I've been watching your videos for 8 years now, and I can proudly say that between that time period I went from a college student living alone who didn't know how to boil an egg to the head chef of my household! Me and my wife owe you many, many thanks, Chef John! ❤
Chef John has made me a hero at more occasions than I can remember. I always give him the credit. Go to party dish: his buffalo chicken dip is outrageous. Go to fast family meal: avgolemono. Kids love it, I’ve got it memorized. It is tied with chicken piccata. Favorite dinner party recipe: pork saltimbocca. So impressive and delicious. Favorite thanksgiving side: sweet potato casserole with pistachio crumble. Favorite dessert: sour cream chocolate cake with orange créme anglaise. Favorite beverage: hot buttered rum. Favorite pasta: The one with garlic, aglio olio? Favorite one pot meal: pollo y arroz. Thanks for all the puns and fun and food, Chef. You should go down in history as a man who shaped a generation of home cooks.
Chef John is that guy you invite to the party and he is THE most anticipated guest...EVER. Thanks so much for the amazing content that never fails to deliver. Over the years, your recipes have been practiced, modified, critiqued, but it's never enough because no more accolades are necessary. It just precedes itself because it's made by Chef John.
"By the way all of these ingredient amounts are to taste, so if you don't like the way it tastes it's basically your fault." Love that Chef John humor!
I’ve never heard of Chef John and this video started playing after I was watching something else. That exact line caught my attention and I was hooked. I can’t believe I’ve gone so long without knowing Chef John. What a treasure!
Man, what a trip 😍 I think I found you somewhere around maybe 2008-ish, at the same time I was introduced to Michael Pollan and the omnivores dilemma, and practically everything that I am now proud to make as an adult came from you. One of my most vivid food memories was early on learning how to make roasted lamb shanks in a baking dish with tons of layers of foil sealing it all in, with rosemary and garlic, and then combining jam and red wine for a sauce. Your lamb shanks were the first “fancy“ food I ever learned to make, and I’ve used that same idea for a decade and a half now to make country ribs, pork, lamb, everything. You taught me all the basics like mashed potatoes and a good macaroni and cheese, and you turned exotic seeming recipes into some of my most favorite regular comfort foods. And I’m pretty sure that you’re the only cooking person in the entire world that ever explained to me that garlic turned bitter when it got too brown. I’d previously ruined a number of dishes without ever knowing why, and after learning it from you, I never ever trusted any other chef or celebrity that told me to brown garlic, unless they made a point to explain not take it too far 😆 You literally changed my entire food life, starting in my early 20s, and everything you taught me has carried through all the way to today. In my world, you were my Julia child, and I will forever be thankful for you ☺️
Holy cow… I went back to look, and “sloooo-ooo-ooo-ooo-ooow roasted lamb shanks with rosemary and garlic” was like your 20th video ever 😆🤩🤩🤩 I can’t believe it’s been so long, and that your voice still sounds as amazing today as it did almost a decade and a half ago. I heart you, chef John! You will always be my one true original forever food love ☺️
His style of videos make all the recipes seem really attainable as well. I had very limited cooking experience until 6 or 7 years ago, but his videos inspired me to try recipes I would have never attempted myself. I love how many of his videos offer a great base for a recipe with ways to expand on it/make it your own. I highly recommend Alton Brown or Adam Ragusea as other chefs that go more into the why of food rather that just the how.
I just LOVE YOU Chef!!!! I love your attitude and personality and your sense of humor!!!! You have "IT"!!!!! Thank You for ALL of your sharing and caring ❤❤❤😊😊😊
Been watching chef John since the beginning. I actually get emotional thinking about it. I couldn't cook at all in 2008 but John made it easy and fun. 2 children later, a wife, and they are always impressed with your recipes.
I agree with you!👍He sure has become a staple in our homes and on our moble phones! When it comes to cooking, Chef John's got it down with a touch of gourmet, traditional and home style!!! I love his style, and he makes it fun!!

