I love your channel. The vibe in your videos are so calming even reviews like this. I know you design your shop to give that feeling. Great job over all.
I am beginning my leathercraft because of your videos and have purchased many of my beginner tools from Weaver Tools. I wholly believe in quality tools, however, almost $1000 for virtually a one trick pony. I think Weaver was smoking something when they priced this. The same motor cost less then $200. With the right skill, you can totally build one for a little over third of the price.
Regardless, I still like Weaver. None powered tools are reasonably priced for quality tools.
FYI you can buy spindle sander sleeves to replace the sandpaper and you can buy whatever grit you want, plus it is much cheaper than Weavers. You can often find them at any hardware store, otherwise Amazon has massive batches you can buy.

I use those rubber glue erasers to clean my sandpaper on my Dremel and let me tell you it works like a dream without wearing down the sandpaper grit like metal brush. You can get them for around $1-$4. The dollar store has them even sometimes

LOL I get your point. Thing is, if you want dust collection, go price a "compact" shoe finisher. I think a Chinese made one starts at 7k

Sounds like the hole through the sanding drum is not properly centered. From your description it also appears like you are ending up doing the sanding and burnishing steps by hand anyway.

Good review. A tad salty for my blood. I tend to find that deer alters work great for burnishing at the end. You could easily make this if you want to but like you said it will probably last forever.
THERE ARE A MILLION AND ONE OPTIONS FOR DROP IN BURNISHER ATTACHMENTS FOR YOUR EXISTING DRILL PRESS. FYI people.
I thought about converting a bench grinder into a burnisher. I love the Weaver one but wow are they expensive.
Many drill presses cannot go in the horrizontal direction, hence the word "Press". If you type in the words "Leather Burnishing Machine" you'll see exact copies of the Tandy Leather one for about $150. That'd be $50 less and you'd still be able to find parts too since tandy resells them.

Way too much for what it is.
Over priced tool, selling an overpriced tool, to ensure the over priced tool can continues to get free overpriced tools. Wash, rinse, repeat.
950+ USD for a rotational tool. Excellent quality. Yet the motor is not aligned to the point the belt falls off. So I'll rephrase: "Excellent quality". And no dust collection. 🤦♂
I find it funny how Americans are indoctrinated into believing in superiority of their "made in US" products.
