I love Accept but Blackout changed my life. When I first heard No One Like You explode from the speakers of my parent's car in '82, I became a lifelong fan. 80's Scorps led me to 70's Scorps + MSG and UFO....so, litetally, my life was changed by Blackout. Thanks Scorpions!
Blackout is absolutely the perfect album! It has an iconic opening track and just as iconic closing track ( When The Smoke Is Going Down is my fav Scorpions track ) and everything in between is A-class as well. Klaus Meine is a top three singer in my books! I instantly fell in love with his voice as a teenage girl in 1985, listening to that voice on my Dad's 70s headphones while those magnificent Scorpions ballads were playing on my Gold Ballads EP from 1985 is a very vivid memory for me. So yeah, no contest because I've only listened to Accept a little bit in recent years ( their album Blood of the Nations from 2010 is actually really good and that made me check out some of the back catalog. ) One memory I have about No One Like You from early 1986 is that I first heard the live version on World Wide Live at the end of 1985 and loved it, and then the radio played the studio version a few months later which of course I had to get on a TDK blank tape - and I couldn't stand the studio version, lol. It wasn't nearly as powerful to me. I still much prefer the live version of that song. Either way, Blackout is a stone cold classic, probably my favorite Scorpions record. Restless and Wild I've heard a few times, didn't really grab me that much, it doesn't have the "shadows and light" that Scorpions music has. There is a reason why I'm not into thrash metal which is ten times more relentless than Accept...

That’s a great point and one I wholeheartedly agree with. Perfect example is You Give Me All I Need. Obviously it’s not the heaviest song in the world, but that’s a great song.

Butch has strong opinions he is not shy to express, its just the music we like at the end of the day- I wouldn’t take it personally if he disagreed with me, its fun to have disagreement on these panels. I don’t think he is mean to people, he was more blunt with Spaghetti than he was with Sydney. I’d talk music with Butch any day and agree to disagree on any topic.
I meant the tension of picking the winner (going down to the last man), not the tension between the panel. I thought they got along just fine, and I really enjoyed the good-natured banter.
I think everyone is misunderstanding what I was trying to say here. Klaus is one of my favorite vocalists of all time, and the Scorpions have been one of my favorite bands for as long as I can remember. What I was trying to describe, is that vocalists like Klaus and Udo are vocalists that in my opinion, have never been known for extreme vocal precision that we see in singers like Ronnie James Dio, Ian Gillian, David Coverdale, etc. Which isn’t a bad thing at all (hence Klaus being one of my favorite vocalists of all time) but something that I felt the two bands and records had in common. If you disagree, that’s absolutely fine! But, I think some are taking it that I don’t think Klaus is a great singer, which seriously couldn’t be further from the truth.
There's been an HVS episode about singers that aren't actually great singers so i totally knew what you meant. You can not be "precision" or "classically" talented but still great.
I think I get what you're saying. I think Klaus pulls his vocal strengths together the best on Still Loving You. I mean, it's a clean vocal without the harshness of songs like Rock You Like a Hurricane, and others. But I think I do agree that Ian Gillan does have prettier vocals. Some people hear things differently. Some can't hear certain pitches. It's very much subjective. My favorite band's singer, Daniela Villarreal from The Warning, is kind of like Klaus in the way you describe that she isn't a perfect singer like Amy Lee, but I think her performance fits their style of rock really well. She gets into the character of the songs she sings like no one else I have ever witnessed. But her voice isn't favored by everyone. Some people on The Warning's RUclips videos claim if they hired someone else, an Amy Lee, or Floor Jansen type, they would be much better and famous. That probably won't happen because The Warning are tightly together in that they're sisters. They are very young, and just got signed to a label, so her voice can probably mature a lot more. Not many have heard of The Warning. As I mentioned, they're really young. I'll leave a link so you can check them out if you'd like. Dany the guitar player is the lead singer. But her sisters help out once in a while. The 1st link will be one of her sisters doing the vocals, Paulina, because it's the song I first heard. Then the next will be Dany's. Blackout is special to me. First hard rock/metal concert I went to. I'm 62 and still remember it. First concert shirt I bought too. Scorpions Blackout by a LONG SHOT!!
as great as "Blackout" is, it's nowhere near their best record...... that would go to some of those Uli Roth albums for sure...... I think Pete chose "Blackout" only because it sounds quite similar to "Restless and Wild" style-wise
After listening to everyone's thoughts on each record, I went back and played both front to back. I do not understand what everyone hears in Restless and Wild. It isn't a bad record, but not great. However Blackout was as fresh and memorable as the first time I listened to it almost four decades ago.
