Thanks! Yea something happened to the original title when it was launched. It wasn't attracting people, so I changed the title and that broke the search result links. This video literally does not show up in any search results, it's a real shame. We're hoping that our next one, which will be out next year, will have better luck and we'll get more traction. It does have 7.6k views on our other channel Tye's trains.
This is a pinnacle of short story documentaries. Such a wide scope involved and hats off to all of them that make everything work as it did long before all of us. Camera, editing and narration off the charts.
@@PeterConnell90 Thanks so much. Lots of hard work and patience, did lead to a nice product. Our 2nd film is complete as well, just waiting for final VO. We have 5 more in various states of pre production, production and post production. All shot on 16mm. So stick around, lots more coming in the next year or so.
Thank you for your film❤. A few days ago, I also used film to shoot the last steam railway in northwest China. This is the last steam railway for industrial transportation. It will completely end the use of steam locomotives in a few months.
Thank you for your film. I love it very much! It demonstrates all the importance of shooting on film. One could say it is just another RUclips video, which it on one hand is, but at the same time it provides unrivaled otherness and noticeable artistic distinction. It´s is on cinema level. The motion of its subjects and the playfulness of color you provide to the viewer is unusual and most eye pleasing. Needless to say all your artistic approach makes your film rare and leads its audience point their full attention to it, which is also rare today. Thank you and I wish you luck with your next projects.
Wonderful DSNGR cinematic gem Tyler... Having worked some 40 years in HOLLYWOOD, and having personally known so many iconic cinematographers like Phil Lathrop, Conrad Hall, Russell Metty etc., I can honestly say they too would congratulate you on a fine mini-documentary. DSNGR owner Al Harper I also know well, having produced a 2hr. salute edited from scores of RUclipsr videos, and all set to the music of HOLLYWOOD's greatest music composers. Indeed, the survival of the most scenic, most photographed railroad in the world owes everything to HOLLYWOOD for its survival. So many western movies like BUTCH CASSIDY & THE SUNDANCE KID, DENVER & RIO GRANDE, NIGHT PASSAGE and AROUND THE WORLD IN 80 DAYS, showcased the railroad to the world, resulting in a tourist boom that keeps on giving. I was fortunate to have worked in the fading years of the studio system both in England where I started out as a clapper boy, to moving to HOLLYWOOD as a writer and studio historian, first for Universal City Studios and later 25 years at 20th Century-Fox. From the days of shooting 16mm for exterior scenes and video for studio interiors on British TV, to the 35mm Universal TV assembly-line of the 1970s and 80s, to the digital age where DP's are at the mercy of a colorist with a mouse. Being third generation movie industry, I only just discovered your fascinating channel and its devotion to the medium we all love. Speaking of which I'd love to send you my DVD salute if you're interested... grahamhill007@sbcglobal.net It was a sincere pleasure viewing this railroad homage!
Hi Tyler, beautiful film that truly evokes the old west! I love it! Can I ask, what is the music at 7:20, it sounds like John Williams from ET, it's beautiful.
Hey! Thanks so much. The music credits are in the credits at the end. I sadly don’t remember which one is which. But youtube I believe does list them in order in the music section. Let me take a look and see.
What an achievement. Excellent job. I have been getting back in to shooting motion picture, and this is the kind of stuff I really admire. Hey, may I ask how the credit "cleanup" is defined? What roles are handled during "cleanup?"
Well, kodak released a batch of bad 7203 50D stock. We had 9 400ft rolls of it, which made the majority of this film. I was livid getting the film home and seeing it full of micro scratches. I talked to my reps who confirmed it was a problem. They graciously gave me new stock but it didn’t solve my problem. So we used Phoenix restoration software to do an automated cleanup pass. If ya look carefully at the pro res 4k 12 bit 444 file on a grading monitor, you can still see the issues. However, it’s way better than it was. All the dark areas were horrible prior to cleanup. Luckily, we haven’t had a lick of issues since. We have 5 more of these films in various forms of production and post to be released in the next two years. So stick around!
This is so beautifully shot edited and narrated, congratulations Tyler! It's criminal that it doesn't have more views.

It's very interesting to see people taking selfies on celluloid lol
