"A teaching degree is to homeschooling as a culinary degree is to grandma's cooking... it just can't touch the love, care and personal standard that only she can stir in."
Amen sister! Definitely quotable. If you ever want to go LIVE in my coffee chat, I’d love to discuss this in my community. I’m a graduated homeschool mama of four, also living in Canada on a homestead we built from raw land, and now am supporting homeschool moms to shed what’s not working so they can show up authentically, confidently & purposefully. Let me know ❤🎉
When I first started homeschooling I didn't have people close to me to relate to and I got so much criticism. The only moms I could relate to were on RUclips. Thankfully now that we have moved we are in an amazing homeschool community but it's definitely hard to feel alone in your decisions and feeling doubt because of it. But I'm so grateful we stuck with it ❤
What a good encouraging movie, Gina! Just this week my why (little wiggly 5 year old) leaned back on my lap, looked at me and said, "I love our family just the way it is." He could hardly find the words for the love he was feeling. ❤
@@lifewithginab it was super sweet. And I really want to make sure I remember it!! And looking back at my comment, I am realizing it maybe didn't make sense 😅 I called my son "my why" because he was the kiddo I just couldn't imagine sending to public school and having them force him to sit still from 8 to 3. Anyways, as a family, we have really enjoyed the change!
Thanks for sharing your journey! I also was terrified to start homeschooling, not knowing there was so much joy waiting for me and my kids on the other side.
This made me feel so much! I'm so thankful i had a friend that homeschooled and was so supportive... I don't think I could have done it without her! Thanks for sharing your experience... really did touch my heart!
A few years ago I was in a hard place with homeschooling my oldest daughter. She wasn't learning. We found out late that she had dyslexia. Which is why she wasn't learning. I thought, I should put her in school. She will have better help with her dyslexia. But she didn't want school. So we got a program and tried for 2 years amd it was rough!! There were tears from both of us. But now she can read. She is reading Great now. But she is behind in some subjects. But she is learning now and we are both happy and Thankful!!!! I do still occasionally think why am I doing this, mostly becasue of math!!
I love this video so much! Your videos are so inspiring, keep em coming! Don't pay any attention to those negative nancy's 😅. I'm on my 8th year homeschooling. My oldest has pans/pandas but we didn't know what was wrong for 9 years. We finally found someone that can heal him but it's a 2-3 year process, he has so much healing to do from debilitating ocd, tics, rage, sensory processing disorder, and severe anxiety. He currently will not do any schoolwork and hasn't for almost a year. I'm having to put my trust in God that one day my son will be fully healed and will do schoolwork again. God called me to homeschool all those years ago, a complete 180 from what I had planned, and I know 100% that's what I'm supposed to be doing. I'm trying to put my focus on my 10 and 8 yo and hoping my oldest learns enough through listening to me teach them. It seems like every year is different from the last so I just try to roll with it. I'm so glad I was called for this, despite all the bumps I love it!
We pulled our daughter out in 2020, because we felt led to. I had the same process as you. Didnt have anyone close that was doing it, so got inspiration from youtube. Had unrealistic expectations 😬 so i kept tweaking things. Then i stumbled on some real honest mamas and that helped me relax. Now i pray for the Lord to lead me. Where he guides, he equips! ❤️ thank you for sharing! God Bless
Hello, Nice to meet you! Such a great testimony about Homeschooling...and oh my goodness 😍 love all the nature around you! My peace is where all the trees and mountains are ❤...My sons last year of Highechool was homeschool and I loved it! We spent .ore time together and there was a teacher that would also come help me part time and teach him some things. He is special needs and I feel we both learned together as well! ❤...New friend here from IG..😊
Yes! This video right here! 👏 You tube has been my best friend lol I’m only in my second year of homeschooling but I feel so more confident this year than last. God got me through the worrying times! I also have public school in my veins and constantly have to remind myself that homeschooling should not be normal school at home. I always enjoy your videos! You have definitely been my friend through this without knowing it or me. Lol
So many changes for your family. Ours had some huge changes this year as well. I have been homeschooling since the beginning with my oldest now we are in our 6th year homeschooling. Even the moms who have been doing this awhile need to hear this some times too. Thanks Gina.
