My crops = watered
My ears = blessed
My soul = saved
Hotel = Trivago
Cryptid hotel = trivago
My eczema = cured
‘Jig’?! You being funny? How would anyone dance to this?!

As true as the stars in the sky

Oh please God, release an album of you singing a capella Irish folk tunes. My life would be utterly complete.
I didn't know how much I needed that until your comment
It's called sean-nós (Shan-ohss) singing - unaccompanied with lots of ornamentation (trills, flips, etc.)
This is the thing that will fix the world.
It hasn’t been right since harambe died but an album of him singing Irish folk tunes would set it right.
I require this as well.
@@Kaatia18 well today I learned something new and wonderful! Thank you!
The idea of a traditional song about whiskey is so cute to me for some reason. Like, some guy was like “I love whiskey so much I'm going to sing about it in front of my friends”, and his friends were like “Hey man I like your song. How does it go again?” and then they sang it together and someone sang it in another pub and it continued like that. That’s adorable.
There's actually a whole section of traditional Irish music known as drinking songs, the whole purpose of which would be a whole pub full of aul feckers arm and arm singing as they throw back another pint. Drinking has a long time been a social thing in our good emerald isle, as has our music, and they met in a very fun way
@@nessaoc8801 Ah the unmatched Irish wit
I have great news for you about 90% of traditional music then :)

Matt Heffernan how could you possibly know if they had “no aptitude for poetry” from a single RUclips comment?
Also calling someone pretentious isn’t critique, it’s an insult. You’re just being rude
@@StraightHeffin And if "the inherent ache of it all" is pretentious to you, you have a low threshold, and you're weak. Also, you clearly know nothing about poetry OR what almost all of Hozier's songs are supposed to invoke the feeling of. It's not that difficult. So it's rich that you'd tell others they have no aptitude for poetry when you think "the inherent ache of it all" is pretentious.

The location, inisowen , could someone tell me is this a location physical or mythological? Gaelic is English for and therefore incorrect and Gaelig is the correct spelling and calling of Irish folks and the language and " como até tu?" Meaning " how are you?" I'm pretty much frozen where you'd leave a child of 7 years or so in terms of knowing from the source much else, bless you if you'd read this, I hate typing, I don't have computer just phone and English comes weird outta me, mouth and fingertips, so if you can enlighten me I would be grateful

if this lad ever speaks gaelic for us we're really all just finna implode huh
Gaelic is a group of languages. Gaeilge (or just Irish) is what you call the Irish language. If you talk about Gaelic in Ireland you’d be talking about a sport.
@@mannydoor2276 Nah kid. Gaelic Football is just 'Football', unless you're one of those soccer loving types.
As for Gaelic, I'm a semi-native speaker myself (grandparents from Kerry Gaeltacht) and they referred to the language as Gaelic when speaking English, so I don't care what they called it in your class in school. Most teachers don't even pronounce the words right...
It's true that Irish, Scottish and Manx Gaelic are part of the Gaelic language group, but they weren't viewed as separate languages by the Gaels (at least until very recently), and that's why older native speakers (in both Ireland and Scotland) called it Gaelic when referring to it in English.
he did song in irish when he was apart of Anúna. I’m pretty sure the title is The Raid
@@Dominic-so1hd Just watched it. So cool, thank you so much.
Yes
For anyone wondering the original folk version of this song is often called "Stick to the Craythur" and is originally not about whiskey but rather Poitin (Or "The Craythur") a kind of Irish moonshine with lots of different names which is like a homemade single malt whiskey that is often very strong.
Yeah the oul inishowen bit is most likely a reference to the poitin republic of Urris in Inishowen where mass poitin production took place

Mr. Brunel - Marc Brunel was an Anglo-French engineer who led the construction of the Thames Tunnel. Construction of the Tunnel started in February 1825 and was completed in 1843 going from Rotherhithe and Wapping. It is the first tunnel known to have been constructed successfully underneath a navigable river and it is still in use today.
ould Inishowen - Inishowen is a peninsula in the north of County Donegal in Ireland and is the largest peninsula on the island of Ireland.
cratur' - Irish term used to describe illegal liquor, distilled at a person's home.

There are sounds we encounter in our lives, that can move us - the haunting, angelic, powerful and yet heartbreaking sound of Hozier can do so.
