Awesome video Mike and Brad! Can we please do a video on avoiding hip replacement surgery? Stretching exercises to strengthen the hip please? Hi Bob in the background!! Have a nice day guys!!
I recently aggravated the inside elbow tendon. The tendon that attaches near the "funny bone". It happened because I was using a grip strength device. it developed over time. Any ideas what this is?
In my 50s I hurt my back. I twisted while lifting. I was told I had two options. 6 months of painful therapy or surgery. After surgery I'd be feeling pretty good in 6 weeks. However, I was warned that would be my first surgery and I'd probably end up with more. I went with the PT and it worked. I'm 65 now and the back is pain free and I have full mobility. Well worth the PT.
I did similar. Went to a PT and she charged me for 4 sessions, caused more pain than good and when I asked he if it could be slipping rib along with disc issues, she asked, “what’s slipping rib?”. So I went to a chiropractor and now 6 months later I’m almost better. But the pain I experienced along with severe back spasms that left me vomiting, unable to eat, passing out and sweating in pain, even the local hospital missed it. Sadly not all PT know what they are doing, it was Bob and Brad video on slipping rib which helped me, I got the back pod and contacted the creator and he helped me too! ❤
I've had a few back injuries over the last two decades but my chiropractor has always been able to get me almost as good as before except for the last time for some reason. Over 25 visits in the last 4-1/2 months but still found myself kneeling while brushing my teeth before work last month. Went to the Spine Care Center and got a Rx for a steroid and a referral for PT. After my initial PT visit, I feel significantly better. I'm not sure exactly what the issue is because my symptoms weren't consistent with sciatica, but I'm better than I've been in the last 5 years. The loss of function and mobility was beyond something that I can explain, and the constant pain had me constantly weak. My mind is so much clearer now and I can really only take non-aspirin/ibuprofen. I also tried the NeuroMD and had used my Back revolution in between chiropractic visits to see if I could learn more about what works for me. I appreciate the most basic things in life so much more....Be well!
Bob and Brad: I want to express my heartfelt thanks to you both. I was diagnosed with a severely herniated disk between L2 and L3 (I think... I was so doped up on pain pills, I might have misunderstood what the doctor said). A week ago I could hardly walk, I couldn't sleep due to the severe pain. I had an MRI done last Monday and was considering surgery and / or steroid injections into the spine. Just two days ago, I started doing your spine decompression exercises (pushing up between two chairs) and following your advice on positions to use while sleeping and today I am pain free when seated and I can walk without feeling and looking like Quasimodo. YOU GUYS ROCK! I CAN'T THANK YOU ENOUGH!!!!!
I’m 52 and have been doing the last 2 exercises pretty much daily for several years, they work great for me. I wake up daily with low back pain/tightness which is why I started to do them. And no I didn’t see a physical therapist but I do watch this channel
I had a chiropractor who kept telling me I didn't need surgery. I was told I would lose mobility in my leg if I didn't address it "soon enough" by my neglectful NP. A family member and the chiropractor both told me "you're not in as much pain as you think you are" and when I showed my chiropractor the MRIs, he said it "didn't mean anything" that my herniated disc was calcified and I wasn't improving after more than half a year of treatments. I was in PT for a month and tried different approaches. Surgery literally saved my life.
@@GrannyLinn oh I stopped going a month or two before my surgery! He knew I was in chronic 24/7 pain, I was walking with a limp, and the pain was so bad I was lucky to get 4 hours of sleep uninterrupted. He tried to pop my hip and I yelled, it was so painful. I never went back after that. I tried all the approaches I could- I did all of the stretches and exercises, I went to physical therapy for a month, and my back got so bad I had to get my significant other to help put on my shoes. My surgeon was a wonderful person, and as soon as I woke up from surgery, I just started crying. It had been years since I had little to 0 pain. I would rate my pain to a 9- it almost caused me to faint one time. But since surgery- I've been at a 0 to 3. I've been trying to find more resources and exercises or poses for people who already went the surgery route- I only find "if you have-" or "to avoid surgery" stuff. Some people need surgery- some don't
I am 71 and currently have PT as recommended by my doctor, I am in my 3rd week and I am 50% better, my therapist is great, did the suction cups, several different exercises, and he has done acupuncture which brought instant relief. I was diagnosed with spondylitis and immediately started therapy. At this time I believe I will have avoided surgery, time will tell.
I had bad shoulder pain for years, I heard about the trick to hang from a pull-up bar and it worked amazing. I told my family, my grandma said she used to hang as well! My dad on the other hand had surgeries on both shoulders and refused to try. I love this channel and send your videos around to anyone complaining about pain.
After many years with back pain, I can say that physical therapy was the number one treatment that helped. I finally ended up having to have surgery, but physical therapy before the surgery helped me recover faster. I have a home program that I follow every day.
I had a 1cm L4 hernia and doctors wanted to do surgery. I believed in the power of my body and did a year of Physio and kinesiology. Had an MRI and neurosurgeon was shocked at “what I did to heal”. I have zero back pain and feel as good as before my injury. I have education now on how to and not to move/ bend to keep my spine healthy and am thriving. Had a friend that had a minor hernia, had surgery and has suffered back pain three years post surgery.
My 82 year old Mother is suffering with lower back pain.... This is helpful and hope we can get her some pain relief because surgery is not a likely option at her age.
Just turned 60, I have had 6 surgeries since 1991 due to stenosis or discs. My 2nd time with a pinched nerve. Some of these exercises work. Bending the knees to my chest won't bend on my right side. It can cramps so bad that I can't walk on it. I want to get better to get back to cycling. I will use the stretches until my MRI results. Thanks guys!
