The thing about these yearly comparisons is that auction prices are up and down depending on who’s at the auction. That’s why you need to look at multiple sales and averages to determine value. Also, all books with the same technical grade are not all the same in terms of value. If a 3.0 presents better -looking than the grade, it’s worth more.
This is all very average numbers, I agree. Very subjective in actual true data comparison models. Some grades do sell for more when they just look better. These high-end buyers look for that discretion.
I like this analysis but I have a feeling something was up with that 4.0 that sold for 5k. How is that lower than a 3.5? Surely it much have been green or purple label. I appreciate this data collection you do but I question where it’s coming from because in many cases the numbers might not be accurately representing the true change
Some auctions slip through the cracks especially during big events and holidays, but he shows the average of all grades which is probably the fairest representation I can think of.
These prices are individual sales, any one of which could be considered 'outlying data' for a price evaluation. It also fails to capture the circumstances of the sale, whether it was sold under duress. IE The seller needed liquid cash in short order and willfully sold at a loss. ( not happily, but willfully) as the best option in a bad situation. In such tiny sample sizes it pays to examine each sale individually.
I still consider all of these books grail. I would be happy to have any of them in my collection to go along with my complete run of tales of suspense and iron man.
I remember the AF 15 that sold for 117k (cgc 7.5) had like several small to medium sized pieces taken out of it (like color touch removed on it) and presented more like a 6 to 6.5 and that is why it sold for so cheap. For these big books, the presentation impacts the price tremendously.
Dave, you forgot to put X-Men#1 1963 on the silverage list and it's a bigger book then the first Thor book.

My best comics- asm 1 6.0 signed by Stan. Wouldn’t let it go for less than 22k
*_Looking at the HULK No.1's from a 3.5 and down and then looking at the price of the HULK No.1, 3.5, Restored, on your website is a bit odd._*
“Comics are recession proof”
I bough AF15 in february 2022 just after the 3rd Spider-Man movie bigest financial mistake of my life.
Ouch on the AF15 CGC 2.0.
Except for the buyer 😊
Yeah, the buyer made out on that one. It’s a $20,000 book all day!

Just proves af15 is bullet proof
Wait until the full affects of the egregious CGC scandals begin to impact the market.