Awww, i felt bad for Sydney getting flack for saying Coverdale is technically better than Meine. Give her a break. She's younger and still learning. She's generations apart from the entire panel. Everyone should be thankful that she's championing rock and metal in the first place.
Accept's awesome Flash Rockin' Man is one of the many songs to feature the quintessential 80s heavy metal riff, whose author is none other than Janick Gers on White Spirit's song Midnight Chaser from July '80. Riot's Swords and Tequila, Mercyful Fate's Curse of the Pharaohs, 2 Minutes to Midnight and Grave Digger's Heavy Metal Breakdown unintentionally or not, took that riff too.
As much as I love 'Restless and Wild' I have to go with 'Blackout' for the win this time. Blackout offered the excellent riffs, soloing, and song-writing of bands like Judas Priest and Dio-era Sabbath with the party-rock vibe of a band like Van Halen or AC/DC. It helped catapult them to superstardom, essentially. I love the excellent production; metallic and larger-than-life. Restless and Wild is a ferocious and unrelenting masterpiece of heavy metal. The riffs are killer, Udo's voice sounds like if Brian Johnson of AC/DC gargled acid. It combines the anthemic song-writing of AC/DC with the boundary-pushing heavy metal chops of Killers-era Maiden, then supercharged. I consider it a masterpiece in this respect, but it loses out today because I feel Blackout has a broader, more immediate appeal. Also, while R&W may be more consistent throughout, the strongest songs on Blackout eclipse them quite easily as far as memorability and the frequency of relistens.
Thank you for your picks. All the damn time. I like Accept ‘ Restless and Wild, but love the Scorpions ‘ Blackout’ and it has an edge for me. My pick : * Scorpions ‘ Blackout’ is what I listen to the most . 🎤🎸🎵🎹🥁 Life is better with music.
I think I'd have to agree with Sydney that David Coverdale is a more technical singer. Regardless of who's voice has held up over the years, David has an incredible and clean range in his prime!!
That’s okay Sydney I understood what you were saying. Klaus is a great singer for the rock/metal genre. it went south when the word ‘technical’ got used. Technically a voice has more range and power by practice or training or just raw talent. You might not like Opera but technically they are the best voices that sing. Style and taste are very very subjective. For example Floor Jansen is technically the best female in Metal given her training and natural ability. I am not a big fan of Symphony Metal but Floor is extremely technical in the use of her head voice and chest voice. Devin Townsend is another incredible 5 octave range vocalist in Rock ( My favorite right now) but technically he is self taught. I love his tone of voice too which is objective. Axl Rose has incredible range in his voice but I hate his tone and style. It’s all down to who you like. If we all loved technically the best singers we would certainly be listening to more opera. Cheers
Butch, talking about Dokken trivia, George Lynch once said that he showed Matthias some tapping techique in the studio and was a bit shocked to find it later on in the Dynamite solo on their Blackout record. :-)
Takeaways from tonight's episode: 1. Steve, Ryan, Butch, Chris, Lynne and Sydney with Chris C. and Spaghetti Lee in the house 2. "...whenever that song came on, I would freak the fuck out" 3. "I want to congratulate Sydney for saying the first "fuck" tonight" 4. "Your parents must be proud" 5. "She also said "twitter" which is a worse cuss word in my book" 6. ""It's called The Internet" 7. "Just f_____g send it to me, d__k"' says Potty Mouth... 8. Steve getting anxious for a fist fight between Sydney and Butch... 9. "Make that face, Butch" 10. "You can't fuck with Wolf Hoffmann" 11. "I took some notes: "Lame" 12. The Judas Priest "chugga-chugga" 13. "Dokken is for mockin', not rockin'" 14. The priceless look on Sydney's face as Spaghetti clowns on Don Dokken. It's been a tough night for Syd between arguing with Butch on the vocal prowess of Klaus Meine and David Coverdale and now this... 15. "Stay on target, people" 16. "I really liked Under Lock and Key...wait a minute, we're not talking about Dokken" 17. "They sent me the wrong damn record!" 18. "Just ask Michael Schenker about Scorpions album credits" 19. "No solos for you" 20. "Ryan has Venom shower curtains and Lynne doesn't" 21. "Chris can go nite - nite" 22. Tonight's secret square was...........Butch Trucks! As for tonight's topic, I pick Scorpions - Blackout. I love side one of Restless and Wild. Side two, not as much. Blackout is my favorite post Uli Roth Scorpions album and "When The Smoke Is Going Down" is my favorite post Uli Roth Scorpions song....
