I’m planning out my whole homeschool year. I’ve already decided on curriculum and unit study topics for next year, but now it’s time to put that all together in a way that makes sense for us.
I’ll walk you through my review process, how I decided what to study when and a little on how I’ll build out my unit studies with projects, novels and movies.

I always knew I would homeschool, but you've given me the confidence. This was our first official homeschool year and it could not have gone better (a big thanks to your planner!) Love the new citrus print 🍋 Thank you, Amanda! ☺
You got this! And the citrus is my fav!
I love your Unit Study lesson plan pages. I don't do as many unit studies, but with your lesson plan tips, I might add more!
I'm so glad! I try to add extra so there's always enough pages, even for drafts.
For kingdoms and classifications, there is a new David Attenborough series called The Green Planet. Like The Blue Panet series but newer. It is amazing!
Yes! It's on my watch list! Those documentaries are just so good!
The fantastic mr. fox is heisty… also have you thought of a series of unfortunate events? I am thinking about Canadian history as well and don’t know how to do it. Have you(or anyone else) heard of or used Headphone History? Im intrigued by that! Also, we do 15 minute piano practices and I work one on one with a sibling while they practice. It’s one of their independent tasks. We have a keyboard so they use headphones so they can be near without disrupting learning with the other kiddos.
Mr fox is heisty. We've actually read it twice! I haven't done a series of unfortunate events, but it's on my reading list for sure. I've never used headphone history. But I think I'll end up making my own unit for history (i might even make it available for others). Making the piano practise part of their daily independent learning has made a huge difference in their playing for sure, and I might have to borrow that tips about headphones at the piano.
I purchased your book along with another Canadian homeschooling mom and i have to tell you that both were a wealth of information. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with others.
I plan to follow your term planning because i have a daughter the same age as your eldest daughter and im going to be new at the homeschooling experience so i would like to follow someone who's been at it for sometime.
Heading now to purchase your planner! 😊
Wow, thank you!
I’m planning to buy her book as well 😊 do you mind telling me the other book you bought? I want to be as informed as possible
@@ravenmurray580 i would be happy to share that with you. The book is called How to HOMESCHOOL in Canada by Lisa Marie Fletcher.
She also has a RUclips channel.
For BNA ideas Look up the Canada Story of Us (CBC but RUclips has it). Big project could be a play reenacting the different battles. I used a textbook when I was in school so can't help with the book part sorry.
I actually have the story of us textbook! that'll be my spine for the unit. But I'll have to look for the tv series. It's always more interesting when it's on film.
Purchased your undated planner from Amazon. Great product 👍🏽
Yay! Thank you!
Oh! Where do I find this?
This was so fun! Lots of neat books!!
thanks!
How do you do quiet and clean up time? X
We started as toddlers with a set amount of time in their room (which was safe). Now it looks like 2 hours of free play (no screens unless it's raining) either in their play room or outside. They can play quietly (with a little music, but not loud). I go another room and do some work or chores or something quiet myself.
As for cleaning... it's changed over the years. What we're currently doing (and kind of have all year) is morning chores right after school, usually 3-5 tasks. When they are done, they are free for the rest of day. I recently implemented afternoon chores that I call the power half-hour, where they have a few tidy-up chores to do while I'm making dinner.
