  • Adaptive cruise modulates the throttle and brakes to keep the truck at a pre-set distance from the vehicle in front of it.
    Collision mitigation alerts the driver and takes pre-emptive braking action.

    Most dangerous technology ever invented!

    Adaptive cruise control is very dangerous I have it on my International it brake checks you while going down an empty Highway because it catches a sign or overpass it almost gives you whiplash

      My Freightliner picked up on a steel plate in the road. Before I even knew what it was doing it applied the brakes at full forced and brought me to almost a complete stop. Luckily the car behind me was paying attention or I could have been hit. Our fleet manager still swears up and down that the system is the best thing to ever happen. When I voiced my complaints to freightliner, I was told that I need to just pay attention and when the system misjudges something I need to gently apply the brake pedal to prevent it from applying the brakes for me. I said well doesn’t that sound ridiculous. The system that “reduces stress on the driver” does nothing but add more stress to me because I never know when the system is going to freak out on me.

      Adaptive cruise control is another nightmare in my freightliner. You can never get close enough to pass before it slows you down. If I move over before it slows me down then I’m getting ran over and passed the right and getting cut off when they jump back over in front of me. To hell with these “safety” systems. I am a safer driver when I can focus on driving and not baby sitting the radar system waiting for its next hissy fit.

      Mine has freaked out twice now and slammed on the brakes. The one time it jerked me half way into the lane to my left. If it was slick out I would have most likely wrecked.

    Collision Mitigation fails in the winter, as soon as the sensor gets slightly covered in snow it puts the truck, the driver and everone on the road in danger of a jack knife. Kenworths sollution is get out and clean off the sensor, who wants to do that every 10 minutes? Not this driver.
    With all the technology we have in the world some egg head couldn't think ahead enough to install a defroster like they have in the mirrors.
    Epic fail Kenworth.

    For what it's worth, following distance programmed into system is roughly full length of the semi distance from any vehicle in front of you. Even with a. Full load at 65, truck would brake in roughly half that distance on a dry road. Biggest problem/inconvenience is certain roads in different parts of U.S. roads are VERY hard on trucks. Easily throwing radar out of calibration. Once radar is out of calibration, no accident mitigation, no cruise control

    Collision mitigation; In 28 years I’ve never needed a truck to hit the brakes for me. This does it all the time and never when it’s needed. Coming down the hill in snow and ice, no one in front of me, and it decides that I’m going to hit something in front of me and slams on the brakes. This system needs an off button for winter driving. In fact it should be illegal in winter conditions.

      Sure but only the owner or the person(s) authorized by the owner can have it done. Nobody with the proprietary software will do it without authorization. Every connection to the truck is logged and detailed.

      We have that system for over 20 years in europe and since some years even mandatory and its no big deal. The acc is actually the best invention ever since we have much more traffic. Seems like your engineers need to do better work.

  • @AlcoLoco251
    @AlcoLoco251 Год назад +1

    Here's the problem: ACC and CMS are computers. They deal in absolutes; 1s and 0s. They are incapable of calculating for variables, which is everything in the real world. And that alone is dangerous. There has to be a failsafe/option to turn it off or adjust the distance. Some drivers are a danger on the road with this on, especially with selfish, self-centered, impatient automobile drivers on the road that will squeeze into any space there is, ignorant to what it does to the ACC and CMS of the truck behind them and the drivers behind it.

    This system is very very very dangerous…in the slightest of day weather the brakes will automatically apply with out warning…..I’m in Canada and it snows a lot and the front cover gets full of snow and blocks the system but it’s thinking something is in front of the truck and will hit the brakes … worst system ever…fix your issue kenworth!!!!!!
