    Scott, is the FW279S still your go to display when shooting with the C200? Or would you recommend something else for the C200. I know there is a newer version which supports LUTs yet on the C200 going out the SDI port can’t I assign a LUT there Thanks

    • @ScottDumas
      @ScottDumas  4 года назад +1

      Hey! Lots has changed haha... actually not using the C200 anymore, now mainly shooting with the Z Cam E2-F6 and a few EOS-Rs (waiting for the R5 haha). I mostly use the Osee T7 now, which is 3000 nit, has LUTs and a much better UI that gives quick access to a lot more features, better false color etc. The G7 version has SDI as well but the T7 will save you a little money if HDMI works for you. Hard to recommend anything besides that unless you really want to save money, and in that case the new FW monitor does look quite interesting as well.

    Hi Scott just got this on your recommendation and really happy with it, as you say ideal for checking focus, rigged up in a SmallRig 2233 cage (needs a bit of jigging to fit). Running out of my C200 on SDI (just moving away from HDMI now) and doh! it took me 20 minutes to remember to switch the Feelworld to SDI!!

    • @ScottDumas
      @ScottDumas  5 лет назад +1

      Hi! Glad you're enjoying it! :) Since I realized the C200 puts out waveforms over SDI it's so hard to go back to using HDMI. Such a simple little thing (I think there are more differences too, right?) but so useful. I'll admit I had it in HDMI mode by accident a few times too and took me a minute or two to realize what was going on haha.

    • @simonwb20

      Other big plus for me with SDI is ability to add 709 LUT.

    Hi Scott
    Love your video I just subscribed and hit the bell. Tell me please.
    I like making videos but I have declining eyesight. This is why I need to get a monitor.
    I've been looking at this one quite extensively. And you're doing a great review on it. Is this 7 in horizontally ?
    I really need to get one.
    I don't think I need 2200 nits but whatever.
    But I would like HD
    1920
    Does fear world have a monitor for around $160 ? I really don't even need touch screen.
    The camera I'm using is a Sony NX5U which has peaking zebra etc etc. But what I want more than anything is the monitor to display my camera settings within the monitor.
    Will this one do that ?
    Thanks Keith

    Thanks, Scott, as usual very informative. As a fellow C200 user, I’ve been looking at this recently, too. Couple of questions, please: 1) is the dtap cable included, or extra? 2) what other assists does the C200 only put out over SDI? Focus guides?

    • @ScottDumas
      @ScottDumas  5 лет назад +1

      Hey Simon! The D-tap cable I have I got separately- they only include an HDMI here but I THINK the MA7U will have a d-tap cable included, from what I was told. It's otherwise nearly identical besides a slightly faster response time and their "master" series screen coating.
      It outputs most things over SDI as far as I can tell besides peaking and zebras- waveforms, focus guides and magnification all come through

    • @ScottDumas
      @ScottDumas  4 года назад

      I haven't actually, but I have had issues with that before powering certain things like microphones with external power while recording. Might by ground noise or something like that (I'm really not technical with these things, sorry haha) Not sure of the solution unfortunately. Never had the issue powering other monitors from external power though, only mics or recorders.

    • @ScottDumas

      I believe smallrig makes a cage that can fit... they don't have one specifically for it yet but I'm pretty sure someone said they found one that kind of fit. If you want to go that route, I'd just double check the dimensions of the monitor/cage in the specs and see what's close. There is a comment somewhere on this video about it as well so if a cage interests you maybe that will help

    • @ScottDumas

    Hello, thank you for this review !
    I’m about to buy this Feeelworld but I have one concern.
    I’m wondering if this monitor can keep up with the different codecs of the Ursa mini please?
    For example if I switch my Ursa’s codec to 4k ProRes 422 60p :
    1/ can the monitor display anything (even in 720P or 1080p)?
    2/ or will the monitor go blank (not displaying anything) ?
    Thanking you, looking forward to hearing from you.
    I really need a monitor as soon as possible.

    • @ScottDumas
      @ScottDumas  5 лет назад +1

      Hey thanks so much for watching! In my experience it depends on what your camera puts out over HDMI/SDI... like with the C200 it puts out 1080p over SDI even if the camera is recording in 4k 60fps... same with the EOS-R when recording in 4K. I'm guessing it's the same on the Ursa mini but I haven't used it myself. Hope that helps!

