    Wow...what an immersion experience! His diction was flawless and the range of emotion using body and voice was such that it didn't really matter that I don't speak his language. His ability to go in and out of hammer vibrato so smoothly was impressive. Thanks for the introduction. I will definitely be listening to more music by him. P.S. His starting note is one octave above the last intro note.

    As much as I love language, most of my favorite performances are in foreign languages. I feel like sometimes words/lyrics can get in the way - when you don't understand them it essentially removes a layer and opens you up fully to the emotions and raw ideas the singer is trying to present.

    Atif is renowned for his versatility as a singer, but his forays into R&B (Sajan Das Na), as well as some pop and a bit of rap (Go) in Coke Studio Season 14 were still a bit of a surprise. Kudos to him for continuing to push the envelope, and his willingness to collaborate with a newer generation of Pakistani artists.
    CS S14 is definitely worth checking out in its entirety. Groundbreaking in so many ways and including some standout vocal performances (Tu Jhoom, Beparwah and Thagyan).

    "Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Dha Ni Sa" are the solfège syllables (sargam) used in Indian classical music, representing the notes of a scale.
    "Rhythm" in Indian classical music is referred to as "Tala", which is the cycle of beats that structures a musical composition.

  • @007Pakiboyz
    @007Pakiboyz 2 года назад +7

    I like watching your reactions.
    The sound "Rrrrrrrr" is no word it's just an extension of the Urdu alphabet "Ray" or "R" in English.
    Jitney khali hain sab jaam bhar(rrrrr) jayengy...bhar means fill....(All of the empty glasses would fill)
    Like in English somebody is singing " We will meet later" and to keep the rhythm in the song he just extends the "R" and sings "laterrrrrrrr".
    My English is not so strong but hopefully, you would understand what I mean.

    Loved your reaction to Atif Aslam. Also the point about Atif keeping the notes in front of him. It is for just this song because the song's lyrics are not in Urdu or Punjabi. They are in Persian (farsi) which an average Pakistani or someone really educated in old Urdu won't be able to remember or understand too. So even though he must have had it memorized but just in case the lyrics notes were kept in the front to avoid any mistakes as the song is about Prophet Muhammad SAW and their shouldn't be any mistake.

    He is a legend and always sounds flawless and makes it look easy. You should also react to songs from Coke Studio 14 latest season with each song having seerate music and yes like all CS sessions it is also recorded live in the same take as the video we see and always shot in one take. I would suggest you listen to "Tu Jhoom" by legendary female singers of Pakistan Abida and Naseebo and also listen to "Phir Milenge" by veteran singer Faisal Kabadia who just concluded his band Strings which also produced CS S07-S11 including this song of Atif and he came back for this song to sing as solo artist with young artists new CS14 roducers song he wrote only for his voice. And ofcourse there is Atif Aslam song from CS14 titles "Go" with young artist and up and coming talented music producerr Abdullah Sidique.

    Hi Ken. This song was originally a qawwali sung by famous qawwals- the Sabri Brothers. The lead was sadly assassinated in a brutal terrorist attack. I’m fairly certain the “back up singers” (doesn’t do them justice) are from the Sabri family.
    The song is mostly Urdu but the diminuendo is sung in three languages: Urdu, Persian, Arabic.

    Greetings Ken.
    That 'rrrr' sound emerges when any word in singing ends in the alphabet 'ray' which I think is the 14th alphabet in urdu language. One needs to continue the sound of 'ray' otherwise it will break the rythem.
