Excellent Movie when I first saw it in theatres back in May, 1996 (just about a week after my 11th birthday at that time) and still groundbreaking with incredible effects of the Tornados! Plus, Helen Hunt and the late, great Bill Paxton were great together. I have it on VHS and Blu-ray. Would love to upgrade the 4K UHD release since I heard it has a stunningly strong video transfer (even though it's a green tint color grading) and a breathtaking Dolby Atmos track!
I just watched this movie over the weekend with the fam and we liked it. I got it for $1 on DVD from bookoff. I’m ok with the DVD no need to upgrade. The 4k cover is awesome though.
A friend of mine owns a drive in and the movie studio pulled Twister off the market the first two weeks of the release of Twisters, which to me is stupid, but he's going to hold off the two weeks to show both.
I hope Universal will do this too, but only outside of the USA, Canada and Philippines, because that’s where they distribute the movie instead of Warner Bros.
I always loved this movie, I too watched this on VHS tape all the time. Don’t get why people cr@p on it all the time. The planned sequel though I will say looks dumb as sh!t 😂, at least the advertising for it is.
New on 4K UHD Blu-ray: • The SpongeBob Squarepants Movie (2004) First Time on 4K UHD Blu-ray from July 16, 2024 • South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut (1999) Now on 4K UHD Blu-ray • Friends - The Complete Series First Time on 4K UHD Blu-ray from September 24, 2024 New on Blu-ray: • Top Cat - The Complete Series First Time on Blu-ray from August 27, 2024
0:49 it's a standalone sequel in which its only a sequel in title only. That said I saw the 8 minute extended preview earlier today of this and it doesn't look bad.
The only special features missing from the 4K disc are the mid-length History Channel program "Nature Tech: Tornadoes" and a pair of theatrical trailers.
This film was a groundbreaking film released in 1996. It became the first movie released in DVD ( almost three decades is released in 4K 😮) Universal Studios in Orlando made a "Ride" in their theme park based on this movie ( it was replaced in 2015 with Jimmy Kimmel in NY attraction). This movie made releasing big budget summer movies a standard in the month of May. It made almost half billion dollars (huge numbers for a 1990s film🤑). Helen Hunt was working to direct a sequel but it all fizzled out. There is a lot of interesting information on this movie on Wikipedia to learn about it.😏

It’s more of a sequel
No it's more of a remake. So many recycled ideas. @@Darthpool2016

Another reason to keep your previous releases because of the laziness of studios not porting extras.
