Love the content. Always honest , I can see the m3 touring in the near future on your channel. I wish they would bring it to the states. Mine would be the Nardo Grey with the carbon buckets with 6 speed manual. Cheers Joe
You’re right, it’s what you feel *behind the wheel* not frantically finding your clutch in a mountain road and crash because the surface is slippery and you’re in the wrong gear
A great honest-to-God review by a proper BMW fan. I wanted to follow the trend and get an auto, but you convinced me to stay true to my heart. My next M3 will be manual.
Another amazing video 👌 You can't beat a manual - end of. Like you said it's not all about outright speed it's about driver involvement, especially on the public road.
Another great review Joe 👏🏻 . Would definitely choose that over the auto. Whilst not available in the U.K., anyone who really wants a manual can get a M240i, or M2 as you say.
What I love about you, Joe and why I watch your videos and reviews is that I can hear the love you have for cars and the driving experience as a whole! Keep up the phenomenal work! You're the best
You're right about the 6th gear like Joe. It's quite frustrating in my little M140i, I know how efficient the engine is, and I average nearly 30mpg on a long run, but it's annoying knowing I'd be getting more with an 8 speed. It's not even the fuel cost for me, it is what it is, it's the range. I live in the North East and a lot of my friends live in the Bristol area, that's 1 tank of fuel to get down there, it might sound alright but it's annoying making sure you have to top up before you set off, and you know by the time you get down there if you want to go for a drive somewhere you're going to have to top up again! Still though, glad I bought the manual and not the auto, it's a little niggle, and it's still worth it.
I love this video. Gave me so much confidence in my decision for my Isle of Man Green manual M3 I just ordered. Thanks as always for producing honest and passionate content!
@@yourmomfatachacks7976 nice congrats! switched to SPY while I could. Just went into status 150 so in production, but ordered back in April. They are estimating 3 months
Love the video Joe. Have had the M3 MT6 for about 3 months. Still getting to know it. Love it. It is one car for all needs.Plus love all your other videos. Insightful and entertaining.
Great video Joe, every car producer should have manual gearbox options for the piston heads like us. Thanks BMW and you that you showed us how good this beautiful piece of todays machinery with manual option. If a car more than a machine in your life in that case you have to have fun of it. Life is too short to spend boring cars of todays. We need manufacturers like BMW to make our lives more colorful.
This is one of your best videos, Joe, and that’s saying something! Your in-car footage, especially while driving The ‘ring, was stellar, and your enthusiasm is contagious. Well done, Sir!
From Gold Coast Hinterland - 🇦🇺. Thank you for all your hard work sharing this content. Great footage with clear and concise reviews. Enjoy the break and see you in 2022.
Great video Joe! Loved hearing your thoughts around the manual gearbox for this! M3 Touring in a manual is beyond our wildest dreams but perhaps they may do one outside the UK which you can try in the future? What an amazing car that would be for us! Videos like your reaffirm my decision to keep with my manual Golf R.....its just awesome 👍 #SaveTheManuals
Shame British nieces and nephews like us can’t get the M3/M4 with a 6MT. But at least you can get it in other European countries except Ireland, North America and Australia.
I have a 2024 M4 xdrive currently on order, and while I REALLY REALLY would have preferred the manual, the xdrive would be much more practical in my area during the winter and during wet raining days. Why couldn't the xdrive have a manual option :(
Joe you don't mention the steering as a negative and I think it is. For example compared to the Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio is feels numb . As always great info.
Good point, It was one of my negatives (as talked about in some of my M3 videos), the audio went out for my 2nd and 3rd negative reason. But you're totally right, nothing like a GQ or Cayman in terms of steering feel 👌
It’s weird how we always want what we can’t have. I love my manual. That being said, if BMW sold the M3 touring in the US, I’d gladly let my manual go for it. I would miss my manual, but assuming the touring is AWD I’d be ok with that trade.
@@yourmomfatachacks7976 congrats, that’s a nice color! I got the metallic Portiamo Blue. Mine just arrived stateside last week and delivery should be in the next week or two!
Love all the content Joe; many thanks for keeping us informed and entertained. I am Brit living in Germany and am desperate to know the (general) location of this road. Cheers, cheers
Fantastic video Joe. What is the reason behind BMW not selling a manual option in the UK, is it a government issue or do BMW think there's just no market for a manual over here?
Quick question Joe, how you rate the manual version of the g80/82 vs the 2018 bmw m3 competition (f80 m3) with a 6mt. I believe the f80 m3 with the s55 is rated at 444 vs the new 473 hp base model with similiar, if not the same torque...however the older model does in fact way alot less. I'm curious as to how the new technological advancements on the front end compare to the best of the old gen....since they are both twin turbo 6 cyclinders at the end of the day. ( i believe the f80 m3 was at 3515 lbs vs the 3924 lbs for the new model). As always, thank you for your reviews.
I think thanks to you it will come to europe! It's surprising to me that they wouldn't offer an option as big as manual or not in their home country. It'd be like dodge not giving the American market a manual. I mean culture differences and all but still a surprise.
Hi Joe, I guess the road is near Nurburg, but which road is it? Going out hopefully in June next year to Apex to ride in a 992 GT3 and Apex’s GT2RS MR and the BMW M3.
Nice review, after owning a f82 and f32 435 both manual, tuned, and modified. The ZF8 auto feels amazing, sporty, satisfying, and no stress in traffic etc. No regrets going auto here.
Great info Joe. Glad to see you still love a manual! When I had my Mustang I did think to myself, a Mustang surely suits an Auto box more as it’s a GT car. However, as you kept pointing out it’s just so much more fun with a manual. More engaging, it sounds better, love heel and toe-ing, the gear shift was very mechanical and precise. You may have answered this before but would you prefer the manual M3 or 4 over the M2? I know you effectively wouldn’t need two cars but which is better to drive?
Joe, you mentioned that your steel brake pads only lasted 5K. Can you discuss the maintainability of the M3. I've just ordered one and I'm reading that the M3/4 are notoriously unreliable. Thx in advance.
So this may seem a strange question (given the similarities of the M3 and M4) but do think the manual box would suit the M3 in the same way as you think it does in the M4? It feels like the M3 character is more a covers all bases car (so auto is good) and the M4 is more compromised in that respect so a manual would be great. Final question….manual M4 RWD or auto M3 xDrive?
The M3 and M4 don't drive differently. From the driver's seat, you could teleport from one to the other and not notice. I'm 5500 miles into my M3 6MT ownership, and I feel the same way Joe does about the driving experience...even at slow speeds.
Bingo!!! Someone who gets it. I don't care if I am a few ticks slower, am I enjoying the car more. Thats why I can never, ever own a EV. My current ride is a 2020 Mustang GT PP1 with a 6MT along with a lot of Ford Performance goodies. I enjoy just putzing around the street shifting, and listening to the car.
A pattern is emerging. Now that shift technology means an Auto shift speed of change has peaked, everyone now wants to go back to a manual. But with the onset of EV will manufacturers respond and give us high powered ICE with Manual boxes?
Always honest and informed content Joe. Much appreciated. Have had M235 and M2 comp both autos and found them great. MPG in 235 driven reasonably was excellent for the type of car. M2 less so but to be expected. Slightly less performance and less MPG puts me off the manual. Have GR Yaris a great little car but miss the paddles and convenience of auto. Never thought I'd hear myself saying that! So auto every day for me. Best to you for 2022 and hope all goes well.
Hope everyone is having a happy holiday, sending lots of love wherever you may be ❤️
Same to you Joe. Hope 2022 continues to be another successful year for the channel! 👍
