“We can get too easily bogged down in the academic part of homeschooling, a relatively minor part of the whole, which is to raise competent, caring, literate, happy people.” Diane Flynn Keith

Oh my goodness, the thought "this would be easier if my kids were in school" is such a real thought no one talks about. Stay-at-home moms/ Homeschool moms really don't get that separation they need sometimes to process and deal with things going on. Thanks for always being raw and honest!

The “If the kids were in school this would be easier” I felt that. Between or move that turned hectic and my surgery, school time was rough. I used RUclips a lot for science, history, read alouds and lots of laying in bed with mommy and reading. It became a life lesson for my kids, we have to pivot sometimes. We will be doing The good and the beautiful reading program and I got a summer school type book for the kids were they work on 1 page a day.

Sounds like y'all had a great year! How exciting to be on your own land. The kids are going to learn so much from just living there.... I mean like.... There's no formal curriculum on how to build a well! Lol! So cool! Great job!

Thank you for your videos! I love that y'all built your own well! That is inspiring. I live in Louisiana. It is usually always hot. Even in the winter, it doesn't get really cold. I do year round school. The way that I do year-round school is we take weeks of a break throughout the entire year. Most of our breaks or in the late fall winter and early spring. Our Summer's here get very hot and humid so my children do not like to go out until early morning or late afternoon. So we do a lot of school during the summer but we take breaks. I actually don't do any formal curriculum during those breaks we just spend a lot of time outside going to aquariums and fun things. But of course, there's learning in all of those things

We used the Giving Thanks Unit this year from Campfire Curriculums and had so much fun! This coming year we are doing their Volcanologist Unit. My 7 year old is obsessed with volcanos so I wasn’t surprised at all when that was his pick this year. 😊

Aww, we did those gem bracelet things with our history lesson 3 years ago. It was our first year of homeschooling, so one of our first little projects ever. My 10 year old son still has his. He's sentimental like me, and it's special to him.
I'm looking for a good Bible curriculum. I'll check out the one you used.

its funny you say you don't like grade one math. I realized this year I hate how TGTB teaches second grade math. It is mostly how I was taught in school but I am dyslexic and how it is taught in TGTB didn't click for me and its really hard for me to try and teach what did not work for me. 😂😂

Does the Spelling Connections have an answer key or do I need the teachers book also? I’ve been checking it out on Christian Book but it doesn’t say in the description.

@BlessedHopeBrenda1991 hi!! Yes it has a teachers edition which would be the teachers book... I'll link it here: www.zaner-bloser.com/spelling/spelling-connections/materials.php

Yes I did see the teacher’s edition but I rather not buy it. Too expensive. I’m just wanting the students edition unless the students edition doesn’t have an answer key.
