I live a few blocks away from where this happened and know the people who were hit. The cops weren't using paintball guns, they were using regular firearms with rubber rounds. Walz's wife, living in the governor's mansion, purposefully opened her windows to let the smell from the fires burning across the river in Minneapolis come into her home. She felt it was a "touchstone" moment and wanted to remember it. His daughter was texting and Facebooking some of the rioters to advise them on where the police were so they could alter their tactics to cause more damage unchecked by the law. If you vote for Democrats this is the kind of senselessness you get!
Maybe rubber bullets too, but they showed the exploded paintballs in other longer versions

I don't think this happened because of covid, He had issued curfews, people had to be indoors by 8pm. I think that was about the time of the riots.

@alexdolly6077 There were so many" masked" rogue people running around acting crazy, We had people running around my hospital parking lot dead in the city center where I work. None were NG or officers ( state or county) they were just rouge " hoodlums ".

Many cars in the garage were damaged.
All of our resources were consumed.
We did call and have reports made and pictures to prove damage to around 90 vehicles. But didn't pull an officer away from more important and dangerous situations.
It was insane. No one is ever prepared for something like this.

There is a lot that the MSM doesn't report on in Minneapolis/St. Paul. This is one of those things we did not hear about when it happened. The Walz administration has ruined MN and it may be unfixable.

I would like to agree however, had they returned fire, they probably would have been immediately murdered by this pack of cops looking for someone to shoot; questions to be answered later. You’re right. Very poor training. I spent 36 years in law enforcement in a big city. These guys were more like ANTIFA than cops. They committed a felony assault. Paint balls do cause injuries to say nothing about the vandalism. Assault under cover of authority should be prosecuted.
@samuelsavage,I like your anwser to this .I have always thought that defunding was not a way to do anything right.There are to many good police officers to do them wrong and I understand there are some places where if you talk to the wrong people about others you could very well become their target.I have wondered why can't it be like days in the past where an officer of the law was just that and his job came from the heart.Im 73 and maybe it's because I grew up in small towns untill I was maybe 25,still even then I remember law officers who were bad were gone and the town knew about it,and knew why.I guess what I'm trying to say is get things back to where the good outweighed the bad and didn't have to worry about retaliation. Instead of all this hate and defunding which would only cause every evil in any town to come out instead start with the top and make it right,that's Gov. I stopped backing the blue a while ago. I take everything that has to do with the police on a case by case basis. Stuff like this has been happening for a very long time. I'm not ACAB by any means. We need police, but I've seen too much of this. The way I've heard police talk in private about crap they've done. Just can't do it anymore.
Couldn't agree more. Police are necessary, and in some ways underappreciated, they put their lives on the line every day....... But that doesn't mean there shouldn't be any accountability, and those who will follow any order without question SHOULD NOT be on a police force, they should actually be tested for this during training. As for "qualified immunity"....... That's a big NOPE!

I dated a girl that worked the closing shift at a cop bar and I would go in about an hour before closing then give her a ride. I got to hear late night, drunk, cops talking about their exploits and they are just criminals with a badge. One bragged about catching a teen boy and girl with beer so he told the boy to go home, put the girl in his cruiser and told her that if she didn't put out, she'd be arrested. He told that story, laughing and cheerfully talking about how he raped the girl and the other pigs were laughing and nodding along like it's SOP.
A lot of the good and decent cops have been purged out or got feed up and quit. They are being replaced by tatted up left-wing radicals and activists. There are allegations that some cities are hiring illegals for cops. Minnesota is one of the blue states that has allowed/supported Communist Chinese police stations.

The problem with legally defending yourself against officers isn't having to go to court to prove you're innocent. It's surviving custody to get to court in the first place.

I’m a generally pro cop conservative, but stuff like this is why I don’t back the blue unanimously.
Hold them all accountable. From the ones who shot, to the commanding officers, to the government allowing it.
I live less than 10 minutes from Minneapolis. MPD first tried blaming the guard for this (along with the many, many drivebys MPD did), and it kept getting repeated due to the public's naivety. A lot of veterans and services members came out against it, as we all know this isn't something soldiers do, nor would they ever be ordered to do it. MPD is legit the reason the riots went on for so long.
