I quit using header gaskets back in the eighties. Make sure the flanges are flat and bolt them to the heads. I put a lot of miles on them as a daily driver, never had a problem after that. Did the same on the collector.

When I used to build small block V8s, if the headers loosened up, that proved that I built the motor. To this day I have NEVER had headers seal forever on a Chevy V8.

The snap on guy caught you real good didn’t he!
Also the rope into that hook looks like it’s destined to fail, it such a tight radius around that pin!
It would be a thousand times better with a nice thimble on it and re-spliced properly.

  • @jasonmartin8769

Hey on those headers leaking from the heads I've solved this problem myself now over 30 years ago because of what my dad had told me put you a nice little RTV beat a cellicone around each exhaust port then put the header up in the place you tighten the header balls one time and they never come loose and they never leak and I've never had a headlight problem it's a headerly problem on multiple cars I've built Again RTV red silicone or black a little beat around each exhaust port put the headers on without smearing it you'll never have exhausted again

    Looove Rhodes Lifters.
In the world according to me, the lifters are really noisy, when the engine is running it sounds like a well machined engine that has the same little sound at each cylinder (valve).
    Rhodes is my favored lifter.

i remember them lifters i hated them lifters. i dont mean to sound like a smart ass to you when you do that kind of work. but with headers i used Mr gasket metal header gasket. and the way i have always tightened my headers and i know you going to say wont work. but try it. change the gaskets tighten them i mean go over them a couple times start the truck let it get to running temp shut the truck off and come back in 4 or 5 hours when its stone cold again and tighten them again. do NOT tighten them when they are hot. i ran mud bogs and went all year and never blow them while everyone else would change them every month or two. i used Mr gasket but i guess any metal gasket will work.

A word to the engaged--and already focused--- pull that damn Ramsey winch out and especially address driver side housing where undoubtedly you will need to put lubrication in the bushing on the end housing! Don't forget to check the 20 wt. in the spur gear housing for correct level, and the 140 wt. in the worm gear housing that it's correct too! You use that son-of-a-bitch a lot and I'm guessing it's probably low.

Need to teach that seat cover how to swing a BFH. As for the wrecker engine. You work for a bloody GM dealer. WHY is there not a Big Block Tonawanda in that bay? Cheap headers = exhaust leaks and backing off bolts. are lots of times due to no flex in the exhaust. But you know that.
Need to let the seat cover do more fun stuff too, like pulling that winch cable out. Or using the blue tip wrench on that bolt or the opening for the boom pulley.
My widow was afraid of a screwdriver when met her. Mostly because her idiot ex husband was too stupid to know how to use one right anyway so if he couldn't how could she.
She has the desire same as my wife did. So, hand her the tool and you can fix anything she breaks.

I don't know how all winches work but I do know the ones I ran that is a sheer bolt that is designed to break if you overload your winch instead of snapping your cable and it comes flying back and hitting somebody it shares that boat and on spools off the Bell and keeps from damaging your winch or snapping your cable if you put two big old load that's more than what the winch is capable of handling I've shared them many a times they're just a little aluminum bolts they're not steel Some winches actually come with an extra sheer bolt