    Hello Scott, could you share your picture settings for this monitor.
    Also, is it possible to move where the zooming is or does always zoom in the middle?
    Thank you.

    • @ScottDumas
      @ScottDumas  5 лет назад

      Sure! :)
      My pic settings are: brightness 0, contrast 45, saturation 40, sharpness 15, color temp 9300
      It is possible to set different positions for the standard zoom function, but an easier/faster way to do that would be to use the nine grid function (which you can set to a custom function button if you want) and you can toggle between each of the 9 sections of the screen (left and right arrows) then zoom into that (up or down arrow).
      Hope that helps!

    Did you found a fitting sun shade? I also like them for screen protection during transport.

    • @ScottDumas
      @ScottDumas  5 лет назад +1

      I haven't, unfortunately... it might actually be tricky to fit one on here because it would block the buttons on the top/ports on the side, and there's no other spot for mounting one like the MA5 has sticking out around the screen. I grabbed a cheap little hard case with foam off Amazon and have been using that to transport it- takes up a little more space but can fit cables and batteries etc as well so it's useful.

    • @ScottDumas

    Desview or feelworld ultra bright which one would you recommend? I’m battling between both...

    • @ScottDumas
      @ScottDumas  4 года назад +1

      Desview feels a LITTLE more solidly built and has things like waveforms which the Feelworld does not, and that basically seals the deal for the Desview over Feelworld for me. But, if you don't need that, they're both pretty decent and similar otherwise, with more physical buttons on the Feelworld and a more touch dependent interface on the Desview.

    Ooo, now this one is very interesting! I think we need to come up with a DreamRig cage design for this buddy! Definitely can see pairing this with the Ninja V as a set, if only it had the HDMI-SDI cross convert!
    Oh by the way, it's Sean Coulton/Coulton Photography from the Facebook groups! :P

    • @ScottDumas
      @ScottDumas  5 лет назад +1

      Hey Sean! Between this and their newly announced MA7U (identical besides a screen coating, faster processor and a fuller accessory kit) a cage could be a good idea. Nice, but plastic monitors... they could definitely benefit from that.
      I think the OSEE HCM-700 I have can cross convert the signal actually, though I haven't used it to be honest. Also costs about the price of 3 or 4 of these haha
      Are you able to draw up plans for DreamRig designs?

    • @TheTechnoPilot
      @TheTechnoPilot 5 лет назад

      @@ScottDumas yeah, that's what I was thinking was that with the plastic chassis, a nice form-fit metal cage would be ideal. Especially if the MA7U has the same plastic shell design.
      Well damn though, at that price for the OSEE HCM-700 you start getting into Atomos territory and that makes it a hard sell.
      I definitely have the skills and software to, time bandwidth is a bit more limited but potentially feasable.

    Hi Scott do you have a link to accessories (appreciate you live on the other side of the world from me, but I might be able to find an international shipper). After the D-tap cable you mention - though I've got an existing (LanParte) one with a plug that looks like it'll fit.

    • @ScottDumas
      @ScottDumas  5 лет назад

      Which accessories do you mean? I actually think the D-Tap cable I'm using with this was a LanParte one... I'm pretty sure this monitor was a 2.1mm input so I just found the cheapest I could on Amazon and when it showed up I was surprised to see it was LanParte haha. If the cable you have doesn't work I can check back in my Amazon search history for that specific cable.
      Interesting to see that it fits in the SmallRig 2233 cage by the way. What exactly did you have to do to make it fit?

    • @simonwb20
      @simonwb20 5 лет назад

      Great re D-tap, I’ll have a look soon. Cage is bolted together (thankfully) so loosened all round, squeezed in the Feelworld and then tightened up all round. I like to fix accessories via nato rail and cage has one built in on bottom, easy to screw one into top.

      @ScottDumas  5 лет назад

      That's right, no waveforms/rgb parade. Most monitors at this price point won't, but there are a few popping up here and there, for not a whole lot more money. Combined with a 7 inch super bright display will start to get more expensive though, and for me, I'm happy to have those features in this monitor :)

      To be honest, I haven't noticed anything like that but I wouldn't say that means it doesn't exist... I almost feel like it might depend on the camera as well... I know one of those reviews said they tried it on 2 cameras but I wonder which ones, and if those specifically contributed to the issue.