I still needed kyphoplasty after an L2 fracture. Still affects me to this day. When they say it’s “pain free”, they just mean generally. I still suffer from flare ups, aches, pains, bad days, etc. should have never had to go through this in the first place, but here I am.
@@Kindlylisten3...of course they're not barbers. Don't take it out of context. I'm sure you're familiar with Dr. David Hanscom (back surgeon)? And I'm sure you probably wouldn't care to know. (Hint: it has to do with why so many back surgeries are failures.)
I fully agree and am a fan of PT, having recovered from two bouts of sciatica with PT and the beginning of a third episode with a subset of the Princeton Core Exercises (didn’t pursue PT as this was right before the pandemic), despite MRIs showing bulging and protruding discs, stenosis, and mild scoliosis. The exercises require a lifetime commitment. On two occasions, I did not find epidural steroids helpful. Unfortunately, a young family member with a low pain threshold has had three back operations before age 25 and, while better now, might have done equally well with PT. Keep up the good work!
I've been doing the leg pull ups for my back from other videos you showed. It works great every morning! And I tell my Dr what I want to do. They make suggestions, I always choose PT first. Thank you for all your great tips! Btw, I was having issues with my neck. I had pain and it felt like it wasn't being supported by my body. Rick Olderman talked about the problem was coming from the upper back being weak. You guys made a video with Mike demoing that stretch. The first time I did it made a huge difference I didn't expect. I've continued with it... no more pain! Thank you again!! 😊 ❤️
What do you think of neuroplastic pain? I have been suffering from sciatica for 4 months. It really depends upon the PT. I had one who recommended surgery and said she didn't believe in taping. BIG red flag! I found a PT who used tape, I got off all medications and never looked back. Physio with a GOOD PT the way to go.
I have been helping a friend who just had back surgery 4 wks ago. She webt to an orthopedic surgeon. I told her to get a neurologist but wouldn't listen. She will not go take walk or any exercise. She is getting stiffvand what kind of doctor would not give her a backbrace? I have had 4 ducs removed from my neck and 3 discs removed in lower spine. I know how she she feels and I have warned her, that if she doesn't move around, she won't be doing anything but sitting on her arse. I learned a few things from you guys this morning. If you know of how I can get her butt off that sofa would be a blessing. ❤ I have known others that had back surgery by chiropractors, and each one failed.
My lower back has been painful for 7 yrs and multiple PT hasn’t helped BUT I have also had a neck impingement that long along with arm pain and I couldn’t lift my arms above my head for an entire year. I decided not to have surgery and instead worked on my neck/back muscles and arm pain and mobility was totally resolved. Always think of this before considering any surgery!!! Lastly, my PT doctor tells me many patients he has (who’ve had surgery) still all end up back in his office with remaining pain.
It would be helpful if you continue to point to the place/ side where the pain is each time you move from 1 stretch to the next. That way we can keep track of which side it is that’s still the painful side.
I’ve had months of pt,12 epuridals ,mild procedure etc… I have spinal stenosis for years and sciatica for the past 4-5 years. Now it’s 24/7 and I’m told surgery but I haven’t heard any happy people afterwards. In fact heard most said they were sorry they did it
We have heard a lot of the same things. We always try to fix it without having surgery and this what we recommend, however in some cases, surgery really is necessary. We would recommend you watch our Sciatica program videos to make sure you've tried everything in there before having surgery, but if you have, it may be time to consider the surgery. I have been seeing a chiropractor but I've been skipping sessions. Recommended some exercises he wants to do joint manipulation. Therapeutic exercise and therapy modalities. I made an appointment for tomorrow May 2,2024
I love PT❤ For years I dealt with back pain and sciatica Got a new doctor she discovered I had a herniated disk and sent me to PT. I went twice a week with printouts for homework. At first I doubted it was working. But I kept at it and after couple of weeks the pain went away and never came back. BTW doing PT isn’t painful. Don’t believe anyone who tells you that-even if he is a surgeon. Try it first. It saved me. I’m so grateful for my therapist. If I ever get debilitating pain again in any part of my body I’m glad I know who to see.
I've been struggling with Sciatica since May. I pulled my back lifting and later my thigh and calf started to hurt. Had a CT scan that was inconclusive so my Dr said I could have a herniated disc and gave me some muscle relaxers and told me to take it easy. I you tube everything about Sciatica. I say the DR two weeks later with no changes and told him about the PT exercise I found on You tube and started with the 4 basic exercises and included the ones from this video last month. I still have severe pain in my left bum and cannot sit in a chair, pressure on the lower hip bone is tight and very painful but my back as not hurt for 2 months. What am I doing wrong? Did I overdue the exercises or is there some exercises I have missed?
Great video, thank you. Please could you let me know if someone has had sciatica pain for years because the area the nerve has to be in is a bit tight is it possible that if this person started taking high levels of vitamin D will this space that is causing this pain get tighter and cause more pain? Thank you.
Can you guys review that “shoulder reliever” the stick with the weighted balls for shoulder pain rehab? Formerly “rotator reliever” If it is any good why isn’t the modality seen in any mainstream physical therapy? But i have only seen positive reviews …. It’s about $200 so i dob’t want to waste my money
I am 71 last night my legs cramped up so bad pins and needles hurt so bad. I got out of bed massage my legs and started walking around the house I don't know what doctor keeps telling me to take 300 mg of gabapentin add turquoise run after I started feeling all this awful pins and needles and cramps in my legs and feet. It started with sciatica and is that to the point when I start walking anywhere I have to go to the bathroom I have to go to do one and two. I was at Walmart the other day my right leg went numb and crampy and I had diarrhea so it's gotten that bad.

