  • This is the start to finish transformation video of my 1972 Porsche 914. It started out as a barn find project and is now a vintage rally car themed street car. I hope you enjoy the video, the quality will get better as I get better at filming and editing.

    Great job! Love seeing 914’s being used for what they were made for “driving”!

    Saw this at the speedway that Luft weekend, and took a bunch of pics of it. Awesome car and seeing the trip you did with your son was even better.

    I am the owner of 2-1974 914's. One I restored 15 years ago and I have put 25K miles on it. Chevy guy who has fallen in love with these cars.The other I stripped to bare body and rebuilt everything. It's a 2.0, dual Webers, factory sway bars, Bilstein shocks, 5 bolt fucks replicas. Painting shell tomorrow.

    Great video and even greater build! I knew you guys put in a lot of work on that beauty, but had no idea how much. Amazing. A true technician and artist!

      Thanks so much Scott!! It has been a lot of work but very rewarding. I wish you were closer so I could help fix your "speed holes".

    Fantastic video! Great to hear about your 914 project. It was one of the best cars I saw at Checkeditout last summer. Hope to see you and your 914 at an upcoming event.

    Cool build! Great choice ditching the single-carb setup, they're pretty bad on our cars.
    One suggestion: Make the mounting of the new (awesome!) muffler to the body a flexible one. The whole drivetrain moves around when under load, and if that join at the muffler end is solid you will be putting a lot of undue stress on the exhaust studs in the heads. You do not want undue stress there...

    • @loudpedalgarage3503
      @loudpedalgarage3503  2 года назад +1

      Thanks for the suggestion Dave, I agree i need some sort of soft mounting for the exhaust. I am hoping to build "version 2.0" of the exhaust this spring and I will definitely incorporate that.

    Great build. After seeing my 914 sitting bare chassis at it's maximum suspension travel for more months then I intended, I started to want to build a rally gt version. It is getting pretty hard to find one for decent price anymore.

      Thank you so much. They are shooting up in price for sure. I feel like I got lucky and bought mine right at the end of them being cheap.

    Cookiemonster 😀. Love the way everything turned out. Could you tell me what those black pipes are on your mufflers? I am restoring a 914 right now and I would love to make an exhaust just like yours. Any other tips you would recommend for building the exhaust? Thanks

    • @loudpedalgarage3503
      @loudpedalgarage3503  2 года назад

      Thank you for the kind words, I am really happy with how the exhaust turned out. I am fighting a droning issue on the highway but I think i can solve that by modifying the cone mufflers at the exit. I will probably be making a video this summer where I work through that issue.
      I believe the black pipes you are referring to on the exhaust is the mufflers. They are simple header mufflers from speedway motors. I actually bought all of the mandrel bends and mufflers from speedway.
      Thanks for watching and best of luck on your 914!!

    According to Babvvo and Tebbvo laws, sadly soon all combustion cars and trucks including classics will be banned from public streets in entire EU and Scandinavia :-(
    In Germany the Green Peoples Party gave order to shorten fuel supply from 2025
    on by reducing all conventional fuel stations to only one state operated central gas station per city or county. Car washs will be forbidden too because they are climate killers, now they want to slow down all the gas station pumps from 20 litre per minute to 2 litre per minute...From 2027 on in the EU certain car spare parts will be banned too....as exhaust systems, turbo chargers and even some engine and gearbox oils...California and New York will do the same from 2027 on.... So no investments should be done in oil burning cars any longer....They even created a new kind of crime here, called emissions and smoke crime!!!!!!!

      Don't worry. There's one step between here and the dystopian future they want to give us. THEY will have to win the oncoming civil war. Their chances are slim. Remember, in 1776 only 3% of the population took part in the fighting.