Really loving these album wars of 1982!!! To see album wars involving Assault Attack and Corridors of Power would be cool, although not necessarily against one another.
As much as I like both albums, have to go with Blackout on this. I was 12 and remember hanging with my 15 year old cousin in his room jamming Blackout over and over. It helped shape my music tastes. I really don't listen to either much nowadays but the Scorps win this battle in my little world. Loving these battles, please keep them coming. Thanks!
Great episode gang ! Scorpions for me though I do love Accept. My idea for a future Hudson Valley Squares episode is "Musicians who belong on the milk carton with John Sykes " seriously... . John Sykes is no way alone on that milk carton of missing musicians who could be doing something and where are they now?
I freaking LOVE this Accept album. It is a classic, for sure. That being said...Blackout FOREVER. It has much more nuance (especially vocally), the songs are way more memorable, the playing is more dynamic. Lovedrive into Animal Magnetism into Blackout is as perfect a recording arc trilogy as there has ever been.
Never forget my first hearing of 'Fast as a shark'..Friday Rock show on BBC radio 1 in 1982..new release first radio play...DJ Tommy Vance (RIP) opened the show with it..OMFG!!! But I love both albums and saw both bands on tour that year, friggin' awesome shows!!
Im not a massive fan of either band, though i do LIKE them. This was a lot of fun and Spaghetti is a nice addition. Dont get me wrong, ive watched all the episodes with him. Cheers, guys.
Maybe it is mentioned above; Wolf Hoffman is the one and only guitarist performing on Restless (whole album). I believe he continued to work this way throughout their career adding a guitarist on stage to keep the twin-guitar sound.
Restless and Wild, hands down. Such a killer album. Thank you guys again for making life easier! I know you get thousands Pete, my suggestion for a show, albums that would be perfect except for that one song holding it back. Look forward to all the shows on SoT. You're all absolutely amazing. 🤘🤘
This was a fantastic Battle! So evenly matched! I recently saw a great evenly matched battle (though it was song against song) of Pestilence vs. Morbid Saint that ended up a tie.
Udo always sounded constipated to me, and the Scorpions are one of my all time favorite bands....so it's Blackout all the way for me. Lovedrive is my favorite as well.
Cheers Squares. Scorpions Blackout. I with Butch though Lovedrive is my favorite and Taken By Force is the best early record. China White guitar ‘solo’ is so creepy and ominous. That song is not filler. By the way Kansas Carry On Wayward Son pretty much starts with a long guitar solo maybe a first.
Awesome presentation. Scorpions Blackout for me . Amongst my fav of the band and ‘am not too familiar with the Accept record so it’s kind of simple for me.🤘. These album wars (comparisons) are awesome hence please continue with such episodes as they’re very interesting and informative too. 👍
I was a student in 1982 and bought Blackout when it came out and loved it, especially Dynamite and No One Like You. Accept was played in our Student Rock discos but somehow I was never into it and didn’t get Restless and Wild (on CD) for many years later. Princess of the Dawn is my favourite track from the two albums and is in my top 10 of all time, but of the two albums it has to be Blackout for me 🇬🇧
I don't know but to me the last two weeks there seems to be a recurring theme here where already established bands are going up against up and coming bands and of course this week is no exception and it seems that the up and coming bands so far have taken the win........Maiden (Beast) over Priest (Screaming)........Venom (Black Metal) over Motorhead (Iron Fist).......and now Accept (Restless and Wild) just edging out the Scorpions (Blackout).......for me I myself love Blackout but it's not my favorite Scorpions album Lovedrive is my favorite however like the past two weeks we're talking about the year 1982 and not a lifetime catalogue and as I said before this week is no exception Blackout (4.5) is a great sounding album but the up and coming more hungrier determined band was Accept (Restless and Wild) so for me it takes the win here a perfect 5 out of 5 start to finish
Suggestion for another 1982 episode: Whitesnake - Saints An´ Sinners Rainbow - Straight Between The Eyes Two great bands from the Deep Purple family tree.
