Homeworld Remastered Review - Difficulty Spikes but Pretty Good

- Homeworld Remastered Collection is two good games in one package on PC. Homeworld 1 and Homeworld 2 are both classic RTS games that have a good mix of story (bits of Battlestar Galactica and Dune) and gameplay with some difficult moments that only bring it down a tiny bit. I first played the games when I was younger so I have little nostalgia for the games and I'm looking forward to what they can do in the sequel Homeworld 3.

Really liked the review, thanks. Could've put a spoiler alert on the story, though it seems pretty straight forward without too many twists :P I didn't have a computer good enough for the original games back in the days (or the money to buy the game), but I'm thinking about giving it a go now with the remastered :)

Giving Homeworld 1 Classic a play is still necessary. As several sacrifices were made to enable a higher ship limit and graphics improvement. Notably no ballistics and reduction to formation/flight behavior of the units. Probably do to lack of talent Gearbox didn't even try to bring these the remaster. Instead copied the assets into the other engine. It seems superfluous, but it felt like a big loss to some of detail and immersion.
Luckily ballistics are confirmed in 3, but no news about the formations.
The review format is great. If anything you could probably extend the detail a little bit.
3:54 In Homeworld 1 (both in the original and the remaster) you can ignore the limit when capturing ships. Although that causes some issues with the scaling difficulty in the remaster (still, worth it). And, as curiosity, the same applies to Deserts of Kharak, although there capturing is more tricky as it is only possible using a hero ability with a cooldown. In both Cataclysm and Homeworld 2, you do have a hard limit. But in Cataclysm capturing is a bit easier. You just need to lower the health of the ship to a half an then use some harvesters (whose required number is the same as with salvage corvettes) who capture the ship in the spot (no need to carry it to the mothership nor wait for a bar to fill up).
PD: Salvage everything!
PD2: 7:38 Most people I know consider the Homeworld 2 story to be by far the worst in the saga. And, althoug I have the same opinion about it, is nice tosee some a new perspective on the matter.
