- As I’m busy planning what our next year will look like for homeschooling and curriculum, I’ve been busy deciding what unit studies topics we will be doing. Unit studies are the primary way we do science and social studies in our home. And, I love letting my kids have a say in what we learn about.
So, after many chats and discussions, we’ve finally narrowed down our list and what curriculum we’ll be using!

These unit studies look amazing! I look forward to your next video.
Glad you like them!
Always love it when you share the resources you use to teach Canadian history!
I'll probably make my own this year...but I might put it up for sale...
Also my kids ended up loving simple machines (and me too) . We had so much fun finding examples in real life and building our own!
I think it's sounds boring (like SIMPLE machines) but once we get into it, they'll love it!
Simple machines is so much fun (physics teacher here). Can be fun to make into a scavenger hunt. Make a spoon catapult and pelt marshmallows at each other. Create balloon rockets with yard sticks and string at an angle (attach balloon with a straw) and will create a zip line. We did the zip lines across the whole room. Great way to end simple machines is a fun trip to an amusement park as it’s all simple machines ❤
I think they'll love it once we actually get into it. Alexie is all about building and engineering so it'll be right up her alley!
Love your plans!
So do I. I find your videos encouraging and inspiring. I plan to homeschool my daughter. I don’t want the government teaching her.
Thank you!
Yah!! Thanks!
If you want, to help you look for resources: Space (Grade 6), Simple Machines and Forces (Grade 2 and 3), Human Body (Grade 5), Colonizers (Grade 7/8)
Thanks! I'm not one to follow the curriculum and more interested in following my kids. But it does make it easier to find units when you know what "grades" the subject fall under.
I would love to know which read aloud chapter books you’re planning to use with these unit studies!!!! Please!!! ❤
Coming soon! I love adding a big book to a unit study!