My MRI results came back showing a severe herniation L4 L5…PT is not really working and my Neurologist recommended me getting surgery as I don’t have connectivity to muscles in my left leg and it’s been 1 month since this started. Is surgery the best course and will I regain feeling and muscle connectivity in my leg after?

Are you for Real. I do these stretches.. before this awful pain. And now with agony..thoughthey were helping the other day. But t he pain is awful. Could it have something to do with the broken bed I have to sleep and sit on. This is awful. I also have a bad knee problem. That appears to be throwing my b ody of when my back isn't so bad. Been trying to get help in a bad situation.
As someone who’s had shoulder surgery when actual targeted physio could have fixed it, do not get surgery. Mine was made worse by work and ended up in surgery, but the recovery from surgery wasn’t worth it.

Hi Lorraine....what has helped you? I have the same issue as you.....
Dear legends..
What type of back pain can cause numbness in the big toes?
I follow 2 stretches you do
Great video, thank you.
Can you recommend any exercises for someone who has L4/L5 stenosis, scoliosis and arthritis? Any PT exercises my husband has tried increase the pain.

Thank you for sharing to us😊
I thought the consensus was that as we age we're more susceptible to herniated discs?
This can be true
@@BobandBrad bad body mechanics will be bad body mechanics as they say.
Brad, do you think Taekwondo is healthy long-term? I personally think it's a fantastic all-round workout, and the best part is your Master can always modify your training.
Sir, Does coccydynia can make nerve pain around it?
And that last exercise, if you have osteoarthritis and it hurts to bend the knees like that, okay to not just bend it so much?

Hello what can u do for a inguinal hernia 3mm
I recently aggravated the inside elbow tendon. The tendon that attaches near the "funny bone". It happened because I was using a grip strength device. it developed over time. Any ideas what this is?
Does this work for osteoarthritis?
We would suggest you consult your doctor first

My brother had 3 back surgeries and none worked . He is 71 and miserable

As someone who’s had shoulder surgery when actual targeted physio could have fixed it, do not get surgery.
Mine was made worse by work and ended up in surgery, but the recovery from surgery wasn’t worth it.
Very sorry to hear that!