I remember making this scotch egg recipe in 2015 when the video came out. I wasnt much of a cook back then and decided to try this out on a week night. Started like at 6pm and i didn't get anything on the plate till about 8pm due to technical difficulties. Chef John made it look easy, but this recipe is quite difficullt to pull off. Not gonna lie, it totally tastes like Breakfast; sausage and eggs type deal. Chef John, it's been 7 years since we first met; me and my wife love replicating your videos in our kitchen ! Thanks

As a lover of ancient history I encouraged my runner husband to go Greek. He ran the oldest modern marathon in Athens. I fell in love with Greek food! It is delicious!

Chef John’s videos taught me how to cook more Western foods from when I was a first year at uni 10+ years ago. Now, I’m in my thirties and still use his videos! 🥰
I don't know how survived this long without knowing this channel. For someone who LOVES cooking, I'm quite ashamed of myself. This playlist is just gold. Thank you so much Chef John!!
I've followed Chef John since 2008 and there's something very comforting about him sticking to his original format while still keeping it fresh with his sass and humor. Add to that his skills, knowledge and curiosity that inspires time and time again. In my opinion, the best teachers are transparent about potential mistakes and why they happen, yet they still motivate you to try, and that's why I consider Chef John the true OG of RUclips cooking channels.
I dozed off watching this while lying in bed and discovered Chef John has a very soothing voice to fall asleep too. Much better than CNN. Also, you're my favorite chef for the 10th year now. I always check in with you when considering recipes. Happy new year!
Every single recipe I've ever cooked from this channel--about thirty--turned out from good to great. Chef John is a great teacher who isn't afraid to show us his mistakes and how he fixes them.
I want to feel things are okay and nothing bad is happening in the world, so i need to hear Chf John, even though I have watched this before. Thank you
Holy crud I am enjoying the heck out of this marathon! It’s basically the same as my usual day, except with a count down. What an amazing legacy you’ve left. So glad that you became THE Chef John of getting our cooking game on. Fork don’t lie, you are a national treasure. I personally have watched everyone of these videos several dozen times each! Happy 2022-what are YOUR food wishes for us this year, Chef?
I put a reminder on. In these stressful times I find cooking along with Chef John to be very helpful. Then, I share what I make with neighbors and friends. I made 16 Panettone and numerous salted caramel custards. We even made the Yule Log last minute on Christmas Eve. It was lovely and a hit. Your recipes and instructions make it easy to succeed. Your humor is helpful too. God bless you.
I’m from Tampa and my Cuban neighbors used to make bollitos. They are made similarly to falafel using black eyed peas. The seasoning is salt, garlic, onions, green peppers and cumin. Delicious.
I like exploring the internet for recipes and not just relying on one person, but Chef John has never let me down. Love what you come up with Chef and thank you for sharing the magic with us!
Happy new year to everyone. I'm greek and grew up in the greek taverna of my parents and my "work" was to make the tzatziki for the day (i mean like 30 kilos every day). You are very near the traditional recipe, but I want to add it here: Cucumber, garlic, greek strained yogurt, olive oil, vinegar and NOT lemon, salt, peper, origanon, mix and after 12 hours in the fridge is the best. Thank you for sharing your beautiful recipes. Health and happiness to everyone
I grew up with vinegar in the tabbouleh and tzatiki! My aunt always used apple cider or rice wine vinegar in tabbouleh. But white vinegar for tzatziki. Peace
Hello from Hong Kong. Made this cake yesterday and left it overnight. The next day we had it. It is hands down one of the best carrot cakes. I made a lemon cheese frosting. Thanks chef John. BTW, we've tried a lot of your recipes. All delicious. 😊🙏
