He couldn't see the execution of it due to the wings of the Tie and the hands. Btw it seemed there were plays all over this game that looked almost like throws just to show off particular interactions that can happen especially in the Academy versus Blue segment.
Ok I am sold now on 2.0 after not only watching this new format but the fact the game seemed to flow a little nicer. I like that Luke really shook things up vs. 2 named ties and this is really going to shake up the tournament scene.
Just an FYI, It looks like the barrel roll at 34:40 did not conform to the 2.0 rules- the front of the ship needs to align with the edge of the template, not the middle line.
@@MrPeter13th the template is half the width of the base of the ship so it is actually the same, but technically you are correct, on a medium or large base the barrel roll would have been done incorrectly
If only Alex had been playing more cleanly/correctly... He's even still using 1.0 terminology like "pilot skill" and "target" locks, which is really grating.
I honestly told myself I can’t be arsed with 2.0. I don’t play the game enough to justify messing about with upgrade kits and re-buying stuff. But damn, this looks cool.
could have used elusive again at the end there, not that it mattered. great match, you two are a great pair to watch, and I'm glad to see the empire come out victorious :)
I was a bit worried about my 7 yo son and the 14+ rating, however he took to the game's phases and movement process quickly and we had a fantastic time playing this game. Can't wait to get some expansions!
My 5yo son played a game with me against my daughter. Since everything is done by templates and symbols with very few reading involved, it went very well.
This is the game mode that got me to buy into 2nd edition. I love that FFG made escalation pdfs for each of the factions as I found trying to create squads with so much content available to be overwhelming. I'm surprised there isn't more escalation content on RUclips in general. Maybe with the changing of the guard, perhaps we will see this game mode gets its day in the sun...or stars so to speak.
I'm in the process of converting to second edition. what did you mean by changing of the guard? are they putting new designers and developers on the team?
I've got the First Edition core set for this game..this Second edition really does improve on it quite a bit and with the new Escalation format this would be a good way to get some of my friends into the game on my table top game nights I put together..I'll have to see if a local tabletop store I just found out about has this when I get a chance..I have sadly very few of those stores so most of my tabletop purchases have to come from online so I'm hoping this one has it.
People vastly undervalue the dodge action on Tie Fighters. Knowing you can out damage the X-Wing you can dodge to be guaranteed to miss at least 1 damage.
This is a tutorial for beginners. Play the basic rules if your not ready for advanced rules. In the beginning, the list links to their website that list out the steps. They are playing with the core starter set.
I seen people in comments talking about how some ships specifically TIEs don’t have hyperdrives the map looks like the Death Star it is possible they could have left a hanger and went there or came out of a trench so just pretend that’s what is happening or it is a ship that just came from that direction
I am a new player and just bought the core set. I read all the comments to see if quick building was covered. I watched the video, you talked about quick building but did I miss how many points your playing? Was this game a threat building of 8? Also if you had two core packs, or enough ships, would you start the game with all ships on the table?
Am I correct inferring that this game (shown in the video) could not be played with a single core set box? Both pilots (Valen Rudor and Iden Versio) are using a shield upgrade at the same time. Though only one of these shield upgrade cards is provided in the core set.
great video, really useful. Just a question, which kind of software you use to show the ships situation on the screen? thanks so much if you whanto to answer me. see next video
I like the new format its really neat. Also did you perchance ask Alex why the 2.0 tokens for the TIE Reaper and Saw's Renegades were not included in the packs even though they are "fully" 2.0 compatible?
I'm assuming it's because there should be plenty of 2.0 tokens from the core set and maybe 1-2 2.0 expansion packs. I'm sure they just left out the 2.0 tokens because they were already including double the stuff. It kind of sucks since I don't have any 2.0 tokens yet, but I wouldn't mind if expansion packs had less tokens in them. I'm drowning in 1.0 tokens.
Pedro Lobo bring on wave 2! They'll keep introducing new ships that will likely have tokens. Plus using 1.0 tokens will suffice for a while. I'm not concerned.
lefty8957 yeah but thats the same like say, I'm ok with receiving those new wave14 2.0 cards with errata alredy, they are charging every penny for that cardboard, We deserve to receive a good product
What is the time frame represented by 1 turn? I did some math based on size of small base and the x-wing length of 12.5 meters from wookipedia and it seems to be about a 10th of a second. Wondering if there was an official time frame.
Daniel Wochnick *S-Foils Tingling* Im hyped for the game. A lot of good changes despite the chaos for the conversions. I understand the old players, seems kinda rough for them. Im getting started on the game and got the original core and now im waiting trying not to spend money on ships so i can get the 2nd edition and buy the expansions slowly.
Amazing game and amazing explenation. Just a question. Which kind of program or similar you used to track the ships stat durimg the game? Thanks for answer. Ciao.
hello Team Covenant ; so nothing usable as "help tool" in real-time play. thanks. (think about an app in this terms if you can) Sorry the question OT. what about the missions which was contained in the 1st edition in the secoind one? thanks for answer and time you spend for me. again good job.
Not every charge naturally recharges! It only recharges if there is a little triangle next to it. You can find an example on Luke's card: xwing-miniatures-second-edition.wikia.com/wiki/Luke_Skywalker_(Gunner)
Any idea where I can find the rules for point buy system in this gamemode in 2nd edition? I get the use of the quick builds for balancing purposes, but I want to use more of my ships, Scum Y-wings, B-wings, YT-1300, etc. Since most things are just double the points of 1st edition, should I just modify the rules from 1st edition Escalation to start with round 1: 120, round 2: 180, round 3: 240, and round 4: 300? Using the same rules, just adjusting the points to 2.0 standards?
Thx a lot! Just wondering that FFG finally realized after 6 years that you can't play X-Wing with 3 red and 3 green ;) - even the Core Set Stuff would need 5 green and 4 red.
They really should demo it on the classic star field play mat. something they sell ; ) too many people have asked about this crazy looking one. It makes it look like the laser cannon towers are part of the game. Not easy on the eyes either. If anything make it less contrasty with the gray that in those dark areas. other than that... lol MTFBWY
No. Your companies greed killed this game for me, AND any future buisiness with you. I spent $3,000.00 on X-wing, then suddenly it was worthless, unless I wanted to buy another $600.00 worth of your "conversion kits". So, no, never again.
that Iden barrel roll at 34:40 🤔
Taylor Seidlitz i think that’s not the correct execution of a Barrel Roll
That is the shadiest barrel roll ever executed.
I mean, both parties agreed so it's fine right
Umm... yeah. Why didn't Alex correct him?
He couldn't see the execution of it due to the wings of the Tie and the hands. Btw it seemed there were plays all over this game that looked almost like throws just to show off particular interactions that can happen especially in the Academy versus Blue segment.
So happy to find a video with gameplay that’s reasonably paced while still explaining stuff for beginners. Thank you!
Love the overlay, the cards that pop up, and the zoomed in shots showing how to barrel roll. Looks like a lot of effort!
Thank you for the kind words Lefty!
Ok I am sold now on 2.0 after not only watching this new format but the fact the game seemed to flow a little nicer. I like that Luke really shook things up vs. 2 named ties and this is really going to shake up the tournament scene.
The game really does play a lot smoother!
as a tabletop fan who is entirely new to xwing i gotta say well done and thank you!
very entertaining and informative