I'm using these albums wars to finally catch up on all the classic metal history. I will go with Scorpions b/c i knew the hits from my dad and went to see them in concert with my dad in 2014.
Accept no question! I love both sides. I heard Restless and Wild for the first time from my friend's brother, who was a drummer, soon after it came out. At the time, his brother could play Fast as a Shark without any problems (as well as YYZ). Very few drummers could play it in 1982. BTW, I had the red vinyl record for R&W.
Blackout for me and Klaus is a great singer because I am German I can hear Klaus German accent when he sings people might not like his voice but English second language
Great show! My choice is Blackout. I was never a big Accept fan or something like that. Blackout has more dynamics than Accept which is straight metal. Not that there's anything wrong with that. :) And for the whole discussion abound Klaus not being a technical singer, I disagree. I see Sydney's point, but I believe he has great technique, depth, and skills in his voice and interpretation. When The Smoke Is Going Down is a great showcase of his technical (and feeling) range. :)
Hi Guys and Gals. Great show. These 2 albums were the first that I bought with my own money. I like Blackout, However as I said before Restless and Wild changed my life on music so this comparison is not close IMO. Based on Impact Restless and Wild is a top 5 album of all time IMO.
As 11 years old back in 1982,a class mate gave me a tape with Iron Maiden (my number one 'til today!)on one side and Accept with R&W on the other side and that album which was some of the heaviest shit at this time! I felt in love already,Wolf Hoffmann's unique master guitar sound and Udo's razor blade voice!!! Unreachable!!! But i love the Scorpions also!!! Anyway, still pride we have those two bands in Rock from Germany!!! Cheers and thanks for the video from Stuttgart,Germany!!!
Blackout for me. They played City Island here in Harrisburg Pa in 82 with Rainbow. I honestly didnt hear of Accept until Balls to the Wall. Great Album great show!
Love both albums, but "Blackout" was my introduction to Scorpions and, like Butch, it's my second favorite Scorps album behind "Lovedrive." "China White" ranks alongside "Animal Magnetism" (title track) as the two heaviest Scorpions songs.
My friend Dave and I would trade tapes back on the day, and I remember listening to on of those on my crappy 80s, 1-speaker boombox while taking a bath. This really kick ass song came on about how this guy with a 'big nose,, he 'really had a big nose'. It wasn't til I listened again with headphones that I figured out it was 'Blackouts. That album was more important as a whole even after Dave introduced me to 'Fast as a Shark' but I couldn't name all the songs on Restless and Wild, its harder, but not as impactful to me personally as Blackout.
Accept all the way! They are my favorite German Heavy Metal band ever, and Restless And Wild is my favorite Accept album. I love the Scorpions big time as well, but I only love about half of the Blackout album. My favorite is either In Trance or Virgin Killer. The Uli Jon Roth era is my favorite.
Yes, Trance is the best Scorpions albums in my opinion including great songs that almost no one talks about, while for me Breaker is my favorite Accept, but I love ALL the albums from 1979-86 ( inever bought the Accept and I Am A Rebel are not good albums, they are great!)
At the time, my local radio station in Scotland started a weekly Friday night rock and metal show, and the DJ ("Dave McLeod, rocking out Loud!!!") screwed with our heads as he opened show #1 by speaking softly: "Good evening, and welcome to the first in our series examining the influence of German bierkeller music..." Hi-dee hi doh hi dah.... And then our heads exploded! Tough call, but I'd give this one to Accept. Cheers guys, and remember Spaghetti, Dokken rhymes with Rockin'!! Actually, I only got to see Dokken live once, in Edinburgh... supporting Accept!!!
