It was on my bucket list too! I visited this month and loved it, I'm sure you will too! I have some tips on my channel too 😀 Just found this video... I enjoyed revisiting Amsterdam through it, nicely put together! 😀
Thank you for the tour. Don't miss the Van Gogh Museum. Another impressive indoor space is the public library, within walking distance of the Centraal station. I've been to Amsterdam 3 times; it's my favorite city. The reason I went there for the first time was to see the Van Gogh Museum, which I adore, and which, for me, is the most exciting attraction in all of Amsterdam. I chose that as the highlight of my 65th birthday celebration in 2021, my most recent visit. Everywhere I went, the locals were kind enough to help me celebrate. I don't have any plans for travel anytime soon, but I do hope to get there at least once more before I shut down my list of dreams waiting to be realized!
Thank you so much for sharing your experiences in Amsterdam. I had the Van Gogh museum on my original itinerary but I didn't think to buy tickets in advance so unfortunately when I arrived an learned I needed to reserve a time I found out the next available time was after I had to leave the city. But at least I have a good reason to go back!
@@DomanationTravelsThat's what happened to me re the Anne Frank House. If and as soon as I make plans to go again, I'll go ahead and book a ticket for Anne Frank if it's available. The canal cruise that I boarded just in front of that museum was great, so at least I know how to find it!
I come to Amsterdam 3 times a year and it is the most beautiful city in the world!! long live the big joints and the girls!! greetings from Switzerland
RE: Anne Frank House--tickets go on sale on Tuesdays for the week six weeks in advance. When I booked on a Wednesday morning, almost all the tickets were gone, except for those at the last entry time. I suggest be ready to book very first thing when the tickets go on sale to get your best selection. I am going in early May (not height of summer). Thanks for all the other great suggestions!
Also, a little less known tidbit, they reserve a select number of tickets and release them on the Tuesday of the week before. We are traveling here soon and were unable to get the tickets in advance but were able to get 4 the Tuesday prior to our trip. Be ready come 10am local time!
Just returned from Amsterdam and it is a must visit place. People are friendly and helpful. The museums are so enjoyable. so Many restaurants to cater for all tastes.
We are arriving in Amsterdam tomorrow for 3 days before our Viking Rhine Cruise. Great video and info. Will be renting a bikes with my wife and touring the park!
That was a great video. You should be proud. I travel to the Netherlands yearly (family/friends). I really think you did a great job showing what the city can offer. Not focused on the party, but the actual experience of being there. Was really good.
that was a really interesting video: i went to amsterdam for 3 days a few years ago; but was very interested in all the different places you went: thankyou
LOVE your approach and set-up of the vid ! B.t.w. the stadhuis (now royal palace) is classicist of the early 16-hundreds. The term 'neo-classicism' is mostly from the 19th-century. 🌹
@DomanationTravels - great video! Can you share info on the Bed & Breakfast in Haarlem please? Planning to go there in August with my family and looking at options. Thanks!
I went to Amsterdam last year twice for 3 days it was quite the experience I walk a lot and I didn’t really bother with paying for any museums kinda wasn’t my thing I went into a few free ones but yeah it was crazy
Thanks for watching. On their website the tickets are sometimes available at a cheaper price than buying them in person. I check just now and it's not quite as cheap as when I visited but they still offer a small reduction.
I luv the City, I usually stay Niew Mart area when I visit my friends. U gotta say hello and grab a bit at Tony's food truck, he's parked in Niew Mart plaza...
Thanks for watching. I think for my trip that Amsterdam Card would not end up being worth it but I need to crunch the numbers a bit more. I think if your itinerary is very heavy on museums it may make sense but I don't think it covers Anne Frank House or the Van Gogh museum. I got around on public transportation and purchased day passes (except for the day I rented a bike and used the bike to get around everywhere).
Great video! I stayed in Alkmaar and visited Amsterdam for 3 days as well. I also did a video on it but the weather in your videos looks amazing! Was it sunny the whole time? I went in the Autumn so it wasn’t quite as dry! 👍
As someone who’s seriously looking into traveling internationally for the first time this year would you recommend this as a good starting place? And if so how was getting around without knowing Dutch?
Thanks for the great question. Amsterdam is a really easy place to travel for your first international journey. Almost everybody is able to speak English just fine and English is also used for a lot of signs.
Our first international trip was to Portugal. It was amazing and we’re ready to go back. The people are very friendly, most speak English and we found it affordable in the off season. We’re headed to Amsterdam next month.
Fries were invented in Flanders, Belgium. And that region used to be part of The Netherlands... We still share some provinces with Flanders and share the same language: Dutch. So us Dutch have been making fries along with our Belgian brothers since the invention of fries. Just as a rminder: fries were NOT invented in France but for some reason in the USA they call them French fries.
We (people) will be in Amsterdam in late April 2024. The hotel in Amsterdam is so expensive. Could you recommend the hotel in Haarlem? Is it easy to travel back and forth between Haarlem to Amsterdam and the airport? ( I have an early flight departure flight in the morning) Thanks in advance.
Thank you for your questions. I stayed at Bed & Breakfast Hotel Malts, they were very friendly and offered a lot of great advice about Haarlem. Travelling to Amsterdam from Haarlem is easy, the train runs every 10-15 min and then it's about 10 min walk to the hotel. From Haarlem to the airport there is a bus service that we pretty convenient. The Hotel owners gave me information about it. I don't know how early the bus runs so as a back up you might need to train to Amsterdam and then transfer to a train that goes to the airport or just take a taxi. I hope this helps.
@@DomanationTravels Thank You!! Should I buy the 2 or 3-day regional ticket? because of this travel back and forth. I will be in Haarlem 3 night and 2 days
@@timnguyen1925 I'm also doing research before visiting Amsterdam and I think the regional ticket would be a good choice for you to travel between Amsterdam and Haarlem.
Mr yllari just go to Lebanon Syria Gaza palestin Iran Iraq Yemen dubai Afghanistan Qatar Kuwait Egypt Turkiye Morocco that is your real heaven and for your Allah SWT. Don't ever come to the European countries at all.
Where are the cheapest places in Amsterdam to buy souvenirs like magnets or keychains or any other small souvenirs like small or tiny wooden shoes or windmills statues? Are there any souvenirs for 1 Euro like keychains? Are postcards cheap there? We will be staying in a hotel near the Central Station. Thanks for your assistance. Also, where can you get change for the penny machines? When we went to Rome last year, it was hard to get change and they made you buy something. One vendor yelled at us for trying to buy items separately to get more change. We are hoping Amsterdam will not be like that.
Thank you for watching! To be honest I didn't buy any the souvenirs so I am not sure where the cheapest place will be. But if you are staying in the central city you will run into a lot of souvenir shops so I am sure it won't be too hard to find something that fits your budget. I'm also not sure about penny machines since I didn't try that either. Sorry to hear that you had that experience in Rome and I hope it is much more pleasant in Amsterdam!
@@DomanationTravels Thanks for your reply. We were just inquiring if businesses give change because it was hard to get change in Rome. Businesses in Rome were unwilling to give us change and told us to buy things, but we weren't getting enough change still to get the elongated pressed/smashed pennies. We were wondering if businesses in Amsterdam would or who would? Thanks.