Nikki Barry yeah that one ended on a invalid position
@@MrPeter13th the template is half the width of the base of the ship so it is actually the same, but technically you are correct, on a medium or large base the barrel roll would have been done incorrectly
Ah yes, I see the green dice are still cold as ice in 2.0. Great video!
It is nice to see that they did not change everything! Thanks!
Amazing production value and editing. My complements to the editor.
HolySorcerer yeah I like alot those panels and all effects done to the cards n' tokens
If only Alex had been playing more cleanly/correctly... He's even still using 1.0 terminology like "pilot skill" and "target" locks, which is really grating.
You have to remember that as a dev he has a dozen or more versions of the rules in his head.

I really love that gaming mat. The escalation scenario is a great idea.
It was a lot of fun, even though it was just three ships on the table. We are glad they are adding content to the core set!
christ, i forgot how much i hated playing against Luke and R2 way back in the day. good job bringing it back, the theme is strong with this one

that surface looks so uncomfortable to play on.... otherwise great video, very informative. keep it up. cant wait for second edition
It is just a demo mat that FFG uses in their studio. No changes to actual legal play surfaces at all.
The barrel roll at 34:50 is wrong, isn’t it?

any news about EPIC ships in 2.0?
Well done video. Thanks for helping me learn the game
helped me a lot explaining the basics
R2-D2 must have taken a hit or something. He clearly was neglecting his duty. If any of my circuits or gears would help I would gladly donate them.
Where was R2D2 on Luke? He could have recharged shields on Luke when he wasnt going to have shots
That's what I was thinking every time that happened.
Hi there, Why they made XW Secon Edition ??? And what's the big diference between First Edition and Second Edition ???
Does the 2.0 core set co.e with a squad builder app?
I am a new player and just bought the core set.

Where can I find myself a dope playing board like that?
Where did you get the cool mat from or is it custom made
I loved the play through and how exciting it was even with just the Core Set. I'm glad that I am getting back into playing 2.0
That is great to hear! Thank you.

This was played with only one core set.
Both pilots have shield upgrade, you just need to track each pilot separately for shield.

How many I'D and Lock tokens are there in the Core Set? I've only counted 6 -so no 8 TIE swarms at 12 pts anymore
On the 1st target lock from the X Wing to the Tie, is there a reason he used “5” as the identifier or does it matter?
It doesn't matter, its so you know which model has the lock on you.
Where did u get your play mat it is Awsome
Thanks Raven! That is FFG's demo mat. As far as we have seen, it is not for sale anywhere!
Late to the party, but I own a Gale Force Nine two-sided playmat that has similar but less bright artwork, with a starfield on the flipside.

Luke should be at least 4 Threat by the looks of it. 😬 The Force is strong with this one!
Luke is a beast!
Threat levels look like a translation of approximate points. So that Luke is probably around 75ish points
Tis was great please do more!
Thank you Louis!
Neat looking playboard, but the 3d of it really fucks up rolling. Cocked dice all over the place that they are not re-rolling or balance testing.
How much more gameplay do you guys have?!?!?!?

You need to get the FFG app.
Is the mat that you played on available for sale?
I think that its just a demo mat that FFG has for events.
Unfortunately FFG keeps that to themselves for short game demos. It is not for sale that we have seen!
You can spawn out of either hyperspace point in escalation, right?
So new Core Set has 4 red and 4 green dice? Or just a wrong information?
We are trying to get a sure word on this Timo, we do not know.

Zach is tied 1 - 1 vs. Alex in these X-wing 2.0 demo games. Will we see the "rubber game" at GenCon? 😀
Maybe!
TIE Fighters don't have hyperdrives! ARGH! My immersion!
Just think of it as one entering the battle area from above, coming from another part of the big epic battle going on.
Or, looking at the scenery, launched from death star.
Hi guys
OP force finally
He rolled a fourth attack die at range 1 while his a foils were closed >:(
This was recorded very early during 2.0, we were still learning the rules.
that table looks like the worst for playing x-wing on...
Just as the Empire designed it to be!
is it made out of Lego or just some random greeble?
ValhallasChosen It was a plastic, or maybe a resin. It is actually four rigid pieces.
