Many mainstream media are bullies, what they do isn't like a reliable researcher should have done by being objective instead they choose dividing people with their own opinions or their company's policies like CNN, BBC, Al Jazeera, Channel 4 etc. We all must stand for peace! Don't let these bullies go ahead with their hateful agenda.

It would have been better if the discussion was longer, perhaps about 10 minutes longer. I'm quite sure that there were points that both Rachel Shabi and Natasha Hausdorff would have liked to have made but couldn't because there wasn't enough time. Yalda Hakim seems a bit of a weak moderator.

I truly don't understand the desire to blame the IDF for every Palestinian casualty in this war why simultaneously asserting Hamas is not responsible for any of the deaths because they Hamas say so. The inarticulate premise here is the hatred many have against the Jewish state, it seems to blind fairness

  • @jacobcohen9205

How many Hamas/ Palestinian casualties would Ms Shabi accept as being 'fair'? She says, 'Permissible civilian deaths'?
How many would she find acceptable? Would she accept None? That's how many there would have been had her friends in Hamas not invaded Israel and committed the atrocities they did last October 7.
Doesn't she know that war, particularly war in an Urban battleground, creates casualties in large numbers among the civilian population? This war has shown the IDF has taken more measures to mitigate civilian deaths than any army in the history of warfare. 1:2 or less civilian to military deaths. Horrendous as that is, it's far lower than in any other comparable war.
    Shalom

Rachel Shabi is wrong to say it is up tojournalists to decide for themselves at the risks. Children dying is terrible. However, I have not heard one journalist ask how Hamas identifies the word children. My understanding is that “children“ are defined by Hamas to include late teenagers. Therefore, many of those killed were either Hamas fighters or children of those sympathetic or aiding Hamas. If the ratio of civilians to combatants is relevant to a war, the ratio at which civilians have died is the lowest in history. I would also like to know the number of people that Hamas has killed to keep them from fleeing.

The ministry of health may have been a reliable source in the past, but it isn't now. There is clear evidence of it being unreliable, misleading and intentional in doing so. Evidence such as it itself saying at least 11 thousand of the count is unverified/incomplete/fake. When handling reality and seeking truth, when a source becomes unreliable, you should dump it, not say "it was fine in the past". Actually, you should start looking at past reliances on it and check that they weren't false too.

Also around about this time there was a conference in the UK about the validity of evidence presented by journalist on TV and in the media in general. Apparently there is a big industry that has grown up around fact checking it is extremely costly to get this done and it takes a long time as you can imagine to fact check every news article.
So forensically speaking, I suspect that Rachel Shabbi was lying. And trying to bolster up her profession as a journalist which to be honest is looking a grim shadow of the prestige it use to have.