I had a friend whose daughter married an Indian man back in 2015. His parents provided dinner for our group the night of the rehearsal. I can remember peeling and slicing lots of cucumbers for a dip for the highly seasoned (hot to some of us) meat dish. I do enjoy this when I eat at Greek restaurants. Thank you for sharing and letting me have a good memory. I can remember some of the other family members coming to our table to thank them for the delicious meal and making a comment on the spicy meat. They had not realized that the cucumber dip helped to "cool it down."
I usually give a sassy "Chef John!" when he gives a bad pun or adds a surprise ingredient. But when he alluded to a more, "oregano" filled past, he got the most sassy "Chef John" of all 😂
Thank you John. Even my non-cooking friends enjoy watching you. An amasing success story - I feel that your success is largely due to your attitude of keeping things simple and straightforward so that anyone can feel they might be able to do it themselves. You encourage them to try. I have an expression; 'If you want to be healthy you need to cook.' Processed foods contain too many additives and harmful ingredients such as high fructose corn syrup (HFCS). Your videos are a delight to watch. Love your humour. Thank you from me in Scotland.
Chef John I have to admit something. I have watched all your videos mainly for the entertainment factor. I do cook a lot of your recipes and have learned an enormous amount by your techniques and numerous helpful tips. But truly what I enjoy the most is the entertainment. You crack me up and have taken the stuffiness out of skilled cooking. I look forward to every new video you post because I know I will have a smile on my face and a chuckle in my heart when you're done. You are a master in the kitchen, but a true entertainer on video. Thank you and have a very happy New Year.
Much Thanks, Chef John⚘ God has blessed you with so many Talents from Delish Culinary To Good Humor! Your easy-going relaxed attitude really welcomes our confidence to create your Recipes! I'm so glad I to have found you! Mille Grazie!🇮🇹🇺🇸🗽
Always a pleasure to watch Chef John and even my grown sons appreciate the humor (and the snarky). :D Thank you for lightening up my work day (I listen at work).
We love Chef John's videos and have tried plenty. Taking his stuffing muffins to daughters for Christmas. Vegetarian, regular and raisin and cranberry soaked in alcohol in the adults one. Happy New Year chef John and Michele!
I can't believe that after so many years of watching YT videos, I've only just recently found your channel. And I just have to say that not only do I love your recipes and how well you explain them, but I love your sense of humor and have laughed out loud more times than I can count. This has been most welcome after a very personally challenging year. And even though I'm late to Chef John's party, at least I have tons of videos to binge watch now. Kudos to you Chef, and happy new year!
Like Julia Child? en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Julia_Child ovioulsy she didnt use a pinch of Cayenne pepper, (like Chief John)I like it spicy. (but not too much) and just a "HINT" he ads. shhhhh that's the secret. Dont tell anyone.. I do use a "HINT" Cayenne pepper in looking its called a hint. Hats off. Chef John.
Completely random… but I LOVE listening to your voice. I cannot cook anything, my whole life I’ve looked at other moms and women who cook and it’s really made me feel inadequate. This channel has inspired me, I LOVE your videos and your cooking guides make it look achievable. Thank you!
Verified this does cook perfectly last Christmas, last last Christmas and Thanksgiving. Chef John is on point all the time. Best chef/narrator on youtube
Thank you for your videos. I love your voice, how you describe each step, your humor and more. I am a grown woman who has a cooking challenge : ] Listening and following your directions helps me so much. Thank you very much! Oh, my husband thanks you as well : ] God bless~
When I was a very little girl, my Step Dad took us to the House of Prime Rib, my favorite part, was the dutch pudding, been looking for what is was called for 43 years. For Christmas our teacher called us up to ask our favorite food, I said a bread like pudding, she asked how you make it, and as a like 3rd grader I got creative, she photo copied "Our Christmas Favorite Foods" The kids had crazy ideas for thier favorite recipeies and how we thought, they were made. It's still super funny to read. Thanks for the REAL recipe, I'll be making it tomorrow!! Can't wait to tell my family, we will all get a good laugh. Your best video yet! Thank you chef!!
