    I already own the DJI Air 2S so I went with the nano to bring diversity to my drone collection. I also wanted the ability to fly with no restrictions, which the DJI mini is not able to do. I got my nano from RCGOING based on Captain Drone’s review in Aug of 2022. That was a good deal, thanks Captain. The mini 3 or nano will exceed the photography and video requirements of most users. Even if you gave your friends the original files from your drone they don’t have monitors to view the high resolution. Seems most people are happy with there smart phone screens and 1080p monitors. 🤦🏻‍♂️ Thanks for the review Captain!

    4, 5, and 6. I thank you again for all the work you put into this comparison. I have the Mini 2 and the Mini 3 Pro and my marriage probably could not withstand the addition of a Nano +. So I will fly what I have. The big thing I like about the M3P is its RC controller-it has made flying so much easier and fun. Cheers from Wisconsin, Captain Drone.

    A drone buddy in Melbourne owns both drones, and in his opinion the nano+ camera is superior to the mini 3 camera. .
    He said in low light the difference between the 2 drones is quite significant.
    Shadows get crushed with the mini 3 in low light, whereas the nano+ still provides great flexibility for post editing low light imagery. The mini 3 doesn’t obtain the same amount of light as the Nano+ in low light. His words, not mine.
    Comparing his videos of each drone it is very easy to see the difference in low light.
    I own the nano+ only but can validate what he says about how good the Nano+ imagery is to edit. It certainly has very good dynamic range coming from its camera.
    If you take 12mp raw images from both drones to compare, you will be able to get a better idea of the differences.
    BTW sharp images can easily be resolved in post editing.
    But the Mini 3 has more all round capability than the Nano+

    I bought a Nano+ a few weeks ago, based mostly on the strength of the still camera (gauged from one of your earlier reviews), the lack of geofencing, and my experience with the Evo 1. I tried the 50Mp mode and compared it to a shot in 12Mp mode from the same spot. They were very close, but the 12Mp shot seemed to have just the barest amount more clarity than the JPG, plus giving me a RAW file as well. I see no point in using the 50Mp mode if it doesn't offer greater detail and clarity. My first drone was a Mini 1, which I knew would be the learning experience and I wasn't fully pleased with the camera in less than perfect conditions. Then I got the Evo 1, which I love, but it was too big for my needs. (I ride a bicycle and travel a lot for work, so portability is important) I think this Nano will get a lot of usage.

      I should mention that there is next to no difference between the DJI Mini 3 Pro 12 megapixel and the 48 megapixel, which tells me DJI is using a 12 megapixel sensor and dividing the pixels into 4. Using a 12 megapixel photo on either the mini 3 or Nano+ gives the best results.

    • @YoSpiff
      @YoSpiff 2 года назад

      @@Matanumi It seems to do ok in the wind. I had an opportunity a few weeks ago to fly it off a skyscraper over Millennium Park in Chicago. Almost gave my friend a haircut while taking off, but once airborne, it did fine. I didn't take it as far as I would have liked as I was a little paranoid flying in the "Windy City". It might be better in the wind than my Evo 1, which I crashed up into a bridge 2 weeks after getting it (updraft under the bridge). Flight characteristics seem similar to the Mavic Mini 1 that I recently sold. Haven't tried the Panorama mode yet.

    There is a HUGE difference between the DJI Mini 3 Footage vs the Nano+, in fact the Nano+ footage looks better in dynamic range in luma, chroma and definition, if you watch in a 4K and 8k television you can see how better the Nano+ produce the video. DJI uses cheap lens and Autel away better lens. and by combining the RYYB filters it will produce better video in all areas from chroma, luma and definition. You are buying a flying camera and everything else is secondary. When I show some of the best Mavic 3 Cine video from RUclips vs the Nano+ footage in public everyone was saying the same, thing, the Nano+ was away better than the Mavic 3 Cine videos. So, if an over $5000.00 dollars drone does not film better than the Nano+, what do you think the Mini 3 is against the Nano+? But don't take my words for it, watch this video in a 4k or 8k television: ruclips.net/video/WWdROenBDjQ/видео.html and than any Mavic 3 cine video. You will see that the Nano+ produces better video. And this is not an opinion.