I'm on my fourth year of homeschooling. And I needed to hear this so bad. This was the realest video that I wish all homeschooling mommas would listen too before starting. ❤❤❤
I feel the same way sorts when we started. There's a handful of families in our church that homeschool including our pastor's family. But they all have multiple kida and super busy. Plus I wasn't really close friends with them. I knew of them and they knew of me. So I had to go find my own tribe so to speak. Luckily, joined one group (its just a park play group anyone in our local homeschool fb group can join) which lead to a second play group. Still not "close" with anyone but at least my child has other friends to play with and i get to meet up with other homeschool moms regularly.
Have no fear, parents. Public school is always nearby--whether online or physically. It's not the end of the world. That being said, however, there are many support groups (including Life with Gina B) that can help. Hope they stick with homeschooling.
What a wonderful testimony! Praise the Lord, you’re encouraging and full of wisdom. I like when you said, “It’s hard but not impossible.” 🙌🏼💕Thank you so much for sharing!! Love ya sister in Christ!
Thank you for this video! Yourself and another RUclipsr are what encouraged me to homeschool! It is lonely not to know other homeschoolers but you continue to inspire and encourage me! 🎉
Gosh thankyou for being so honest and real when you shared this story. It's so real and so many of us have been there before so I know that many will be blessed by your testimony! x
Gina, you are an amazing homeschool teacher, Mom, woman! A true inspiration for homeschooling goals. Beautiful video! And the Mother of the year goes to: Gina!!! ❤ Take care.
Thank you for making this video Gina! I am on my second year homeschooling and I really appreciate your encouraging words❣ God Bless you and your family🙏🙌
loveee this! We are in our second official year with my 7 year old. I have a toddler and I’m pregnant. I’m on struggle bus but pushing through! This video is just what I needed. Thank you
You are inspiring! Mas eu entendo tb não tenho nenhuma amiga homeschooler e maioria das vezes não me entendem e acaba sendo difícil! Some lows and hights but always with God by my side ! Hope we can connect one day
Yes I can do all things through Christ who strengths me. The only person who gives me encouragement is my pastor and the moms on RUclips. When my son was in private school he could not read but when I pulled him out of school I thought him how read with no curriculum. You see those feels am going through it too but with God all things are possible. I have a new born I can say it's not easy but it is a lot harder when you gets discouragement from family and friends. Am happy homeschooling my children becus I have the chance to teach them about Christ and his love.thank you so much Gina for this video
I would've loved to be ur homeschool mom friend😊 I'm thankfully in an area where homeschool is pretty common, therefore there's co-op /groups for support. I personally don't know many of them but it gives us options.
"Ew I sound like Justin Trudeau" 🤣🤣 Also when you said hard doesn't have to mean bad it made me think of a book that just came out called "Hard is Not the Same Thing as Bad" by Abbie Halberstadt. I haven't read it yet but I love her other book so I'm sure it's great too 😊
What if you just don’t feel smart enough to teach. What if I had a learning disability myself? Not special education but couldn’t learn to easy. Not good at math and other subjects. I was in n public school and hated it. Awesome video by the way!!
I’m a homeschool mom of seven children and have been doing it for 19 years with about five years left to go. I barely graduated high school and hated the entire public school experience. I was horrible at math and school had killed any love of learning I had. Needless to say, when I pulled my eldest child from the school system, I was TERRIFIED!! I felt completely overwhelmed and inadequate but I knew without a doubt, God wanted me to do this and would help me. Long story short, I copied school at first, learned about different homeschool methods, talked to other moms, read reviews on curriculum, etc. After 19 years, I can confidently say that you will be successful if you; 1) love your children, 2) pray for help and guidance, 3) model being a good learner yourself. I still don’t think I’m a very good “teacher” BUT I have discovered that I am a great learner and I learn right along with my children. It’s so rewarding and in time you will uncover subjects you are passionate about. You can do this!! Best of luck!
I would like to know the song’s name at the end pls! Thank you for the encouragement… from a “potential homeschool mom” hopefully starting this year! 🙏

Love that .. Homeschooling is the most rewarding thing you can do.. anything rewarding takes a lot of effort:)