Restless and Wild is the stronger album for me. Blackout probably has the more memorable single tracks, the hits. Listening to them back to back, I just prefer Restless and Wild.
Back in the 80’s I drummed in a Metal Cover band and we played Dynamite and When The Smoke Is Going Down so would have to pick Scorpions Blackout LP. This LP would be on my top 10 LP of all time ( My opinion). Another fact is, we also played Restless & Wild and Balls To The Wall by Accept. Still love this Accept LP also!
Saw the Scorpions three times 1983-84: Sioux Falls (front row) Sioux City (balcony), and St. Paul Civic Center. Bon Jovi & Quiet Riot opened. Didn't see Accept until 1985, and Iron Maiden in 84 & 85 tours. Blackout, Restless & Wild, & Number of The Beast were the top 3 releases of 1982.
Accept - Restless & Wild for me, l have to go with which album has stayed in my rotation more, R&W is a perfect album. Fast as a Shark, Demon's Night, Don't go Stealing my Soul Away & so on. Not one filler song on the entire album.
Pete , I had the exact same experience with the Accept album. My buddy Pete bought the album we put it on the player in his basement. It starts out and we both looked at each other like What the fuck is this. Then the scream hits and we were like holy shit ,listen to this shit. WOW !
Mtv was a huge influence on record sales in the states. They showed the shit out of that Scorpions vid in 1982. I don’t recall seeing much of Accept until the Balls to the Wall record.
Great and a tough one. I would go for blackout since it was the first metal album I heard completely and was blown away by. Mattias jabs is a phenomenal guitar player and gets barely mentioned in discussions or unfairly compared to uli or Michael. I really like restless and wild too, it was quite close but blackout is a very sentimental pick for me. I agree with spaghetti about restless and wild, side a is killer but side b does pale comparatively. I also think that the album does have some fillers and some lighter party songs that don't do much for me. Blackout has those too but the best songs on blackout have stuck with me more, even the less memorable tracks have some fantastic moments on them. Metal many times for me is about how the guitarists compliment each other and on blackout i felt they just nailed the chemistry part. The solo section of dynamite has such a cool and creative rhythm guitar track. The same goes for can't live without you which has one of my favorite scorpions solos too.
Was glad to see this pop up. Blackout hold special memories. I had seen them in 1979 open for Nugent, Blackfoot tour. They came back to Cedar Rapids, Iowa in 1982 headlining over Iron Maiden and Girlschool. I met the band in the Stouffers Hotel Lobby. Got all their autographs and chatted to Rudold a bit. I didnt hear of Accept until 1983/ 84 when I bought Balls to the Wall cassette and saw them around February in a small club in Texas. I LOVE that album, and went to buy Restless vinyl soon after. I love Restless and Wild and Blackout. ITs a hard toss up, but IM going with Restless, It gets more play for me for the years.
I really love watching the Hudson Valley Squares, but I don't think having a battle with two albums provides enough interesting stuff to talk about for a whole show. I'm only posting because I used to really look forward to watching your videos but since you started album battles I haven't watched any of them anymore. I miss the old conversations! Sorry to be a wet blanket, guys, but I thought you might want to know myself and maybe some others feel this way. Peace.
No I like this- it actually leads to some discussion and disagreement, which is fun rather than people just telling stories. We get to see Chris Alo wearing rubber gloves and explaining why he owns 8 copies of said album.
I'll go with Restless And Wild, just because I have more history with that record. Fast As a Shark smashed me to pieces when I first heard it as a kid. But essentially both are great records and you could go either way.
Restless and Wild kicked it up a notch. The Scorpions Blackout is their last really good record, but the commercial era starts on this record (granted with mainstream success).
These album wars are fucking great. Keep em comin pete! Cheers guys.
I love Accept but Blackout changed my life. When I first heard No One Like You explode from the speakers of my parent's car in '82, I became a lifelong fan.
80's Scorps led me to 70's Scorps + MSG and UFO....so, litetally, my life was changed by Blackout.

Blackout is special to me. First hard rock/metal concert I went to. I'm 62 and still remember it. First concert shirt I bought too. Scorpions Blackout by a LONG SHOT!!