    Great comparison! I live in the great state of Texas, with a bit higher temps than Canada.... do you think that this would be a significant issue for the DJI? I really feel that the cameras are nearly the same, but the function in wind, speed, and tracking is better with the DJI.... Temperature may be my biggest issue....maybe?? What do you think?

    • @CAPTAINDRONE798
      @CAPTAINDRONE798  Год назад +1

      As long as it does not get really hot outside and the DJI drone is not ventillated. If that happens, it will shut down. So don't let it get hot in your car or in direct sunlight before you fly.

      Something pointed out by another reviewer when it comes to DJI and Autel camera drones is the saturation and clarity can be somewhat subjective. In Davinci Resolve it's easy to add or subtract saturation to get the desired look. I tend to stay away from 'sharpening'.

    • @InteractiveDNA

      Not possible because the DJI by default has more red on all channels. Meaning that if you add blue to a DJI drone footage they will look like the Autel color science. That is how you color grade an Autel footage to look like a DJI! You add Orange 🍊 to it. Like he said, your device may not be calibrated or the colors are way off. But don’t take my words for it, just screen capture any DJI and Autel automatic footages from camera and you will see that ALL DJI drones have red on all channels by default. That’s why you should always film a color chart in Gray, Not white to color correct the DJI footage so they look natural, same goes to Autel. Never film anything without filming a gray card.

      @@driewiel The drone is orange. But the colors are less orange than the DJI footage. What you are seeing is more dynamic in colors that all DJI drones lacks. Remember to never trust your eyes, look at the color parades/wave form or just take a screen capture of ANY DJI footage that has not color corrected. You will see for instance that the RGB has red in all colors, meaning that that they produce a warmer colors. Your device may not be calibrated too. Remember that colors are an illusion done by the software, they do not exist, that’s why devices have color spaces so many devices can look the same in different platforms, but not all platforms have the color space right. That’s why if you ever buy a TV or monitor calibrated them.
      Here is a tip: You can turn the Nano+ to look like the Mavic 3 Cine color but better, but you can not turn the Mavic 3 Cine to look like the Nano+ colors because it lacks the dynamic range in luma, chroma and definition. Think as a print file, the Nano+ is 300DPI and the Mavic 3 Cine is a 72DPI, you can not create missing information from a 72DPI to look like a 300DPI. The 300DPI image has more definition and data.

    After watching your videos comparing the DJI Mini 3 Pro and the Autel EVO Nano+, I think I would prefer the DJI. However, due to current U.S. legislation and the effort Autel is committing to try to get on the Pentagon's Blue sUAS Program, I'm starting to think it may be a better tactical decision to purchase Autel over DJI. I own the original Mavic Pro and it pains me to think that I may not be able to legally fly it (recreationally) if recently introduced legislation passes. Autel may be the better choice going forward due to the political landscape (which of course, saddens me).

    For me I have to look at the compatibility of each drone with professional software like Dronedeploy, Dronelink, Litchi, these software's does not just expand the capabilities of each drone, but may have a a MAJOR influence in your purchase decision.
    For example Litchi allows the MINI 3 Pro to fly WITHOUT GEO FENCING. each of these software require the drone manufacturer to release a SDK kit the historic speed of the release of the SDK kits is of extreme importance. Currently it is taking about a YEAR or so after the drone is released before the SDK kit is released by the drone manufacturer. This is too long by most peoples standards.

      Nikita, I think you have spent too much time on forums listening to people repeating stuff they really know little about. The 10 bit in the Mini 3 has no relevance because you are starting with a tiny sensor, fixed aperture, minimal ISO and plastic lens, so you can't make gold & diamonds out of mud no matter how hard you try. If these were quality cameras in the professional world, with interchangeable lenses, then 10 bit over 8 bit would make a big difference.

    Absolutely gobsmacked at where the technology has gone in a very few years. Now anyone can put something in the air and get good results.

Not sure why you believe you have judged me to be someone lacking in the ability to review drones. Also the "red drone" is called the AUTEL NANO+ and it is suprisingly ORANGE in color. If the device you are viewing videos on is showing ORANGE, then you fall in the catagory I mentioned half way through the video and thus any opinion you have is based on what your device is showing you, hence MY OPINION counts as I have the original.
