I can't agree more with you. I have a 2002 R1 and its just a fantastic bike. Not only what you say about the power delivery but its weight is another strong point. It is much more lighter than the followings models.
    Nice video. Very well explained.
    Thanks !

I own a 01' had an 03' (loved her) , and have an 05'. By far the 05 is the fastest of the lot. But the 01 Carb bike "feels" the scariest. older weight distribution and power delivery make for a raw and dangerous ride. Snapping wheelies everywhere and the seemingly endless powerband.
The 03 was a step up in everyway . More powerful and just a fun machine to ride. The fuel injection made for a softer power delivery . And a peaky powerband. You can feel the spikes in power as you rev up.
The 05 is the beast of them so far (from the ones I own, ) she is more tame than the others. Less wheelie happy. You have to try to wheelie. You can't just yank on it from stop and get up. if you are moving , yeah it will still rise up on you at a good middle powerband rpm. The behavior is calm and sane. I think its the perfect evolution to such a awesome bike.

Hi mate, when you remove the heatshield rubber mat to expose the plug holes. You can see 2 black attachments? where a hose can be attached on? Don't know what they are called. They are extensions from the carburetor, one just below plughole 1 and one below plughole 4, tubemouth facing inwards. At 4:04 / 4:05 in your video you can clearly see the one on the left (plughole 1) where that thin black hose just lays on top of it. What is it and shouldn't there be a hose connected to it? (I don't see one on yours. Mine didn't had a hose between them either... Cheers! 👍

No I don't think there attach to anything. There the very same description as by yourself on my 1999 R1 as well. They just seem to just sit on the rubber mat/shield thing

I always use NGK's and a company called chrome battery for my batteries. I don't use external fuel filters and if it comes with one, I always get OEM. I've had flow issues with aftermarket. The 03 is a great bike. You're from.my home state, I'm from Long Island.

Most horrible job to on my bike because of the awkwardness of where the plugs are, especially numbers 1-4 my one is the 98.