Watching from the Fingerlakes area in upstate New York....Great show group....Rock on!!!!!!
“Restless and Wild” for me. I think “Blackout” is a solid album and I actually dig the track China White.
I was a fan of the SCORPIONS WAY before BLACKOUT. But when a friend of mine played ACCEPT RESTLESS and WILD I WAS BLOWN AWAY! So ACCEPT is my pick.
as great as "Blackout" is, it's nowhere near their best record...... that would go to some of those Uli Roth albums for sure......
Hard to believe Blackout came out that long ago! Why does getting old happen when you’re still so young?!! 😩
Great point !
Hell Yeah Syd 🤘🤘 Animal Magnetism is my favorite Scorpions album too.. We make it real 🤘🤘
Scorpions - Blackout vote
Blackout all the way! Fav Scorpions album. Cheers!
WTF Sidney? KLAUS MEINE IS AN INCREDIBLY TECHNICAL SINGER WITH AN EXTRAORDINARY RANGE! Now Udo is perfect for what Accept does, grit and gravel!
Thank you for your picks.
All the damn time.
I like Accept ‘ Restless and Wild, but love the Scorpions ‘ Blackout’ and it has an edge for me.
My pick : * Scorpions ‘ Blackout’ is what I listen to the most .
🎤🎸🎵🎹🥁
Life is better with music.
I think I'd have to agree with Sydney that David Coverdale is a more technical singer. Regardless of who's voice has held up over the years, David has an incredible and clean range in his prime!!
Yea i think they have to be compared in the time frame they were discussing. in that case i totally agree with Sydney.
Coverdale has held up? You been to a show the last 20 years? Backing tracks don't count. Timothy Drury singing the high notes doesnt count.
@@andrewt4935 I literally said "regardless of who's voice has held up over the years" 🤣🤣
That’s okay Sydney I understood what you were saying. Cheers
Greatest guitar solos to start a song - Elliott Randall "Reelin' in the Years" and Larry Carlton "Don't Take Me Alive" from Steely Dan.
" Dont Take Me Alive" - Perfect Example of the "Souring" intro Guitar Solo..
Butch, talking about Dokken trivia, George Lynch once said that he showed Matthias some tapping techique in the studio and was a bit shocked to find it later on in the Dynamite solo on their Blackout record. :-)
Takeaways from tonight's episode:
1. Steve, Ryan, Butch, Chris, Lynne and Sydney with Chris C. and Spaghetti Lee in the house
2. "...whenever that song came on, I would freak the fuck out"
3. "I want to congratulate Sydney for saying the first "fuck" tonight"
4. "Your parents must be proud"
5. "She also said "twitter" which is a worse cuss word in my book"
6. ""It's called The Internet"
7. "Just f_____g send it to me, d__k"' says Potty Mouth...
8. Steve getting anxious for a fist fight between Sydney and Butch...
9. "Make that face, Butch"
10. "You can't fuck with Wolf Hoffmann"
11. "I took some notes: "Lame"
12. The Judas Priest "chugga-chugga"
13. "Dokken is for mockin', not rockin'"
14. The priceless look on Sydney's face as Spaghetti clowns on Don Dokken. It's been a tough night for Syd between arguing with Butch on the vocal prowess of Klaus Meine and David Coverdale and now this...
15. "Stay on target, people"
16. "I really liked Under Lock and Key...wait a minute, we're not talking about Dokken"
17. "They sent me the wrong damn record!"
18. "Just ask Michael Schenker about Scorpions album credits"
19. "No solos for you"
20. "Ryan has Venom shower curtains and Lynne doesn't"
21. "Chris can go nite - nite"
Thanks!
First time I've caught one of these live. Cheers from Flint, Michigan!!!
Same here and a special one cause I'm from Germany. Cheers
@@grey-friar I spent two years in Erlangen when I was a member of the US Army. Beautiful country!!
One more album battle from 82, Battle Hymns vs Under the Blade
Blackout is a solid album but i think Restless and Wild is a masterpiece so I'm going with Restless and Wild!