"Narcissist Meatballs" Sounds about right 🤣 FALAFEL All time favorite meal. While working in NYC and trying to figure out cheap lunches, in the late 1970s, up the block was MAMOUNS' FALAFEL. Pita stuffed, tahini sauced with a cup of tea, $2. Heaven, for the rest of my life. Now they're $5 but huge and worth it, of course! Thank you for your inspiring recipes 😍
I LOVE LOVE LOVE Chef John’s videos. I don’t know what I adore more: his fantastic voice or his witty humor (puns included!!). Thank you for all of the wonderful recipes, as well as sharing useful techniques. Here’s to more Food Wishes in 2022!!
Bro? Your Cottage Fries were a HUGE hit this past weekend! Thanks for providing step by step instructions! YOU (AND I) nailed IT! My guests said they were the BEST homemade "fries" they had ever tasted!
I make the dutch baby with apple slices, cinnamon, sugar, vanilla. After cooking, drizzle with a Carmel, bourbon sauce. Also have made this batter with shrimp and garlic/cream cheese mixture. Yum 😋
I love Shakshuka. I like it served with a small dollop of hummus on the side and a piece of pita. I do have hard time keep the yolks soft as you have to stop cooking them way sooner than you think you should because they keep cooking sitting in that hot sauce.
I just watched a marathon of Chef John's videos, as entertaining as they are informative; the recipes are fantastic and relatively simple. I have been cooking most of my life and consider myself a pretty awesome home chef, but after these tutorials I feel like I have even more basic kitchen wizardry and inspiration to work with, aside from being put in a great mood from all the fun jokes and wisecracks, you literally get genuine laughter out of me (not always so easy to do these days) 😁 THANKS for a super varietal food channel that makes me very happy every time I watch!
😅❤Chef John Xoxoxo you are amazing thank you 🙏 for all you do you put a smile 😃 on my face with every video of your s I view .I cant thank. You enough .
As soon as I saw this I went and made myself that grilled cheese sandwich. AMAZING! Best grilled cheese sandwich ever!! I’ve been also making baby Dutch pancakes for over a year! One of my favorites!
That Scotch egg looks like it should be sliced a couple times and served on a nice piece of bread toasted! Thank you for the recipe I've been wanting it for two decades now.
I am 65 in January is not too late to finally witness the best cooking show in my life when I first Iviewing Chef Johns's cooking show showed up on youtube today Feb. 23rd, 2023 I always wanted to make garlic spaghetti and it was the first time after r watching a cooking show in my life, that I thought I can do that!!! the material presented was simple rational clear concise examples like "let garlic set in olive oil for a while at a lower heat to infuse itself into the oil" and don't rinse your spaghetti, don't rinse your spaghetti, don't...popped up on my youtube
I've been cooking for 50 years, and you are the first food coach with table manners that I've seen since the mid 1970's when there were only 9 or 10 Real Master Chefs in the world. Fine work, Or like my mum said, that's right : ))) Just an observation
Once again Chef John takes the cake 👍🏻 I’ve made those scotch eggs before and I like to cold smoke them with a little cherry or pecan flavor 😍 DELICIOUS!!
Thank you Chef John! I’ve made many of your recipes & I tell all my friends I’ve found ALL of them to be excellent. I can’t believe your Bombay potatoes and Thai Basil Chicken are not in this list.
I have made this many times! I didn't have time to clarify the butter but it came out just as good! I have topped it off with raspberries and whipped cream! Blueberries are good too! Don't forget a sprinkle of powdered sugar! You can go for cinnamon sugar too, or maple syrup. If you want to get fancy you can sauté a medium ripe banana and raisins with peach brandy, cook for ten minutes and pour over the Dutch baby! You really bring out our creativity!😊
🙏🏼 Thank you Chef for coming into my life! So many of your recipes are some I have been thinking about preparing for so long! Blessings! And as always....Enjoy! 🤍🕊🤍🕊🤍
Chef John you're my first and most favorite youtube chef! I've watched you for almost ten years now and have tried out many of your recipes :) but I absolutely love your voice and content.

