who cares about that. It also came with one of the most underrated racing/movie tie in game ever with a soundtrack that goes hard af.

TBH im pretty sure this movie was aimed at kids, but i doubt any kid would recognize any star besides zac Efron in this movie. It would have been waaaaaay better if they aimed this at an older audience who grew up w/ HB so that they could introduce the HB cimenatic universe to there kids.
The two live action scooby doo movies are the most early 2000s things ever created and are amazing.

I recently learned that James Gunn was the writer for those movies and I feel like that explains a lot about why I like 'em.
Eaxl Sugar Ray is in the first one, Seth Green is in the second one, and scooby plays on a Sliver Gameboy Advance SP in the post credit scene of the second one so I’d say so

I did find Dick Dastardly's new design a bit strange, not bad strange, I quite liked it. But I guess they finally go fed up with people comparing him to Waluigi. :D Would have liked his "catch the pigeon" sidekicks to make a cameo if this is a shared universe.
Also, with all the voice actors being switched around, Frank Welker was ironically the most jarring as he had serious "old man" voice now, especially in the up scenes. Almost as bad as Sean Connery's lines in the From Russia with Love PS2 game.

I have no idea, it sounds a little dramatic for such a goofy franchise. "Like zoinks, Scoob, the souls of the damned are calling to me from the stygian abyss! Like gulp man, my mind is being filled with the atrocities and sins of mankind!" Still, not nearly as awkward as that one comic series that turned Scooby-Doo into a super serious, gritty, ultra-violent Walking Dead-esq series.
Scooby Doo have been far darker than that in the past. Watch Zombie Island or Mystery Incorporated.

When I saw the Blue Falcon in the movie poster I thought they were going to fuck up the Blue Falcon universe/lore. But then again, you can do whatever you want with Scooby Doo universe at this point and the only thing this means is that the universes are coming together slowly.
The Blue Falcon being in this movie had me thinking about something, It would be funny if they made a Space Ghost or Birdman movie ignoring the parody cartoons on Adult Swim

Dude... Frank Welker is THE voice of Fred, always has been. The claim that the real cast doesn't have the "star power" to promote the film feels.. super weak to me.
I mean.. was there anyone at all that was actually excited about this new cast? Pretty much everyone's reaction was like "Oh, ok... I guess." I just feel having the other voice actors would've given the movie just a bit more support from fans.
Agreed. Especially considering Mathew Lillard was a relatively big star in the 90's, on the same level as Freddie Prince Jr and Michelle Gellar. Which was why he was cast as Shaggy in the live-action movie in the early 00's. He might not do much live-action work these days, but the man was in Scream and She's All That. He's got mainstream credibility.
Look at SpongeBob the movie, my little pony movie or teen titans go movie. They didn't replace the cast. And the big celebrities they got for those movies voiced orignal characters that were introduced in the movie. So I understand the Scooby-Doo voice actors being upset.
@Mr. Brodie Grey DeLisle has been Daphane's voice since the early 2000s. So I understand her being very hurt by that. She's been doing it for almost 20 years.

And that's not the issue, it's with the people who choose to cast these people. I think for fans of this franchise the old cast was fine and probably better (depends since I know Scooby's cast changes sometimes), but it wasn't the fans that choose that and it was chosen because of the "star power" of these celebrities. I'm only familiar with the original cartoon and Will Forte does not sound good as Shaggy.

I will say, watching reruns of "The New Scooby Doo Movies" in the late 90s helped me connect with my parents later on bc I knew who celebrities from their childhood were like Sandy Duncan, Mama Cass, The Harlem Globetrotters, etc.

What makes zero sense to me is that they got Frank Welker back to be Scooby, the character he'd been sharing with Scott Innes until the last few years...but not Fred, the character he's been voicing since the original 60s show even in most parody appearances?

I love Scooby-Doo. It just pains me to see that this movie was such a mess. When Scooby gets it right, it gets it right. I love a lot of the early 2010s movies and am excited to jump into Mystery Incorporated. Even the first two live-action movies are a lot of fun, and I was hoping this would be a strong return for Scoob on the big screen. Ah well...

This movie is another example of trying to do the MCU thing too early. Yes you want to establish a franchise for money but everything has to fit in properly. Wasted potential for sure.

You know how the Sonic movie had everyone excited for the next film after we all saw the after credits scene? I also think if the other members of the gang are just kinda there in this then they should of been teased to appear in the second film instead. Since so much of this movie seems to be focused on Shaggy and Scoob. Then in the future they could focus more on the other characters and also incorporate more nods to other works by Hanna Barbera. I had no idea this was the start of a universe full of these classic cartoon characters. If it really is then i could see the gang being the ones to mesh everything together.

you know they actually did the whole "ghost are actually real" in one 90? 80? movie, but it was actually fun, and the series with that magician was also about real spirits, and it was fun, i feel like the decline is because they didnt cared in the 2010's, with adventure time and all the other series, they didnt had a piece of mind for scooby.
The movie was in development hell for a while, Dax Shepard was involved as a writer/co-Director until he left (or got fired) and the film originally had one writer Edge of Seventeen Director Kelly Fermon Craig

I’m truly excited to see the movie! My mom and I used to watch Wacky Races and Dexter’s Laboratory when we had Boomerang on cable... I’ll be sure to watch it with her! I’m thankful we live together with the family so we can all enjoy this, it looks wonderful!

Frank Welker *is* one of the original voice actors. He's been playing Fred since 1969!
Making a cinematic universe like this is folly. They should have just made a good Scooby Doo movie first to gauge interest and then played around with the idea in a sequel. By good Scooby Doo movie I mean: interesting mystery plot that lets the characters all have moments that show off their strengths as characters and fun interactions with each other that makes us want to see more of them together. That doesn't mean all 5 need to be quippy, in fact each person should interact with each other differently, but overall WB just has to sell us on the chemistry. Then go ahead and run it into the ground in a sequel if you please, but one good movie is not impossible.

They switched the personalities of Blue Falcon and Dynomutt.
To be fair, the guy in this movie is Blue Falcon, Jr., which may be why Dynomutt isn't so goofy anymore.
@@SirBlackReeds But that doesn't explain why Dynomutt is different though. Dynomutt is a robot dog, so him randomly having a different personality doesn't make sense. Also I feel like Dynomutt and Blue Falcon Jr. would have worked better if Blue Falcon Jr. had to learn what it's like having a goofy dog as a partner from Shaggy.
SCOOB should have been a standard Scooby Doo movie, then end with Blue Falcon teaser to jump start a cinematic Hannah Barbara universe.
The movie was actually really good Imo. I liked how Dasterdly is pretty sympathetic at the end too
They have the guy who's voiced Fred since the beginning of the franchise in this movie, and they replace him with the kid from High School Musical and The Lorax
He's done a lot more than that: Baywatch, Neighbors, Me and Orson Welles, Parkland, The Disaster Artist, Dirty Grandpa, Robot Chicken, Firefly, CSI: Miami, and he was Ted Bundy. Hell, that might actually be a casting gag there since Venture Bros. had a Ted Bundy-parody of Fred.

weirdly he got replaced in this movie by Will Forte. neither Mathew or the Daphne va were contacted that they be replaced for this production.
its weird they replaced Mathew Lillard , a shaggy va since 2010 and was actually cast as live action shaggy. if either sounded off to you, now you know why
