I used to use another trick for taking out the leftover candle from its container - I'd stick it into the freezer for a few hours or overnight. Once the wax is frozen it's really easy to literally break it with as simple of a thing as butter knife. If I had any stubborn little pieces of wax still stuck to the bottom (which was very rarely), then I'd use boiling water to remove it. Hope this helps!
