I just don’t get it. How is it not career endingly embarrassing that someone should quote scripture in a political forum, let alone using that scripture to justify policy?! This is a country who’s founding fathers made a concerted effort to separate church and state. They were trying to move away from the old European practice of suggesting monarchies were imbued with Devine investiture. Yet American politics in the 21st Century has ended up more like Iran and Europe!
