  • Howdy Everyone!
Triumph very kindly lent my good friend Ruby a Speed Triple RS and myself an RR in order to do some filming together, some swapping of the bikes and finally... sharing our thoughts and opinions on the two!
We had that much fun, I've had to split it into 2 parts!
    Here is Part 2!
I hope you enjoy the vlog!

What an awesome vlog! It makes for more interesting viewing when you have another female rider out for the day with you, I found, Ruby to be knowledgeable and an experienced rider, like yourself. Totally enjoyed the tour, as always. 👍🤙🤩

If I was able to do another bike, it would probable be a Royal Enfield Himalayan or a Honda 300 Rally. Will probable need a lighter bike to pick up in the future.

The suspension on my ST-R was hard, but I found it was the rebound that had to be dialled back rather than the compression. Great banter UNK & RR, I think my pick would be the RS too, just for the posture. You can fit the mini-windscreen visor and it reduces the wind a little bit anyway.

Another great video - footage and editing is definitely on the up 😀👍
On the RR finding neutral - I found the same but was told the indicator "jumps" to the gear but it is in neutral (quite easily). Next time you're looking for neutral, just wait (maybe count to 3), and the gear indicator should just change from 1 (or 2) into N. If you keep moving the pedal up/down the display wont show catch up to you "N".
Also, on the suspension - I recently adjusted my 1050 RS to a comfort setting (in the book, easily changed) and it made a great difference - so you should still be able to get the same comfort on the 1200 RS as the RR. I guess you could get even finer tuning with the RS if its manually adjusted, rather than just the 3 pre-settings of the RR?

Another incredible vlog Kate. I feel your pain with the neutral! ARRGH! Had mine since early Feb & its got worse as the km have built up. I have a 1994 Daytona Super 3 which slips in to neutral so easily, you wonder how nearly 30 years on Triumph cant build a bike that goes in to Neutral without a 5 min tap dance! I know what your saying about the neck issues, you have to constantly crick your neck back & during the slow speed stuff mine is also in bits! Your number 1 fan in Australia!

With the low bars you have more weight over the front wheel so more feel. I found with low bxars and that type of fairing its not comfortable especially on the neck especially above 50mph when if you sit up the wind hits you and it strains the neck muscles. Yes the superveloce is similar and i love the small back light and round headlights. A lot of bike for the money and worth it for the top spec with the best out there. Just my opinion. Great to see 2 ladies enjoying riding sports bikes relaxed. Very much how i ride but when i was young they didnt have the qualigty and great design, handling and rider aids and great tyres and brakes.

Sorry to hear about the neck. I suggest a meeting with a physical therapist for strengthening exercises and maybe to adopt a dynamic warmup before riding? I took up the rowing machine 3x per week for about 10 minutes each session when I was about 45 years of age - HUGE difference in my back and neck strength and comfort! I'm fitter now in general with regard to my spine than I ever was. There are also a few things you can do with motorcycle fit. Also, I wear a scarf or neck gaiter EVERY ride to provide heat and to avoid bug strikes. Just some thoughts and thanks from the Pacific Northwest of the USA for the review.

I've not tried either Speed Triple, but I know when me & my mate swapped bikes on a ride, so he had my nice sit-up-and-beg Bandit, and I tried his CBR, I was in agony from riding in-town after 30 minutes! Great on the motorway, but as soon as I had to bring my head up, my neck & back were screaming to change back.

Perhaps you can find out about the suspension adjustment on the RS and do a short vid doing a circuit 3 times with 3 changes and confirm it's able to be sorted, like where you noticed it felt rough, go back over that. The issue is putting me off a bit unless I know the solution is merely an adjustment, or perhaps cant be adjusted out.

The RR just ouses pain to me, so don’t be afraid to say what you feel. Most people that think it would automatically discount that type of bike, but can still appreciate what it is like to ride especially with such a good synopsis from those who have ridden it.
    Nice choice of roads btw.

The bucking around and out of the seat action is ace, love mine being as stiff as it is, ooooft a b6255 b6479 or even a b6270 run for rubes when she’s further up north, full b6270 would defo be an experience 😂, oh man I’m thinking further afield now a686 b6277 b6276 b6259

Even with cervical myelopathy, I could ride the RR, due to having ape-like arms, but that reluctance to find neutral would soon get on my wick. The last bike I rode with that issue was a 1968 ex police BSA 250cc thumper with a dragging clutch. Acceptable for a £70 riding test mule but not at this money.

    Ruby in attack mode !
I find the S1000RR easier/more comfortable than the 765RS, which has to harsh a suspension the 765R is probably better suited for the road. Although I'm probably both your ages combined (45) and not as flexible as I used to be.
My GSA has a custom suspension (built for Pooh Bear shape) which made a massive difference, although the K1300R is fun too.

I have the 2019 Speed 1050RS and Ill be taking the rear shock for a new set shims for the compression side, just as a point ( bit geeky) as you say the comfort level on the RR is better but on a technical level I think Triumph have let themselves down with the suspension given its a naked ROAD bike and its set up for a smooth track!, like any Bike the wheels need to be in touch with the ground at all times for the best traction and that is down the the set up.
Love the look, power and road handling of my bike but Ill be doing my best to soften that rear up then it like you said would be perfect!

Just bought the RR last week and you’re right it hates Neutral and sometimes gets stuck on a gear. It won’t shift up or down. It’s been in the shop for the second time and can’t find a solution. For a 21k (USA) bike this shouldn’t even be a problem.. 😢 I still love the bike but kinda regret buying it.

You need to put some miles on it, do a oil filter and oil change on it. Im sure as it runs in a loosens up, by 10000 miles and a main service you will then see the bfest of the nbike, gearbox and potential matey. Enjoy it zand ride it like you stole it but in wet mode. It must bee a real handful in sports mode. I had a daytona 900 years ago and the gearbox was not like a jap bike however these days they are so refined in comparison. Beautiful machines. And very light in wet mode, under 200kg is. Nothing and good for ladies,

The RR is so expensive I doubt it'll make its way to Indian shores because its on order only. They're struggling to sell the 1200rs, and even the previous gen speed triple didn't find many takers here. But oh I so want to play with that electronic ohlins 😂

Great video, I’ve got the RS, you’re right suspension is stupidly hard, and the bike does buckaroo you out of the seat just before composing yourself for a corner.

for your riding style you'd find it more rewarding riding a street triple, lighter and more agile (not to say you can't handle this bike so don't misunderstand the comment, as you certainly can handle it) you'd enjoy the triple more though :)
