Cuba has been on our bucket list for a long time, and today we finally traveled to Havana from Mexico. We had a lot of questions about “how” we could travel to Cuba as Americans, so we answer some common questions in this video and share our experience getting into the country for the first time!

Originally from Nashville, Tennessee, we got married June 2013 and quickly caught the travel bug! We started “travel hacking” & finally decided we wanted to travel for one year. After 2 years of saving $ and over 2 million miles and points, we sold our cars and apartment and left home January 10, 2016. We started this RUclips channel to share our experiences with friends and family, then decided we really liked vlogging and traveling! So we extended our 1 year trip to now FOUR years :) Now we have a goal of traveling to 100 countries before 2020! We are incredibly thankful to do something we love every day. :)

As a cuban my very first tip is GET OUT OF HAVANA ASAP! The food is mediocre at best, the people are not very welcoming, and the prices are through the roof. The faster you branch out into other cities like Varadero, Pinar del Rio etc. The better the experience will be. Hope y'all enjoy it.

You are right, Varadero is beautiful even Trinidad, Havana has interesting places but if you left your route you could be even in danger, sorry but I'm cuban and I never liked Havana in general

I’m half Cuban and what’s happening right now is making me really sad
Loved Cuba when I was there. Stayed for 3 months and my host family were the best cooks. The countryside is amazing.

I am so happy you have finally made it to Cuba!!!! My dream trip is to visit Cuba with my parents so they can show me where they grew up, the shop that my moms dad owned, the beaches that my dad would go swimming in. Oh the stories I’ve heard from my parents. To one day be able to take them back with my kids as well to show them where they come from. To meet the family I’ve only seen in pictures. That is my dream trip! 🇨🇺 #cubalibre!

I was in Havana over New Years too! The atmosphere is fantastic and the culture is so unique!

Only Americans are worry about the food in a Country with 60+ Years of Embargo by the more powerful country in the world. When i go to Cuba i berely eat. I and so busy traveling through the island, dancing salsa in the beach. If you go in a limited budget to Cuba, of course you going to eat like that. There is more upscale PALADARES and the food is fantastic but you have to pay more.

Suzi Clark I’ve never tried imitation meat but it did not look good. That’s a unique experience though, to blindly eat a vegan meal lol
I saw that when they did their establishing shot but when they started saying "noodles" & "chicken" I knew they had no clue, but those mojito's looked great!

Awesome guys, super stoked to see more of Cuba. So I'm a little confused. At 3:29 in the video you seemed to say that you can't go to hotels or restaurants or take tours because that would be considered supporting the government. But later in the video you went to a restaurant. Did I misunderstand something or does it depend on the type of restaurant? Will you be making another more comprehensive video talking about the logistics of traveling in Cuba? Either way I'm sure there will be more details sprinkled throughout the upcoming videos. How long did you stay there altogether?
There is a list of specific restaurants/other government run places that we as Americans aren’t supposed to support, but there are plenty of restaurants not on that list!

Man I LOVED Havana when I went last.. almost ten years ago now! Cool to see some of the sights I saw while you were driving through! One downside is I thought the food was pretty average most places I went, but also I could just be remembering my weird restaurant food. Hope you enjoy it!