Im not a massive fan of either band, though i do LIKE them. This was a lot of fun and Spaghetti is a nice addition. Dont get me wrong, ive watched all the episodes with him. Cheers, guys.
Yeah I am a big fan of Spaghetti Lee, he was a regular in the comments section previously.
Thanks Chris! Accept all the way!!!!
Restless & Wild for me it’s a true classic
Blackout is a very solid album
This is a great show idea! long may Album war continue
Blackout for me. I have always loved Klaus's voice.
I go BLACKOUT. But have both. Good night 💤🌙 all ! 💯
Love the Hudson squares so much fun.
Neither answer is wrong
but the correct answer is "Blackout".
I feel like what Butch was saying ob the topic of technical singing is preference is subjective but whether someone is technical or not is objective
Princess of the Dawn is my favourite track from the two albums and is in my top 10 of all time, but of the two albums it has to be Blackout for me 🇬🇧
HOLY CRAP!!! Creatures vs. Black Tiger?!?! can't wait for next week! Two Good Ones!
Suggestion for another 1982 episode:
Whitesnake - Saints An´ Sinners
Rainbow - Straight Between The Eyes
Two great bands from the Deep Purple family tree.
I had the red vinyl too picked it up at the import store in Toronto
@@MightyMightyFluffer Mine was at Rock en STock in Montreal.
Restless and wild for sure black out was a great album too
Only an occasional listener to Accept, but a big fan of the Scorpions. I have to go with Blackout. Plus, you got to love that cover.
Restless and Wild by a mile. I was never into Scorpions too much after Uli Roth left the band.
And for the whole discussion abound Klaus not being a technical singer, I disagree. I see Sydney's point, but I believe he has great technique, depth, and skills in his voice and interpretation. When The Smoke Is Going Down is a great showcase of his technical (and feeling) range. :)
Yes I remember where I was the first time I heard Fast As A Shark. Amazing & groundbreaking track.
However, I choose Blackout for this one.
Hi Guys and Gals. Great show. These 2 albums were the first that I bought with my own money. I like Blackout, However as I said before Restless and Wild changed my life on music so this comparison is not close IMO. Based on Impact Restless and Wild is a top 5 album of all time IMO.
Love both of them. But if i must pick one i go for restless and wild. Accept was great in the 80's.
Have to agree with Sydney when it comes to Lord Coverdale!
Restless and wild came out in red and white vinyl as well back in the day
Blackout for me. They played City Island here in Harrisburg Pa in 82 with Rainbow. I honestly didnt hear of Accept until Balls to the Wall. Great Album great show!
Great episode. Scorpions for me.
Love both albums, but "Blackout" was my introduction to Scorpions and, like Butch, it's my second favorite Scorps album behind "Lovedrive." "China White" ranks alongside "Animal Magnetism" (title track) as the two heaviest Scorpions songs.
I love both of them but the accept album was more influential for me
Restless and Wild: 9/10...Blackout 8,5/10.......Amazing,fun and interesting show.Thanks.😀👍🙏🙏Balls to the Wall = 1983.
Top Scorpions ballads show yes?
Totally different albums! Both win!!
This is a hard choice. Both albums are killer, and they are both possibly among each bands' best albums.
It's great to have ALL the best HVS on!!!! I'm not an 80s Scorpions fan & I pick Accept.
Blackout my favorite scorpions album , so i go with it. i have both these on vinyl
Accept - Restless & Wild for me, l have to go with which album has stayed in my rotation more, R&W is a perfect album. Fast as a Shark, Demon's Night, Don't go Stealing my Soul Away & so on. Not one filler song on the entire album.
For me it's the "Scorpions" but the margin is tenuous...
Thanks, everybody! Great show!
Pete , I had the exact same experience with the Accept album. My buddy Pete bought the album we put it on the player in his basement. It starts out and we both looked at each other like What the fuck is this. Then the scream hits and we were like holy shit ,listen to this shit. WOW !
Both Albums are phenomanal.
But "Blackout" did more for me.
I love that Album and it brought me to the Roth-Era.
Gotta pick Restless and Wild, though I do love Blackout a lot
Blackout is my favorite Scorpions album.
OK, I'm backing up a little. I'm 27 minutes into this video now and it's still pretty entertaining. :)