Food channel show. I love his easy going personality.

One of the ultimate legends of RUclips. I love that even though the format has evolved, it always felt like a throwback to the 80s-90s
Chef John could ABSOLUTELY steal your girl. I don't care how secure you THINK your relationship is, know that John is out there.

yes, but his inflections border on up-speak, which I DETEST.

looking forward to this-- the phrase "that's just you cooking" lives rent-free in my mind whenever i adjust a recipe at home.

Thank you Chef John, I've learned so much these past few years. I've gone from can't boil water to a decent home cook. You're a national treasure....
I dozed off watching this while lying in bed and discovered Chef John has a very soothing voice to fall asleep too. Much better than CNN. Also, you're my favorite chef for the 10th year now. I always check in with you when considering recipes. Happy new year!
Anything is better than the clown news network

God bless you 🌺
If you are cooking along with this, that is quite a feast. I'm gonna need that invite.
Do you have a delicious baby beef calfs liver recipe?

I’m from Tampa and my Cuban neighbors used to make bollitos. They are made similarly to falafel using black eyed peas. The seasoning is salt, garlic, onions, green peppers and cumin. Delicious.

Gotta love this guy! His cooking tips, ideas, recipe’s are GREAT too❣️
I've been preaching this same method for "boiling eggs" for years. 6min for soft, 8min for creamy hard boil. Perfect everytime. And fast too.

Have made the prime rib and twice baked potatoes. This is our Christmas Eve tradition. Amazing.
Hello 👋🏻
Happy new year to everyone. I'm greek and grew up in the greek taverna of my parents and my "work" was to make the tzatziki for the day (i mean like 30 kilos every day). You are very near the traditional recipe, but I want to add it here: Cucumber, garlic, greek strained yogurt, olive oil, vinegar and NOT lemon, salt, peper, origanon, mix and after 12 hours in the fridge is the best. Thank you for sharing your beautiful recipes. Health and happiness to everyone
Thank you for the vinegar tip. I shall never forget it.
I grew up with vinegar in the tabbouleh and tzatiki! My aunt always used apple cider or rice wine vinegar in tabbouleh. But white vinegar for tzatziki. Peace
Interesting . What is the recipe
I thought I had been watching for like 5 minutes, it's been over an hour. And I'm super hungry now.
Hello from Hong Kong. Made this cake yesterday and left it overnight. The next day we had it. It is hands down one of the best carrot cakes. I made a lemon cheese frosting. Thanks chef John. BTW, we've tried a lot of your recipes. All delicious. 😊🙏
Hi there 👋🏻 happy thanksgiving 😊 how are you hope you’re having a wonderful day 🙌❤️
I had a friend whose daughter married an Indian man back in 2015.
But when he alluded to a more, "oregano" filled past, he got the most sassy "Chef John" of all 😂
Chef John is the best! I learn so much about cooking from watching his videos on YT.

Taking stuffing muffins to your daughters sounds illicitly sexual. The cringe was almost physically painful, like one of Chef John's puns.

When I was a very little girl, my Step Dad took us to the House of Prime Rib, my favorite part, was the dutch pudding, been looking for what is was called for 43 years. For Christmas our teacher called us up to ask our favorite food, I said a bread like pudding, she asked how you make it, and as a like 3rd grader I got creative, she photo copied "Our
Christmas Favorite Foods"
The kids had crazy ideas for thier favorite recipeies and how we thought, they were made. It's still super funny to read.
Thanks for the REAL recipe, I'll be making it tomorrow!! Can't wait to tell my family, we will all get a good laugh.

FALAFEL All time favorite meal. While working in NYC and trying to figure out cheap lunches, in the late 1970s, up the block was MAMOUNS' FALAFEL.

I make the dutch baby with apple slices, cinnamon, sugar, vanilla. After cooking, drizzle with a Carmel, bourbon sauce. Also have made this batter with shrimp and garlic/cream cheese mixture. Yum 😋
:)
Chef John, you’re the best, along with Chef Pépin, of course.
