    This was an interesting match to watch. Orange building towards the sea instead of frontline support was rather unexpected. Don't really see any players doing that. And clearly, it paid off well winning the side that's more likely to lose on naval. I suppose they would be able to support frontline, though rather limited in ways. If the other team had all their frontline putting pressure, I doubt the frontline would hold well.
    Meanwhile, Red clearly isn't a very experience Naval player. Instead of building more destroyers, his decision to make more of those dolphins is questionable. Destroyers are good against static defense, which he would have been able to handle with the advantage he had the whole time. But he just ended up donating metals to Green instead. Even building submarines would have been useful. You can keep them out of the coastal torpedo reach, but still have them within reach of the shoreline of green, allowing the submarines to deny any naval structures from being build. (With some scout to spot) This is typically my go-to when challenging a naval opponent. Green played insanely well though. Definitely learnt a lot about naval retake.

      Red had basically won but he let green take advantage, and the wreckage gave green he lead

      Yeah that naval battle on the bottom was quite the turnaround! I really didn't expect green to be able to maintain their aggression but those T1 subs put in the work!! XD

      What I'd like to see would be the player on the far side beach that normally contests the sea start with hovercraft like in this match, so they can support the player by the rocky bay if they start with ships, while also intervening in the frontline battle by sending hovercraft to harass the enemy frontline players' bases, and they can also easily take over the island and its resources. And one of the backline players needs to support the rest of the team with aircraft, especially scouts over the water and fighters to shut down surprise bombing runs. I think it might actually make sense for them to build a seaplane platform in the pond so they could get sonar & torpedo aircraft in T1 and really be a menace to enemy naval players in both oceans.
      Instead what usually seems to happen is that the player on the far left beach is the only one to contest the sea with no support from the rest of the team and they almost always lose because the other side's navy player has a better starting position that lets them get into the water quicker, the frontline is a stalemate that ultimately gets decided by naval fire support once the seas are decisively taken, and if bombers are used they often destroy multiple bases due to lack of AA before they're dealt with.

      I'm a dedicated weak side front player. This Mao is highly problematic from sea. I would welcome the weak side support spot help cover sea, especially I'd they stick close to the front.
      My loss condition in that spot is usually the inefficient defense I put up on land against sea, including covering amphibious assault. If the sea is less of an issue I can ficus my build much much better.

    What this game is truly missing is some sort of water strider equivalent of the tick. Much like those bugs that scoot on top of water using surface tension, but using tiny hovercrafts on their feet. Then you can have the true endgame: Naval Tick Combat.

    Torpedoes in naval combat do so much damage you can’t go wrong with subs and torpedo bombers to assault a fortified position. Isildurs position is also very hard to defend against hovercraft as all your buildings are in the water and a quick harass deletes half your eco, sub spam kills the rest. You can then harass their entire flank with hover, amphibious or ships or tech up and delete everything with t2/3 ships

    • @BrightWorksTV
      @BrightWorksTV  Год назад

      Yes I agree, those torpedoes can be absolutely devastating! At the end of the day more units is going to beat less units so once the economy is held it's definitely viable to make a ton of submarines and claim the high seas!

      It is but it's tricky. You essentially have to constantly shut down their navy so they can't snowball and then put eco them at least in my experience

    Very interesting game, though I wish you paid more mind to the north sea expansion as I felt like we completely didn't get to see much of that or its impact in the first half. Missed out on a lot of action. Generally too much focus on the south sea, though it was interesting, it wasn't everything,
